WARNING: this fanfiction is rated PG-13 due to containing vast amounts of blood, "some" gore, huge amounts of violence, insanity among characters, foul language, and way too many golem OCs. (I think we need more)
Chapter I: DAUGHTER OF THE SLAUGHTER[]
Blood was spraying into the air. Hearts of golems were torn out of their tattooed chests. Her mother's last words to both her and her brother before the shadow beings stabbed her through her head, reaching all the way down to her body. The echoed screams of the poor little golem child as they fell for eight years straight, before the poor thing's head was smashed into a rock near the shore. The Ancient shrieked as her eyes opened with a glowing cyan light, breathing heavily.
"Must have been another nightmare of the past." they mumbled, her head hurting. It was the middle of the night when they awoke, the island being as peaceful as ever. Trying to pick herself up, the pain of the three seals on her withered stone face increased a slight bit. It's been almost a week since the wizard, Cassie, had met them. The Ancient felt the presence of the young girl completing the Rune Runs and expected that she would complete the runs by tomorrow in order to fight the weary Golem in a trial to free her from the seals that the Order of Influence casted on her. The thought of the shadow beings angered the golem.
"They won't understand my pain, my sorrow for the islanders. They took everything from me." The Ancient grieved. As they spoke those words, the feeling of dread poured over her.
Chapter II: Trial One[]
Cassie, on the other hand, was the exact opposite of what the old golem was feeling. Education at the academy was going smoothly. Cassie still needed to find a few more keystones for the pedestals, and then Gale would be able to fix it. Her parents just gave her a new set of Epics figurines. Nothing can go wrong, can it? Well, something was wrong. Shiverchill mountains had been having trouble with monsters. No ordinary monsters though, The Order of Influence had used their magic to possess crystals and turning them into monstrous minions of theirs. Cassie thought about stopping the problem for a second.
"Nah, it could wait till tomorrow," she said. "There's a whole adventure in front of me tomorrow.". She went outside to play with her friend, Lily Earthfall.
"Hey Lily!"
"Cassie! How have you been doing? How's Wott?"
"He's doing great actually!" Cassie responded. Both girls sat down on a bench near the pet shop in Lamplight Town. Both were silent for quite a while, Lilly beginning to speak.
"Cassie, you've got to let go on your belief of that island thing, people at the academy would start to tease and even bully you! The teachers and even Gale won't believe you."
"I'll prove them wrong, somehow, someway." Cassie thought. She stood up, looking at the shop. All of a sudden, Cassie yelled as she touched Lilly on the shoulder.
"Tag! You're it!" She yelled. Both girls played till sunset, until Lilly had to go home for the day. The thought of being teased, bullied, called names, and losing trust passed Cassie. She had to do something to prove them all wrong, But how? Nobody would believe her right now. Making her final decision, Cassie wanted to take The Ancient's trial first thing in the morning. Climbing into bed, the young girl sighed, tired from her day. She closed her eyes and fell asleep. She awoke around six-thirty in the morning, getting her boat ready to set sail for the island.
"Come on, Wott, we're going.
Unlike her first visit, the ocean was calm, the sky clear as glass. The young girl adjusted her sail as the winds picked up speed. Cassie stood on the front of the boat, Wott on her shoulder, whining.
"Yeah, Yeah, I know you don't like those stone creatures from that cave," She mumbled. "It'll be fine."
Wott whines more as they pulled up to shore. Cassie hopped off the boat and continued on forward. The same blue teleport crystal remained in the middle. Coming up to it, she placed her hand onto its smooth surface. Just then, a blue light circled around the girl and her shaking bat. Teleported to the Ruin Run, they walked. Two hours passed by everything was going smoothly. Suddenly, out of nowhere jumped someone Cassie never encountered before.
"WHAT THE F**K?!? I THOUGHT NO PERSON OF SHADOW COULD STEP ON THIS ISLAND!! WHAT IN GOD'S HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!??! AND OUT OF ALL THE PEOPLE, IT WAS YOU PUPPET MASTER!?!?!"
But before she could attack, he faded away.
Black.
