The Adherents of the Church of Astrallum are a fanon group for Prodigy. The group is mentioned in Dargon's Bane.
Members[]
Membership is nearly exclusive to mice due to the circumstances in which the group was isolated in before the inclusion of wizards and canines into the Underworld. They are generally accepting of new members and are largely non-bigoted against magical and nonmagical folk that look like them. They exclude members of other religions from entering their church, and they will not accept the Ancient because they are the object of the Church's worship.
Culture[]
Adherents are considered the greatest and most strict members of the Church of Astrallum, being the only ones that visit their official house of worship within the Underworld: there is only one, and it is just referred to as the Church. They appreciate the works that the Ancient has done, reciting whatever history they could since the last universal reset that wiped all the mice's memories. They understand the volatility of the five primordial elements and their two elemental products, so they choose to abstain from magic entirely. Those caught using magic will be shunned, and those that use it multiple times must provide evidence to the contrary. If a member of the Church is accused by an adherent of using magic without restraint, a "witch trial" is held, with the accused member presumed guilty before being proven innocent. Members that fail are disfellowed from the group and must not contact anyone, even their family, that remains in the Church.
Adherents that want to or are forced to make a full commitment to their Church, usually at about 13 wizard years, must forfeit their innate elemental magic or confirm that they have lost the ability to use it. To keep members from practicing magic, they use the unique powers of the Smuggler to change their elemental nature to Nonmagical. The process requires intense concentration that can only be achieved by completing complex mathematics, so members that wish to or are forced to be converted train themselves in mathematics to be able to keep their magic-centered brain as inactive as possible. Once activity within the section of the brain that controls magic ceases, the mouse, wizard, or other being tends to fall into deep sleep. During that time, the Smuggler is able to perform complex neck cracking that destroys the nervous system connected to the magic brain. These two processes are called "burning out" and "antimagitherapy," respectively. If performed correctly, the person suffers permanent brain damage only to the affected area.
Antimagitherapy has adverse side effects associated with magic. For example, fae that have antimagitherapy can no longer fly.
Members of the Church of Astrallum that wish to leave are allowed to depart and regain their magic because freedom of choice is largely respected. The Smuggler would reverse the damage by using fumes that react with the olfactory system to restore energy flow and activity to the magic brain. However, by this process happening, the person is automatically disfellowshipped.
Weapons/Gear[]
Adherents may wear any clothing they choose, but must wear dark indigo and teal robes when within the Church. Church members are capable of using magic-free weapons and equipment of any sort.
Abilities[]
The abilities of an adherent depend solely upon the individual.
Strengths and Weaknesses[]
Since most members of the Church are nonmagical, they often have the following strengths and weaknesses:

Trivia[]
- Members are restricted to a diet of foods not made or processed magically.
- Apostates may re-enter the religion under very rare circumstances; they must be heroic to the majority of the adherents and have completed a quest that the Smuggler gives them.
- The Smuggler offers the process of conversion therapy to those that are not in the Church, and this is permitted by the Church itself because it permits the freedom of choice in either direction.
