Celestial's Scale is an Item within fanon Prodigy.
Appearance[]
A circular sheet of unknown material, engraved with intricate symbols and runes, glowing softly in the presence of a magical source.
When the source touches the object, or is placed upon it, a beam of light shoots up for each element the source has an affinity with. The higher the beam, the more adept the source is, and when the beam reaches the highest point, splitting off into a downward crescent, it signifies that the source had reached the max affinity they are physically capable of. This max affinity varies on the species and object, of course, which is signified by certain runes lighting up to demonstrate difference.
At random points in time, the runes reshuffle themselves, perhaps to signify the addition of an element. Elements that are long gone are still measured, albeit, obviously, there will be no beam of light representing them, as there is nothing to show in the case of a source with no affinity. Oddly enough, Astral isn't represented by a unique sigil, but rather, a star split in three parts, to which one puzzles over how it's mathematically possible.
When measuring a vessel of an element, such as the Prodigy or and elemental balance user, an odd sigil appears and the object only measures their innate ability, as if to say, "I would count it, sincerely, but you do realize that's cheating?"
In-Game Description[]
"An ancient relic originally created by the elemental Celestial. It had been closely guarded by the Glacier Tribe for millions of years...so what is it doing collecting dust in the Archives?"
Obtainment Methods[]
Did you really think the Academy Keeper wouldn't notice you sealing it?
Trivia[]
- Celestial's Scale is a reference to the the Scale of Souls from the series, Mystic Prince. Similar to the original, it measures affinity to the elements, albeit not according to divinity.
- Due to measuring affinity to an element and not their actual ability to use it, some people may show ability for elements they may not, or never use.
- Affinity can change overtime.