Silence.
Cassie woke up to the yelps of Wott, attempting to wake her up from her "break", which turned into a nap.
"THE ENCOUNTER WAS A F**CKING DREAM?!?!?" Cassie yelled. She sighed and picked herself up.
"Come on, let's go the final battle of the Run." Wott agreed. Meanwhile, as she continued on to the battle, the golems inside the cave were making a ruckus.
"Gloom Soulsealer!! Son, can you stop fiddling around with Cassie's mind?? Having a Puppet Master in front of her will scare the soul out of her!" said the Plant golem. The Storm golem rolled his eye.
"Thats what I intended to do, mother." he told her.
"I know you and your shadows enjoy the fear upon wizards, but why do it at a time when she's in a Ruin Run-"
"HEY HEY HEY!! WHATAYA TALKING ABOUT?!?!" butted in the Ice golem.
"Stay out you numbskull!"
"SHUT UP EMO ED!!"
"Now now, my dear sons, stop fighting. Gloom, don't call your little brother that name, that is very insulting. Glacier, your brother isn't emo." the Plant golem said in a worried manor."
"Mother, you know I now prefer being called my name of honor." said the Storm golem.
"Oh, yes. Right! Pardon me my dear."
The golems sat there in silence looking at each other. Even the Fire golem was silent as a mouse.
"Do you suppose that Edward told Cassie about The Ancient? And the island? And us?" Spoke the Ice golem.
More silence.
"We've never seen him in 100 years, Glacier." The Water golem reminded him.
"He probably did send that idiot girl."
"Gloom!"
"But mother, she is an idiot. She should know that a shadow being can't possibly step foot onto this island."
"Still, it's very rude!"
"It's not when you're telling the truth."
"GLOOM SOULSEALER!!"
"Fine, Fine, I'll stop." The Storm golem rolled his eye.
"Seems like the girl finished the Run." Growled the Fire golem.
"Why, this will be quite exciting!" The Ice golem hyped up.
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhggggggggg, FINALLY." said Cassie teleporting back to the island entrance. Wott looked over her shoulder to see that all six flames lit up. The ground shook as the glowing blue markings appeared onto the floor.
"Great! Now you can take The Ancient's trial!" Exclaimed Noot.
"EEEEEEAAAARGGG! Phew, you scared me there Noot, where were you??" Asked the prodigy.
"Uh, your backpack?"
*sigh* "Let's go guys."
Teleported to the area, Cassie looked around, the awkward looking stone pillars in the ground, everything being the same. Cassie turned around to see the stone head in front of her, their eyes black and soulless. Wott shivered and hit behind Noot at the sight of their stone face, which always made Cassie think: was it horrifying, or a beauty? No matters, the trial was about to begin.
"I am pleased to see you again. Let us begin the first trial." Boomed the deity's voice. Noot flew close to Cassie's ear and whispered:
"You have to be careful Cassie," he said. "You don't know what the Ancient is capable of."
"It's fine Noot. I know better than that."
"Still, I wish you good luck."
Breathing deeply, Cassie approached the being of pure stone. The battle began. Out of nowhere, Cassie casted an astral spell; falling star smash. The golem could barely move because of the seals, causing them to take the blow. The deity stood there, until it closed their eyes tightly, ready to cast a spell. The stone face burst with light as a Sneaking Vine lunged at the young wizard. More spells flew across the air.
- 300 health
Great.
A tenth of the creature's health went down.
Welp, a bunch of more hits to go.
Being the prodigy of the mainland, Cassie knew better. Five Super Novas could do the trick. Not being able to use an all-out attack, she saved up all her magic to use them. How Intelligent she was.
More spells fall to the ground.
More of the deity's health went down. Great, Cassie thought.
Just a few spells until the trial is finished.
But pain surged though her veins and arteries. Side effects? No. The toll she had taken from the spells casted upon her became too great for her to bear. Collapsing to her knees, Cassie groaned in pain. The Ancient seemed to not even mind the pain, nor does it look like they're in pain at all. She couldn't really tell; pain was the only thing on her mind. Upon seeing this, Wott took action and launched a spall at the stone face.
