It has recently come to my attention that Harmony is indeed in fact not the only "god" of our world. As the anthropologist of the Oasis, I have taken it upon myself to record these beings and the cultural beliefs of our ancestors, with a bit of assistance of Skywatch's resident time traveler, Dreamchaser.

I hope perhaps these notes may come of use to future interactions with these marvelous beings, and to those who simply want to know a bit more regarding our unfortunately troubled history.

Elementals & Domain[]

We've always known about the elementals - curious little sprites made entirely of magic - but what we do not know much about are the elementals spirits, god-like beings from the beginning of time. They appear to be composed entirely of elemental energy and can manifest in a mortal body to interact with lesser beings (such as myself). However, they themselves - as previously mentioned - are spirit, and appear to exist in the world in six dimensions rather than three, according to Dreamchaser. To them, time is just a play thing rather than the inevitable, the planet is just a speck, and the plane of the dead is the world in which they truly walk.

It's truly quite fascinating, but I'm afraid quantum physics isn't my field. Dreamchaser can have fun with that... but perhaps I should ask him for a copy of a dimensional map to include in this.

Enough of that, I need to focus.

Each Elemental rules over a different field of magic. Fire rules over Fire Magic, Ice rules over Ice Magic, and so forth. These different domains led to different peoples worshipping them millennia ago, and led to the elementals themselves bringing different species into existence. Yet, what I find most interesting is that despite their imbalances in power (I forgot to mention that due to them being concentrated elemental energy, they react to other elementals according to their element), they collaborated on certain things. For example, the different species of Faen; Each elemental assisted in bestowing the Faen their elements, and with guiding their evolutionary path. I personally find this immensely ironic, seeing they're all theists. There's record of this in some of the scrolls we recovered at the dig site... I believe it's called The Book of Genesis. A very fitting name, if I say so myself.

Now for the elementals themselves... where did I put my notes?

Celestial[]

Only the Faen knew of his existence until recently. He presents himself as an angelic being, noted for having traits representing the mysterious elements of moon and sun. His entire left side tributes to moon, while the right, to sun. He supposedly founded the Faen kind, and after he fell, the Faen turned against the divine...quite curious how their devotion lead to their lack of devotion. Something that interests me is that he's known as the God of Time, and is said to have blessed those with heterochromia... perhaps I should ask Dreamchaser if that eye of his gave him any special abilities.

Domain[]

After he fell, his magical domain split into Moon, Sun, and Astral. However, these elemental domains were not originally powerful enough to manifest new elemental beings, leading to the paradox of how Astral can counter Shadow, an obviously much more powerful force. Due to his close ties to the Faen, only they evolved to use these elements, however, when Shadow began to attempt to overpower the other elementals, Harmony made Astral accessible to other beings, along with empowering it enough for an elemental to form.

As stated, he founded the Faen, and assisted in the creation of the Yokai. He's also responsible for the existence of most avian creatures.

Culture[]

Cenorism, previously practiced by Faen, was a religion devoted to Celestial. Not much is known about it outside of the moral code and a singular festival, albeit, the latter is no longer done to tribute him. After Celestial's death, only the Celestial Faen continued to practice it, and as of present day, only a select few of the Celestial Tribes still believe in it. Most intriguingly, these individuals are normally from former royal lines...it might be due to the fact these lines were said to have been blessed by the elemental personally.

I have yet to witness the Festival of Light myself, but I have come across many individuals who've seen hundreds of paper lamps, birds, and boats float down the river and into the sea. There's a fisherman who caught one of them by mistake - after speaking with them I discovered that these paper creations have the owner's wishes and troubles written upon it, and the paper itself is degradable. It's only designed last long enough to reach the Celestial Island chain, and will disintegrate instantly if it gets wet. I was confused by this until I realized bottom of the paper is coated in a thin layer of wax.

Things of Note[]

  • Celestial's angelic appearance directly contrasts Shadow's demonic nature... I believe this was a visual representation of how they balanced each other.
  • The Prodigia used to have two moons, the other disappearing when he fell. It makes me wonder if the second moon was an elemental anomaly.
  • Celestials was said to have been troubled with future sight, knowing all that was to come before it happened. It's quite curious that future sight is a problem an elemental would have, seeing time is a physical dimension for them. Or perhaps, time works more differently then Dreamchaser told me...he wasn't very keen on going into detail.
  • His fall was due to the elementals being too instable for him to continue existing. Now that the synergy been corrected, I wonder what caused this instability.
  • His interests led to polygamy being an acceptable practice back then. Supposedly, he took interest in three of the other elementals.

Shadow[]

I'm honestly not sure if there's much to write about her. We all know she rules over the Shadow element, and how she attempted to take over the island, and how she managed to resurrect Celestial. But the specifics regarding her... now that's a mystery. She assisted in the creation of certain faen and yokai, and she's also known as the Mother of Dragons due to bringing them into existence. Yet do we actually know anything about her? Shadow magic itself is a tricky thing, filled with lies and illusions. For all we know, everything we know about Shadow could be greatest of all lies.

Domain[]

Her domain must be one of the few things we can be certain of. Her domain contains all things we fear, but also what we treasure. Darkness, apathy, and insignificance manifest in her offspring—Void, the Aeon of Nihility, a false elemental. Dreams, beauty, and love are things Shadow adores and partake in, but their are little who dare to associate these things with her, although she appears to be closely tied to all three.

