FourSevensRueful Version |
Incubators are an item type used to facilitate eggs and, sometimes, breeding in Prodigy.
Overview[]
The process of incubation under the FourSevensRueful Version is always necessary to grow and hatch eggs in the fanon game within a shorter timespan. Because the eggs of buddies and monsters/pets take ages to develop and hatch in the wild, any eggs not placed in an incubator will be unable to hatch quickly--those whose hatch method, or list of requirements for hatching, is under "magic required" and/or "membership," will require that the player reaches those respective requirements. Eggs that require waiting and only waiting to hatch can be placed in an empty Egg Slot in the Nesting Grounds and will take 30 days (720 hours) to hatch. If an egg is incubated, however, it possesses a different hatch time depending solely upon the player's properties (egg time decreases by 5% for members after all other factors are applied, save for parent connection--there, egg time may decrease by 2.5% for all connected players' eggs). These properties are independent of each other and stack; they apply for both incubated and non-incubated eggs.
Once a player collects an egg they want to keep, it does not go into their inventory like incubators do--they take up a spot in an Egg Slot and begin the hatching process. Since there is no way of immediately applying anything to an egg as soon as it is taken in, it is impossible to start an egg's incubation as soon as it is taken from its parents. Eggs not noticed by the player do not automatically transfer from their parents to an Egg Slot and cannot begin the hatching process unless recognized and either taken in or rejected. Once an egg is placed inside of an incubator, the egg cannot be removed unless it hatches.
Incubation Factors[]
In the FourSevensRueful version of fanon Prodigy, there are eight (8) known incubation factors, or effects an egg may take on due to incubation or lack of incubation when hatching, exist.
- Incubation itself is an incubation factor--whether or not an egg was ever incubated causes it to gain or lack other incubation factor effects.
- Grade refers to the overall level of benefits an incubator is providing to an egg. Incubators that share a grade might not necessarily share the same other incubation factors, but is used as a generalized quality status of an incubator.
- Hatch Limit refers to the amount of times an incubator can hatch eggs until it breaks and disappears permanently. Incubators cannot be repaired once broken. Previous hatches will not affect the properties of the pet or buddy that emerges from an egg.
- Egg Time is the amount of time an egg has until it hatches; for incubators, Egg Time is the amount of time an egg must spend to hatch inside of it.
- Magic Compatibility is a binary condition, where an incubator allows the player to answer questions to speed up the process of hatching. Only some incubators are magic-compatible. Incubators themselves cannot affect how much egg time is reduced by answering a set amount of questions.
- Favor is present in some incubators that causes certain eggs, depending upon the species of the child, to:
- hatch and reduce the immediate hatch limit by 1/2 instead of 1
- experience 100% faster Egg Time without player properties added
- be magic-compatible even if the incubator is normally not that way
- Irradiation provided by an incubator affects the mutational load of an emerging pet or buddy positively. The following mathematical equation is for the total mutational load percentage of an emerging child (M%), where p represents the total load (normal value) of both parents, g represents the total load (normal value) of all four grandparents, r represents the irradiation value of the incubator used to hatch the child's egg, and s represents the seconds that the egg was irradiated. The range for M% is any value at least 0.00 (0%).
Obtainment Methods[]
Normally, incubators are sold for a variable amount of Copper Coins at the Creature Wellness Shop in the Nesting Grounds. The one provided to the player by Noot is called the "Original Incubator" and is free and available for non-members. It is the only incubator that it not purchasable in the FourSevensRueful version and cannot be sold, traded away, or break. It has a grade of "O," has an Egg Time of 120 hours (120H), is magic-compatible, favors none, and has an irradiation value r=1. The only line of models that require memberships to purchase are Supereconomic, Highly Durable, Speedrunner, High Irradiance, and those have have favor (includes the Epics incubator). If players have an expired membership yet still have members-only incubators, they cannot use them anymore--eggs currently hatching from member-only incubators will be safe and will hatch successfully, but their incubator will break immediately afterwards.

Trivia[]
- Exposed eggs in Egg Slots are all magic-compatible. Some incubators are not magic-compatible because energy from magic may break them.
- If an egg was rejected by the player or some other player, it will appear in the Field of Misfit Eggs and can be adopted. Because of the magical properties of the field, an adopted egg is transferred to an Egg Slot after being taken in and starts with no egg time reduction. Adopted eggs are incapable of hatching unless incubated.
- "Sterile eggs," those not fertilized, cannot be incubated and are not sent to an Egg Slot. They are transferred to the player's bag and can be used as currency or as a throwable item.
- The infertility or decreased fertility of parents do not affect the mutational load, species selection bias, or incubation factors of a fertilized egg.
- Rueful made the decision not to make eggs begin the hatching process before being noticed because they do not think tame pets or buddies are capable of caring for eggs on their own as they are domesticated and unfamiliar with being parents.
- They also know that incubation of certain eggs facilitates growth much more than leaving them alone to the elements, so it would be sensible to make non-incubated egg time constant and of a long duration.
- O-grade incubators are "Outstanding."
Improving Gameplay[]
The implementation of incubation can make hatching Eggs/FourSevensRueful Version a much easier and faster process, allowing greater diversity in mutational load of pets and buddies in Trading/FourSevensRueful Version.
Math Factor[]
Questions must be answered for Eggs/FourSevensRueful Version whose hatch method is under "magic required" regardless of the Egg Time of an incubator.
