Adoption is a fanon feature for Prodigy.
Overview[]
Using the Fields[]
Within the Nesting Grounds, players can go to the Fields to observe at least 20 wild pets and monsters whom were defeated in battle so that their mind control ceased, allowing them to come up to the grounds, or were let go from other players, having already been freed from mind control. Players that wish to adopt one can click on the monster or pet and have it run up to them, inducing them to enter an interface where they are able to click on six buttons:
- QUIT to quit the interface and move on to other pets
- Feed to consume one of their Pet Feed so that the pet becomes more loyal (and is played with).
- Play to consume one of their Pet Enrichment Toys so that the pet becomes more loyal (and is played with).
- Tag to apply a tracker to the pet or monster so that it returns every day until adopted or untagged. Players have 10 used or available tags that can be reallocated at any time. Tagged pets or monsters cannot be shooed away.
- Shoo to individually force the pet to leave the Fields and never return after midnight or a player's voluntary reset of the Fields unless they really want to.
- Check Stats to observe the spells that they have, the spells that they may have, their level, health, pet data, and whether or not they can be shooed away due to having a tag or not.
Unlike in the natural world of Prodigy, the creatures in the Nesting Grounds can be of a much higher level than the player. In the case that the level of the pet or monster is at least 5 greater, attempts to make the pet or monster loyal are reduced to 1/2, where the probability of an effort working has a 50% chance of being effective. There is also variability in the amount of consecutive days players must play with or feed a monster or pet of their choosing in order to make it their pet. The amount of times the player can attempt to feed or play with their chosen monster does not matter and caps at 99% until the set of consecutive days has passed.
Level of Monster | Consecutive Days |
---|---|
1-20 | 4 |
21-40 | 5 |
41-60 | 6 |
61-80 | 7 |
81-100 | 8 |
Additional Information[]
Players can reset the Fields, effectively shooing away all pets and monsters that have not yet been played with, fed, or tagged, for a maximum of 5 times per day. Pets that have been played with despite being shooed away have a 50% probability of returning afterward. At midnight UTC, the Fields pets reset and all non-tagged, non-played-with, non-fed pets will depart on a separate reset. Occasionally, pets will be adopted by other players in the meantime and cannot be played with even before the reset: pets and monsters are competitively achieved. To attract more pets and monsters to the Fields, players can set up a maximum of 8 Pet Feed in the Field by the APPLY FEED button that players view near the top left side of their UI when in the Fields. Here, they can also view the amount of Pet Feed remaining in the form of an 8-slice pie graph (present Pet Feed is in yellow while an absence of pet feed is in gray), as each manual reset and midnight reset detracts 1 Pet Feed. The following applies after a reset occurs:
Pets in the Fields After Reset | Pet Feed Present After Reset |
---|---|
20 | 0 |
25 | 1 |
26 | 2 |
28 | 3 |
29 | 4 |
32 | 5 |
33 | 6 |
40 | 7 |
50 | 8 |
Players can adopt a maximum of 3 pets per day and no more. This is the reason for tagging monsters to be adopted later.
Improving Gameplay[]
Adoption allows players to obtain the rejected or defeated pets that interacted with other players; they may grow more sympathy for monsters to reduce their desire to let them go. It also gives the chance for players to adopt high-level pets and use them for battle in the future.
Math Factor[]
Players must be level 30 or higher to access the Nesting Grounds, and therefore to access the Fields. To obtain the necessary materials to adopt a pet requires Copper Coins, so battles are necessary.
