April Lightningsinger is a character who appears in Elemental Divide.
Appearance[]
April is short and incredibly thin, with black hair and black eyes. They have bangs and their hair is crudely cut off just above the shoulder. Sticking out from where a human's ears would normally be, are two small ear-wings, with gold and blue feathers. A scar resembling a claw scratch is embedded onto the right side of their face. From their back, two wings emerge, with a wingspan of about eight feet. They resemble a Solarisis' wings, with their gold and blue colours. The wings are usually kept closed, and when they want to hide their nature, April binds them.
Personality[]
April is typically quiet when you first meet them, but never shy. They don't enjoy socializing or small talk, but when they come out of their shell a little, they are actually a snarky person with a lot to say. While they've been working on it, it's still incredibly easy to send them in to a non-verbal phase, and the simplest way is to just inflict a decent amount of pain on them. Whenever April is in a situation where they abruptly feel an emotion, typically rage, they enter a state where they lose control of their magic and expel a lot of power, sometimes too much. They feel guilt very strongly, and they most certainly are not authority's biggest fan.
Weapons/Gear[]
- Leather Apparal: Modified to make space for their wings, but they own a version without a hole for when they use their bindings. It's sleeveless and cut into more of a tunic-style, with black leggings underneath.
- Earmuffs: The muffs are incredibly large, as their purpose is to hide April's ear-wings,
- Silver Gloves: Due to several accidents that occurred while trying to reign in their incredibly volatile element, April has web-like scars all over their hands, and covers them with a pair of silver-coloured gloves.
- Soles of the Spy: They just like being quiet when they walk.
Abilities[]
- Powerful Storm Magic: Since April has the traits of a Solarisis, they have an immense affinity to the Storm element.
- Whiplash: An ability they discovered when they first used their magic. Whenever April feels an emotion to an overwhelming point, cords of lighting lash out towards their enemy without their conscious command. They are currently working towards using that ability whenever they wish.
- Storm Summoning: Another ability triggered by emotion. April summons a storm directly above them, and occasionally, lightning hits them, acting as a protective barrier.
- Flight: Wings. And bird stuff. It means flying. Flappy birds. Woosh.
- Sign Language: They go through non-verbal phases at times, and at some point it just became more convenient for them to learn the language.
- "Talons": Their nails tend grow pretty long before breaking. And they hurt when they dig into someone's skin. A lot.

Strengths[]
- Stealth: April is small, lightweight, and generally quiet, which allows them to slip into and out of spaces completely unnoticed.
- Flexibility: They need to be flexible to take care of their wings, and those several years of uncomfortably twisting and turning their body in the least humanly possible ways so they could pluck out debris and junk from their feathers essentially counted as taking several years of gymnastics.
Weaknesses[]
- Unable to Kill: April's past haunts them every day, and ever since they first used their magic, April vowed to never add any more blood to their hands than there already was.
- Insecure: Because of their appearance and actions, they have been called a monster in the past several times, and often feel disgusted and ashamed of themself.
- Non-Verbal: When feeling overwhelmed or left to spiral for too long, April goes quiet and only communicates in sign language or writing, which does make things very inconvenient in a group setting.
- Lack of Control: While they can handle the Storm spells they've learned just fine, any other expulsion of Stom magic tends to go haywire, especially when they're emotionally overwhelmed.
- Hollow Bones: They need to be lightweight so they can fly, and that makes them a little frail and weak in the physical department.
- Lack of Education: April never received a good, or even adequate education while growing up, so they don't know much when it comes to the history of the island or other island affairs. That lack of knowledge often causes them to feel embarrassed or insecure around others.
Trivia[]
- They despise outfits with wings or feathers as decoration.
- When talking, their sentences often end up stilted or contain a lot of pauses. It happens more with people they aren't very familiar with, but it also can occur when they're feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable, but not enough to go non-verbal.
