There are different methods of battle strategy that allow players to most easily complete different tasks. There are optimized battle styles that have to be changed for different circumstances. For each circumstance, there are different models, or styles.
Dictionary[]
- Sweeper: a pet or wizard with high damage output. They should usually be aided with damage bonus equipment.
- Tank: a pet with high amounts of hearts. They shoul usually be aided with heart bonus equipment.
The Simple Model[]
Useful only for normal wizard battles.
Equipment[]
- Have the best available equipment on, stats-wise. Always wear an Ice Dragon Tooth Crown if the wizard has at least 16 heart bonus from their outfits and boots.
- Have the strongest relic of the element that best counters all the enemies you expect to battle in an encounter. When battling an Aquaster on the shores of Shipwreck Shore, use a Storm or Fire element relic to counter either it or the Muckster that is almost guaranteed to fight alongside it.
- Bring in your strongest wand. Make sure it has a spell attached to it that you are a high enough level to use.
Strategy[]
- Bring the wizard into battle first, unless they have an elementally advantageous pet with a high enough level to be able to deal more damage than the wizard.
- Do not waste time eating food if the party contains one or more pets.
- Defeat as many monsters as possible to gain levels or clear areas more easily.
The Balanced Model[]
Useful for:
- Boss Battles (excluding Pippet, Makalu, and Grumpy Yeti)
- Harmony Island
- Arena (Harmony Island)
Equipment[]
Equip at least one sweeper and at least one tank to the party. Make sure that both of them can fight if one of them is defeated. If the boss is of the Shadow element, always play the wizard first.
Strategy[]
Vigorously heal the sweeper(s) and give them damage bonus potions. Give the tank(s) the strongest resist-all effect potions available in tougher battles.
The Energy-Conservative Model[]
Useful for:
- Fighting Makalu
- Fighting Grumpy Yeti
- Arena (Harmony Island)
Equipment[]
- Have everyone that is planned to battle be set to a sweeper.
- Everyone that is not expected to be used should be kept a tank.
Strategy[]
- Use as many area spells as possible in rapid succession, and, if possible, use a high-damage Epic Attack.
- If ever low on hearts, make sure to heal everyone by at least 50% of their total hearts.
The Spell-Conservative Model[]
Useful for when the player is low on motivation, time, etc.
Equipment[]
Use the same equipment as one would when using the Energy-Conservative Model.
Strategy[]
- Use as many area spells as possible and take time to heal up!
- Heal repeatedly over multiple turns.
