Chapter 1: Ordinary Kid[]

My name is Zane Legendhunter and I am an ordinary kid. At least that's what I see myself as. I look ordinary and I do ordinary things like eat ice cream, play football, draw and read. I love doing those things. Stuff like that makes me ordinary. However, inside I am not ordinary. I am a wizard. My sister Sydney is at her friend's house now and she will be there for a while. That and you see, I have autism and at times I could be really hyper. I preferred playing alone, I have trouble making eye contact with others. I flap my hands a lot. Most of that has changed now, because of my autism specialist, Dr. Booker. He helped with most of my autism. I also have a really big interest in planes. Not only do I know what types of planes there are, I also know the type of engines they run on. I even know the horsepower of the engines. It's a part of my autism which cannot be treated.

Chapter 2: Family[]

My family is pretty ordinary. I have a mom and a dad, and a sister named Sydney. Grandpa Joe and Grandma Jane, my mom's side grandparents live in Concord, a town in New Hampshire. It's a 2-hour drive from where we live in Boston, Massachusetts, which took me like forever to learn how to pronounce. Because of my autism, I have trouble saying big words. Grandpa Dave and Grandma Quinn, my dad's side Grandparents live in Chappell Hill, NC which is like a 12-hour drive from Boston. Aunt Kate and Uncle Dave and Xavier, my dad's side cousin live in New York City. Uncle Ben and Aunt Mary and Chloe, my mom's side cousin, lives in Los Angeles, which is on the other side of the United States. That's pretty much the only part of my family I know very well. There are others but I have barely ever met them before, like Great Aunt Cindy. Its a big one for sure.

Chapter 3: Academy[]

About a week ago, mom told me that she had got a letter from the Academy. "The Academy is all the way in Prodigy Island" I said. "How will we get there?"

"You're gonna see that pretty soon" said Dad. "Well let's read the letter" said Mom. And we started reading.

"Dear Mr. And Mrs. Legendhunter, your son Zane Legendhunter, has been admitted to the Prodigy Island Academy. For your son to choose his secondary element and to pick up his relic, come to the Academy Great Hall 1 this Sunday. Classes start on Sep. 1.

Hope you have a great rest of your summer!

Sincerely, Gale, the Keeper of the Academy"

"Wow!" said dad. "Looks like you will be going to the Academy, Zane.

"Yeah." I mumbled. I wasn't excited to go to the Academy but I also didn't not want to go either. It was an in-between.

Chapter 4: Relics and Starters[]

"It's Sunday" said dad. "You know what that means."

"We have to go to Prodigy Island right?" I said.

"Yes" said dad. "After everyone has finished breakfast". After a while, we went outside to go to Prodigy Island. We stopped in the middle of a forest.

"Dad?" I asked. "Why are we in the forest?"

"You'll see," said dad as he pulled something out of his pocket. It was an amulet. He also took a wand out of his pocket and tapped it on the amulet. And suddenly a big portal with long purple stripes appeared in the air. I had to shake my head a few times to convince myself I wasn't dreaming.

"What the-" I began. I couldn't finish my sentence. I was shocked.

"You'll hop in with me," he told me with a smile. First mom went in the portal and disappeared. The portal got smaller. "On the count of 3" said dad. "1, 2, 3!" He exclaimed and we both jumped in. It went too quick for me to describe it. "You're lucky," said dad, "most people blow chunks the first time they teleport.

"Teleportation?" I asked.

"Ah, there you guys are," said mom. A few seconds later, a fairy with an oddly gray skin tone and blue robes came flying in. He was barefoot, looked like he was about 18, and had a long, golden, ribbon-like tail. He was holding a book in his left hand while ambidextrously fiddling with a wand in his right hand.

"Hi," he said in a slight British accent, "I'm Gale, the Keeper of the Academy. Come to my office." He escorted us behind a pillar. A door was there. Gale muttered something sounding like "Ion", then the door opened. "Inside," he said while beckoning for us to follow. We all went in.

He opened a drawer at his desk, "So, Zane which element do you want to study?" Looking up he said, "Fire, Water, Earth, Ice, or Storm?"

"Fire," I replied.

"Okay, then this would be your relic," he said handing me a bracelet with a single orange bead on it. "Beads will appear as you get more powerful," explained Gale. "At the end of every year, you must gain 10 magic levels to go on to the next year." He told me. "There are 100 magic levels wizards are grouped into," he paused for a moment, "Your pets have levels too."

Looking rushed, he glanced at the door before saying, "Oh and I nearly forgot - you have to choose your own starter pet to help you." Then he exited the room. He came back a moment later holding 5 creatures, wings fluttering at a dizzying speed. "Here are the Academy's starter pets" said Gale. "Meet Charfoal, Wott, Sproot, Mermina, and Snowfluff".

