This is a guide about Mira Shade and the Dark Tower, and includes tips on how to defeat Mira and the tower quickly and effectively. For more detailed information on her and her tower, articles in PMGW are linked below.
I've heard from several players that they could never beat Mira no matter how many times they had tried. It can be frustrating and often leads to players refusing to go back to the area again. The goal for this study guide is to give you tips on how to beat Mira.
Dictionary[]
Floors - There are 100 floors in the Dark Tower, and Mira is at the very last floor. In other words, "floor" would also mean a level or story on a building.
Sets of 5 or 10 - Note that these are definitions freely created. There is no official definition in the game. This just groups every floor into a group of 5 or 10. So if it is grouped into fives, you would have Floors 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in one group, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the next, and so on. Any floor number that is a multiple of 5 is a "checkpoint" where you can freely leave the tower while it saves your progress (i.e. floors 5, 10, 15, 20). If it is grouped into tens, you would have Floors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 in one set. Every floor with a multiple of ten is where Mira will give you 500 gold coins.
Groups of 2-3 Monsters (Mini-Boss) - This just means that in the monster team you are battling, there is more than one solo monster.
All-Out Attack - All-Out Attacks are one of the most powerful spells possible to cast (Focus spells are stronger). This spell puts in all of the energy and spell damage your entire team can cast together. Having two pets with you, and having yourself and your pets be as high of a level as a possible will cause the most damage.
3-range Attacks (Area Spells) - There are two types of attack styles you can cast: one is that you only deal damage to the direct opponent facing you, the other is that you can affect the health of everyone on your opponent's team. The first kind of attack, which is the first kind of spell you can unlock, is usually referred to as a "1-range" attack. The second is usually referred to as a "3-range" attack, although references may vary from time to time.
Food - Food is similar to a potion. It will heal your health level; the amount it heals depends on the amount that the food description states.
HP - HP is just an abbreviation for the health bar (or in other words, health points) of your wizard or pet.
Mira Shade[]
Mira Shade is a boss in the Dark Tower. It is rumored she owns all of the pets in her tower, thus you cannot rescue any of them.
Mira wears her Mira's Hood, but with three opals on top, and Mira's Robes. She has purple eyes and light blue hair.
The Dark Tower[]
The Dark Tower is a tower in Prodigy. It has is medieval style, and is built of gray stone with a deep purple top.
Battling Through the Floors[]
The Dark Tower is built of 100 floors, so you must carefully plan out every time you enter a new set of 5 floors.
In the first few floors, it may be easy to beat the monsters; one shot, depending on what level your wizard is. However, as you progress, the monsters will become stronger and have higher health levels, and you must be sure to save up lots of food. There is one boss on Floor 50, and the other multiples of 10 will have groups of 2-3 monsters. However, make sure you can save All-Out attacks as much as possible for when you really need it.
It is crucial that if you wish to leave the tower, you must leave at a multiple of 5. If you leave at any other floors, your progress will not be saved. It is like a checkpoint. Also, if you are extremely unlucky and the chance wheel continuously gives you heart reductions, damage reductions, etc., be sure to occasionally leave the tower once in a while, just to make sure you can save up enough food for when you actually really need it.
On Floor 90, you will be battling a copy of your own team. So, if up till then, you were using powerful pets, leave the tower at Floor 90, and come back with weaker pets. When you reach Floor 95, leave the tower again so that you can regain your health and swap into stronger pets because you will be battling Mira soon. If possible, level up your pets a bit before you reenter to Floor 95.
Battling Mira[]
Mira is a powerful boss, and she can perform practically every spell in the game. The only spell she cannot perform is Ink Blot, which is unique to Old One only.
It is not really clear how many hearts Mira has, but it is assumed that she has 72 to 92k hearts. Hopefully, by now, when you are fighting Mira Shade, you have saved up an All-Out attack, and use that shot first. IF you are lucky enough, you might be able to one-shot her and win. However, this is usually not the case. It is also not extremely clear whether 3-range attacks will have a stronger impact on her health, because she seems to be only one wizard, and that could mean that the 3-range attacks would have the same effect as a 1-range attack would.
Make sure after you use your All-Out attack, continuously use Falling Star Smashes, and then once you can save up to a Super Nova, use it on her (assuming that all of the usual 3-range attacks will combine into one and create a bigger effect). You could also save up an All-Out attack again and use it. Since it is not clear how many hearts Mira has, it will depend how many shots you will have to use on her.
When battling Mira, whenever you are getting super close to losing all of your health for your wizard (estimate if she could defeat your remaining HP for your wizard based on how much damage she can do), eat some food or use a a potion. Note that you can only use one-wizard/pet effective potions and foods. Use your food wisely. So only use it when you absolutely need it (i.e. your wizard's health is draining away).
For food: to be safe, use a 75% healing food. If you think you could make-do with less depending on how much health you have left, you could also use a 50% healing food.
For potions: usually use damage bonuses and critical chance ups. If you want, you could use a damage bonus potion first for your first move, and after Mira attacks you and it is your turn again, use your All-Out attack so that you can cause more damage than a regular All-Out attack would.
Other Tips[]
If you wish, make sure the math problems you are receiving for spells are easy enough for you to guarantee that you can be correct every time. Precision is crucial in the Dark Tower, and especially in later floors, you must make sure that you can guarantee every spell you cast works, and that you do not miss a single problem.
In the event that you do not have much food (i.e. you used a lot in the Harmony Island arena), save up lots of Shivers, play some Crystal Caverns, and when you get to the Yeti merchant, buy lots of food if you think you will need it. If you don't wish to buy food, you could also definitely just play lots of Crystal Caverns and Harmony Island (not the arena, just the actual island) because both places are infested with lots of food in chests, crates, snow piles, bushes, etc. (Note: do NOT play in arena if you want to save up food; the arena will most likely make you eat food to win battles, but in Harmony Island, the monsters are not capable of eating food, and you can quickly defeat them). Try not to use any food in other places when you are preparing to battle Mira Shade. Reduce the amount of time you spend in the Harmony Island Arena, and even in Crystal Caverns or Harmony Island, try not to use any food at all (it is definitely possible if you are careful with the way you are casting spells and defeating monsters.
Tips From Others[]
Angmas/Flame Dancer Angel - Mira did around 2000 damage to me (Lvl 95 wizard). I wore Duelist Boots, Draconyx Gear, and Cupids Hat. Magmischief's Hot Snow spell is probably pretty effective even if Mira isn't extremely vulnerable to fire spells (note that this only works for Epic owners).
That is definitely some nice luck! For others, Duelist Boots is currently the only Heart Bonus 8 boots, and it is now unobtainable. Draconyx Gear is part of one of the three Heart Bonus 8 sets, and you can purchase this at the Summerfest (for another Heart Bonus 8 set, you could wear the Black Fang set). For Cupids Hat, you can really wear anything that has a Heart Bonus of 6.
The amount of damage done by Mira will depend on what level your wizard (and possibly pets) are. If you are around Lvl 100, the amount of damage dealt by her could be 3600-5000 depending on her spells. If you are around a Lvl 60, the amount of damage you receive might be around 2000 (this information is currently an estimate.