Missed.
The golem looked at the batt, seeing it's determination and care for its master through its blue eyes. Oh, how precious memories came to their mind, ones when they were just in their youth. How long ago that was, they thought. It was billions and billions of years ago. Just by looking at the wizard and her pet, they knew that both of them were the ones worthy of being called "allies", or even better, friends. Cassie looked up at Wott, pointing to her backpack. The bat smartly understood. He pulled out nachos, nachos from when she helped Bok. the Ancient squinted their eyes.
"Isn't that from months ago??" They whispered to themselves, questioning how it was still in good shape after all it gone though. They were too busy thinking about that, not noticing that the wizard gained her strength back, and launched the finishing blow.
She had won the trial, only by a thread. If it hadn't been for the mysterious nacho laying in the bottom of her backpack. Yuck.
The Ancient seemed to bow down, in great honor of the wizard's accomplishment. They closed their eyes painfully as the first seal broke free from their head.
"Very good. My power is returning and the island is growing stronger." The Ancient's voice boomed. "Continue to break these seals until I am free. Goodbye for now."
And in a flash, Cassie and Wott were teleported back to the island.
Chapter III: Starstruck (DON'T. KILL. ME. OK.)[]
Looking up at the ceiling fan holding out her new relic at the lights, Cassie admired the object, shiny and smooth. She sighed, wondering what to do; boredom had consumed her entirely. But a memory hit her: she could stop the crystal creatures in Crystal Caverns!
"How smart you are Cassie!" she yelled, "I could go on another adventure!"
She jumped up, packing her backpack, packed more food, and grabbed Wott aggressively by the wing when he didn't wake up after she shook him to wake up over 4 times already. Wott rolled his eyes as she flew across the air on her cloud towards Shiverchill Mountains. They arrived at the entrance of the mountains, where Noot popped out of Cassie's backpack, only to point at the mysterious creature, the crystal monster.
"Woah! What's that?" Noot exclaimed, just as the monster saw them and skittered away. "Let's follow it!".
They ran after it, running through snow and slippery stones. They stopped, seeing that the creature and its companions were attacking a miner! They had to do something. Cassie took out her wand, challenging it to a battle. The creature's attention turned to her, seeming to forget about the miner. The creatures summoned spikes of crystal into the air, coming straight towards the wizard. She jumped, but not high enough.
-300 HP. Weak...
She then casted an astral spell at it.
-800 HP. Powerful!
She grinned. Wott shot a ball of electricity at all of them, removing most of their health. The creatures started to realize that they weren't powerful enough to beat them, so they ran away.
"Nuts! They escaped!" She spoke. The miner was getting back onto his feet as he brushed specks of crystal and snow.
"Thank you, young wizard! Those crystal creatures had taken over the mountains and attacked us miners!" the old miner said. He pointed deeper towards the caverns. "There was a nice yeti over there who helped us and said that he would go deeper into the mountains to investigate the creatures. Can you check if he is alright?"
Cassie nodded and bid a farewell to the miner as she and Wott descended deeper into the mountains. They battle countless crystal monsters along the way. Cassie grew to be hopeless searching through crates and mounds of snow, as she wished to find loot inside, but pop! out comes another crystal monster. Cassie dragged her worn-down self to the top of the mountain, when suddenly, the sound of crashing and roaring echoed. She rushed up there, Noot and Wott following behind. There was the yeti, as he turned around.
"Hey! You must be the yeti that helped the miners over there! They are worried about you, can you come down here so we could have a peaceful conversation-" Noot gasped. The yeti shot a wave of crystal spikes at them, Cassie grabbing Noot and Wott as they attempted to dodge the attack. "The yeti seems to be corrupted! We need to save him!" Noot exclaimed.
Cassie nodded without hesitation. The battle began. Cassie shot a spell, but it only did one damage. She looked at the three crystals in front of the yeti. "Those crystals must be putting up a barrier of shadow magic, so I'd better aim at them first," She thought. Wott shot a wave of electricity at one of the crystals, as it made the crystal crack a slight bit.