One looked like a fire pony, which I assumed that was a Charfoal. One looked like a pig-bat with a lighning head, I guess that was a Wott. One looked like a cat with a beak. Due to the leaf, I thought it was Sproot. One looked like a miniature mermaid, probably a Mermina. The last one looked like a dinosaur with ice cubes on it. I assumed that it was a Snowfluff.

"Which one do you want?" asked Gale. "Umm... Snowfluff" I said. "Here you go" said Gale, handing me the shy little creature.

Chapter 5: Noot[]

"Oh, sorry, I'm really forgetful today. There's someone I want you to meet," apologetically said Gale, "This is Noot." Another fairy flew into the room.

Noot was about the size of a baby, reminding me of a cherub. He had a furry tail, a tuft of fur, a cap with a bell on the end and like Gale, he had wings, but they were crystals and hovered in the air. "Hello," said Noot. His voice sounded like a 5 year old's. "I am Noot. Who might you be?" he asked me.

"I'm Zane" I responded, beginning to be overwhelmed.

"Nice to meet you!" he said enthusiastically. "I will be your fairy guide," he said. "I'm also sort of Gale's assistant". Gale playfully rolled his eyes at that.

"Ok," I said. To be honest, I was lost with words. For as long as I can remember, I have known that everyone in my family is a wizard. My human friends at school told me that fairies didn't exist and that was a silly myth. Until today, I thought that fairies were really a myth, but right in front of me were two of them.

Gale ruffled his platinum colored hair, looking at me in an embarrassed manner, "Well um... I'm really busy, but Noot will show you around tomorrow." And so we left.

Chapter 6:Supplies[]

My mom and dad walked over to a shop. My dad looked at me, "You look around while I get what you need for class, okay?" I nodded before he walked off. Looking around, I noticed an old looking book in the corner, titled "Magia".

It's yellowed pages were tattered with age, it's binding was loose, and the ribbons that bookmarked pages of what seemed to be gibberish were faded with time. The cover itself was blue, decorated with gold, but I wondered what such an old book was doing in the shop.

"I wouldn't touch that if I were you," said a voice. I turned around to see Gale. Seeing my confusing he continued, "That certain book is way more trouble then it's worth."

I looked at the book in surprise, then looked up at him, "Aren't you-"

"Busy?" He finished for me. "I still am actually, it's just that I forgot to give you something."

Putting down the book where I found it, I asked, "Again?"

Gale cringed at that comment, "Oof, guess I deserve that. Sorry, just that something has been bothering me all day. Anyhow, I forgot to give you your locker number." He handed me a cream colored piece of paper, with something jotted on to it. "I should get going, besides, your father finished already." Just then, my dad walked in.

I handed my dad the paper. "Uh, Gale?" my dad began, "Could you change the locker passcode?"

"Why?" I asked.

"Take a look" said dad. The password was "poop". I started laughing hard.

"You see?" Said dad.

"Let me see," said Gale taking the paper from Dad. He looked like he was going to faint once he saw it. "Oh shoot, I seriously have to reset this password."

He took out his wand out of his pocket and tapped it on the paper. A little whoosh sound came from it.

"There you go," said Gale. "The new password is 'dirt'."

"At least it's better than the old one" joked dad. We all started laughing. It felt nice.

Chapter 7: Going to the Academy[]

"It's the day" said Dad as I ate my pop-tart for breakfast. "It's the day you go to the Academy".

"Chop-chop" said Mom "Eat your breakfast. We have to get going soon. Sydney is coming in 5 minutes".

"Sydney's coming back today?" I asked as I ate the last bits of my pop-tart.

"Yes" said dad who was eating some cereal. "She has to go to the Academy too" said Dad.

We heard a knock on the door.

"That must be Sydney" said Dad as he got up to answer the door.

"Hi Mom. Hi Dad. Hi Zane" Sydney greeted us as Dad escorted her to the table.

"Have something" said Dad as he handed a slice of bread to Sydney.

"No thanks" Sydney said. "I had a really big breakfast".

"We have got to get going now" said Mom. "Everyone finished their breakfast?"

"Yes" we all said in unison.

"Well change into your robes" said Mom. Me and Sydney changed into our robes. It was a robe with a yellow line running in the middle. It had a fire emblem on it. Sydney came out too, in her robes with a fire emblem on it.

"Well let's go open the portal" said Dad. We all went to the same forest and Dad tapped his amulet again. The same portal appeared again.

"You and Sydney go together" said Dad. "On the count of 3. 1,2,3!"

We both jumped in and ended up in the great hall. There were a bunch of tables aligned in 5 rows. The colors were red, white, blue, green, and yellow. Sydney sat at the red one. I guessed that it was the table for fire students so I sat there too. There was also a stage with a wooden podium. A boy with pale skin and pink hair sat next to me.

"What's your name?" he asked me.

"Zane Legendhunter" I said. "Who might you be?"

"I'm Tristan Frostbrother" he said. "Funny name actually since I am fire".

"Yeah" I said "Where do you come from?"

"New York City" he said. "Where do you come from?"

"Boston" I said.