It's strange to think about how these beings can be bound to what we experience on a daily basis, with little to no magical interference. It's...hard to think about sometimes. Ah, here I am, rambling again, I'm really beginning to take after Mr. Dreamchaser.

Things of Note[]

  • Supposedly, Dark Faen have culture regarding her... now to find one who won't kill me on sight.
  • She's one of the elementals Celestial was affectionate toward.

Fire[]

They're genderfluid, which is something I find fascinating. Throughout the Book of Genesis, they're described as female, but historically, they've presented as male, nonbinary, and intersex at whim. They're the only elemental who change in gender presentation willingly, as the others only change it to fit their host's body (in the cases of Elemental Balance).

And to think this isn't the only interesting thing about them. Their species - the elven kind - rejected them upon their creation. I never found reason for them to do this, and according to the Book of Genesis, most of their troubles was an attempt at trying to earn the elves' respect. Honestly, I feel a bit bad for them.

This rejection led to them having no domain outside the Fire Element, and little to no culture regarding them.

Things of Note[]

  • They're the only elemental who takes advantage of their sixth dimensional existence.
  • They were one of the elementals Celestial's was affectionate toward.
  • Their hair is actually made of fire! And it's quite cold to the touch... interesting.

Ice[]

Aeons[]

Aeons...I always found them bewildering, regardless of working with one. They're beings who have "ascended" in one way or another, although these methods are vastly different. Additionally there's the fact most sub-elementals and demigods are considered Aeons, and they were born the way they are.

They are heavily intertwined with the state of existence that leads to their "ascension," which earns their titles—for example, the Aeon of Nihility. With this state of existence, they have unique abilities stemming from it, and in Void's—Nihility's—case, this means having an entire dimension dedicated to the nullification of reality.

Dimension...I still have yet to see him use his abilities. Especially since it would be ever so helpful to answer half my questions. Nevermind, I have research to do.

Aeon of Dimension[]

I will not lie. I started with him out of spite. You see, it's quite fustrating to have so much knowledge before you and not being able to ask about any of it. Although, I have to admit, even with his past and current statuses, he still has a right to privacy. I do apologize due to how lacking this section might be.

Let's begin. The Aeon of Dimension looks unassuming. He acts normal enough—he eats, sleeps, speaks just like the rest of us. Unlike many of the Aeons I will discuss, he looks completely...normal, as stated. Or at least, he manages to present himself as such—who knows the terrors that lay under his coat.

What's interesting about him—what makes him an Aeon—is his abilities. There was supposedly a time that, like most of the other time travers on the island, he had to use physical devices to traverse through the spatiotemporal. Yet now, he can go any where in any point or place in time with a mere thought. Unlike many other aeons, this was the result of many incidents, not just one. Although he is immensely powerful...he got the short end of the stick in regard to obtaining such power. Ah, here I am, going off on tangents as per usual. And in the wrong section...

Prowess[]

Aside from time travel, although I haven't been directly told this, I have noticed that he had the uncanny ability to..."see" things. He can hold up the most complex machine, and without even opening up, know where every spring and sprocket is located within it. Most intriguingly, whenever there's something that isn't working quite right, he'd just look at it and it'll just...fix itself. Or he somehow repairs it on another dimension of reality. Hm, actually, that's likely.

He supposedly can traverse dimensions, and I've heard that he has abilities from some of them, but he never once used them around me. There's also been vague mention of him interacting with other versions of himself, but that's true for just about every time traveler I've been introduced to, and during that one time... Ah, well, getting off topic again.

Things of Note[]

  • He's immortal, but I don't quite understand...how. He's explained to me that he can be killed but from what I know about him...I don't believe that's true anymore. Not with what I know about the other Aeons.
  • He...he has some sort of relation with the Aeon of Balance? I don't quite understand it, there's no reason for their interaction, but seeing how old they both are...I'm not sure.
  • I suppose he has sub-aeons? Or would they be referred to as demiaeons? I honestly haven't done much research regarding this. They don't seem to have the same abilities as him, but they have frequent exposure to mimics of it...

Aeon of Balance[]

Hm...they're an interesting one. They were never quite a normal person to begin with, having to struggle with...strange occurrences since childhood. Supposedly, their becoming of an Aeon was a choice for them.

The Aeon of Balance was not human and certainly looked the part. They weren't quite normal either. Yet what's interesting is that they're one of the few Aeons who look the part. The are the embodiment of the compromise of the elementals, presenting traits of each of the main seven. Although they themselves do not balance the elements, they are the physical representation of it.

I would love to ramble about them but in all truths, I do not know that much about them.

Prowess[]

Their power derives from the elemental themselves, and they can leech from their domains at will. They seem to be able to manifest enough of their power to rival Harmony themselves, however, due to their former nature, are handicapped by their physical capacities. On the bright side, this means we won't have to worry about another Aeon trying to ascend to godhood, on the downside, due to their...inherited balance of power, it ironically makes them harder to counter the Aeon of Imbalance.

Things of Note[]

  • Another immortal Aeon. It's strange, how most of the immortal Aeons seem to be cursed with it rather than blessed with it. They can feel pain, be injured...just not die.
  • They have ties with the Aeon of Dimension—which at the time of writing this, is still a mystery to me—along with connections with the Aeon of Imbalance, Aeon of Eternity, and Aeon of Karmic (Debt). Quite suiting if you ask me.
  • They are the only gender-fluid Aeon, and intriguingly enough, were apparently friends with Fire once. No doubt the two had plenty of things to relate on...maybe.
