FourSevensRueful Version |
Eggs of pets and buddies are a fanon, pet- and buddy-related feature for Prodigy available within the FourSevensRueful Version.
Overview[]
In this version, both buddies and pets are able to create eggs from breeding in the Nesting Grounds, a location specifically designed for the care and keeping of wizards' critters. Eggs are the first stage in the life cycle of every buddy, monster, and pet in the FourSevensRueful version, although a select amount are accessible to players. However, raising buddies and pets is a requirement after hatching them so that they are strong enough to be displayed or used in battle. See the Breeding page for compatibility, clutch size, and chances of a species being inherited from its parents.
Hatch Method[]
Both buddies and pets require waiting, magic or sometimes, strictly magic to hatch from their eggs. More special species require extra performed behaviors to hatch.
- Buddies who are listed as HARMONY ISLAND-SPECIFIC, and must be placed in a Harmony Island Egg Habitat, a slot for both incubated and unincubated eggs. The eggs remain inert in any slot until they are placed in this habitat. Affected species are the Ruin Bat, Ruin Rabbit, and Tasmanian Tiger.
- Normal Fox eggs require a parent connection to hatch and remain inert until a parent is connected to the caretaking player's account.
- Dyno eggs are the only pet eggs that require an active membership to hatch, but they also require use of magic.
- Original starters can only hatch at school (on singleplayer worlds) if provided magic. Newer starters can hatch at home on multiplayer worlds if provided magic.
- Eggs that require magic to hatch may not be incubated using magic-incompatible incubators.
Rare Egg Giveaways[]
Some species of buddies and monsters/pets cannot be bred into existence and can only be recreated, outside of normal obtainment, in Rare Egg Giveaways. These are set to happen on international non-religious holidays, event intervals, and times when game achievements are unlocked. Only one egg (per species) can be retrieved in each giveaway. If more than once giveaway occurs with the same species egg, another egg can be retrieved. Rare eggs are not able to be traded.
- Warden pet eggs are available when players interact with rescued wardens after completing the game and will give the player one egg for each of their giveaways. The warden that provides one specimen after being rescued from the Order of Influence distributes these eggs free of charge. They require magic to hatch, but are not members-only.
- Modern arena (non-Harmony Island Arena) buddy eggs are given away by Boardy for players with at least 500 BP during their respective distribution intervals. They each cost 100,000 gold and require magic to hatch.
- Competitive pets require magic to hatch and come with a small golden sword-and-crown texture to notify players that the egg is special. One of each species can be purchased within the Arena Circulation. Prince E. Spell will open a merchant shop for competitive pet eggs and give them away at a cost of 1000 arena trophies within the respective season, which requires battle.
- The Rueful's Epics Update releases epics that must be earned to obtain. Ulla will provide these eggs to the player within the Lamplight Outskirts if they are level 100 and have two pets in their active party that are also level 100. These pets in the player's active party must both match the element of the Epic Egg that Ulla will provide.

Post-Hatch Process[]
Buddies and pets have custom egg textures specific for their species, so that is predetermined by the egg texture that appears in an empty egg slot of the Nesting Grounds after it is laid. After an egg hatches, the buddy or pet will be assigned its mutational load based on that of its parents and grandparents; in addition, the new hatchling will need to be raised for 8 weeks (12 weeks for special egg hatchlings) before it can enter a cage and the player's inventory (if a buddy) or enter a player's pet collection at level 1 (if a pet). Incubators, egg slots in egg habitats are no longer suitable for the growth and wellness of hatchlings--applied incubators, if any are used, will either be immediately removed from a hatchling once it emerges or will break if they reach their hatch limit.
- Hatchlings have the option to be uniquely named upon being born. There are many name restrictions to avoid offensive terms, so the available names come from a predetermined list that shortens once players type--this is similar to the canon chat feature in Prodigy.
- Hatchlings can be gifted or traded between players and the raising they already experienced (from the passage of time in proper habitat slots) will transfer with the hatchling buddy/pet.
- Keep hatchling siblings or half-siblings, if any, next to each other in between their parents to receive a passive 1/3 raising time reduction for both normal and special egg hatchlings. If players have any sibling or half-sibling hatchlings not in this formation that are not already traded away, the hatchlings not in the care of their parents will not receive this benefit. Fully-grown siblings or half-siblings and those still in their eggs do not receive this benefit and are not necessary for benefits to be given.
- Hatchlings, like eggs, cannot leave the Nesting Grounds for any reason and cannot be taken out to inventory cages or display cages (display slots).
- They can be protected by protection and invincibility spheres to prevent the spread of Basilisk Disease.
- Hatchlings cannot be entered into breeding slots because they are not mature enough to reproduce.
- Because hatchlings share the texture of the adult form of their species, they have a raising time added to them on their individual profiles and, when viewing their habitat, a white pacifier icon is visible next to their name.
Improving Gameplay[]
If all features of Rueful's version of breeding and eggs in Prodigy were implemented, trading may be encouraged to be implemented as well and cause and increase in development activity (in turn, producing hype). Players are more easily able to obtain duplicates of buddies, promoting swaps and use of a trading feature. This, in turn, may excite players and cause further appreciation of development amongst the player community. The Basilisk breeding disease will add a plague-like dynamic in the Prodigy world, which might cause players to care more and have more value in their buddies of other players. They may grow to appreciate game mechanics more through eggs in Prodigy.
Math Factor[]
Breeding itself will not require mathematics, but reaping the rewards of breeding--eggs, does sometimes. Some pets may require magic and mathematics to hatch from their eggs. Questions will need to be answered correctly either to speed up the hatching process of an egg, cause it to hatch, improve conditions for hatching, and more.
