Newton is a character who does not yet appear in any stories.
Appearance[]
In both lives, Newton maintains his normal height and hairstyle—one and two-thirds of a meter tall and wavy, shoulder-length hair, respectively.
Nobody could ever coax him to smile, so barely anyone has seen him do that.
First Life[]
He had deep brown hair up until his late twenties when it began to gray from stress. After trying to dye it golden blonde and wearing wigs, he embraced the new coloring. He almost never put his hair up unless he was practicing alchemy or working on his nameless contraptions. He was always pale and only ever received faint freckling from standing too close to an open window facing the sun; whenever he went outside, he wore a brimmed hat or stayed under the shade of trees. All of his teeth were offwhite because he used to drink chai twice daily. His fingernails frequently chipped from yard work and writing, but he filed them almost immediately afterwards because of his perfectionism.
He used to be very sessile and avoided moving from his chair on days of extreme weather, so he was on the heavier side of the healthy weight range. However, during dark winters, he would take better care of his body and would tend to his wounds faster because of cultural fears surrounding infection during the cold season. Since his milieu of origin did not know much about healing, he accumulated a number of not-so-pretty scars on his limbs and sides from reckless running and rubbing his cats the wrong way.
After accumulating wealth, he graduated from simple linen shirts, pants, cheap hose, and shoes to more frilly fashion. He liked shades of red and green on him the most, but he wore only pastels, brown, black, and white as an elder.
Second Life[]
While his hair is gray, it is very thick and grows quickly and almost always looks like it needs combing. He has a streak of pastel yellow strands from becoming imbued with Astral magic. He had one replaced molar and longer canines than most other people. He only drank water and potions in his second life, so they are more white now than they were at home. He had neck marks that he tried to hide with collars; they healed up and reopened in different places. Just like flowers to an allergic person, he regretted getting them even though in the moment he enjoyed it.
Additionally, he had a very scary stare. Partnered with his unnatural yellow eye color that came from a mistake when he transferred his consciousness to the Prodigy world, younger people would be inclined to avoid getting on his bad side after catching a glimpse of his domineering look. The darkness under his eyes after not getting enough sleep (he almost never did in his second life) added contrast, which intensified the effect.
After being exposed to the different styles of dress in Prodigy, he found that sometimes he liked to dress in green academia-style clothing, mostly tweed and thick cotton. Upon defeating several enemies he had enough gold to spend on protection, so he purchased a full set of black plate armor that complimented his wedding band. He never wore the helmet because it was too claustrophobic for him, and he eventually donated it to a member of the Fox Knights.
Personality[]
First Life[]
Like every other human, he had hopes, dreams, and fear—his fears used to be most notable of these three. His independent lifestyle from a young age made it his personal responsibility to defeat them, and in a sense he defeated very few on his own. Having learned about nature from his adventures in the forest and fields by his first few homes, he gained irrational fears of specific wildlife. Additionally, he gained trauma from being harassed in school and from having lived in isolation from his mother and from disease.
He enjoyed spending his childhood constructing simple machines made of wood and cheap metal, eventually creating more complex builds of his own design. His creativity landed him to pursue a career in hard math and expand upon human knowledge greatly. He ran his life assuming the world was simple and completely explicable using natural science and the core of his philosophy—absolutism—never changed. He rarely had a thought that strayed from "black and white."
Upon meeting a set of reverse time travelers (who he thought of as either witches or demons) in his middle and later years, he felt that he was unsure of his mental stability and had a mental breakdown. One of them, FSR.vpk, stayed to take care of him and eventually convinced him that she was a real human being. It took quite a while for him to come to that realization because he fervently believed in absolute time which would forbid time travel. He was delighted to have a permanent human friend that was not as fickle as his pen pals, and he eventually agreed to follow her into the Prodigy universe to cheat death.
As crafty as he was, he had the idea to create an inert body double so that he appeared to have died. Since at the time he devised the plan he was too weary to construct the substitute himself, he had FSR.vpk create a stillborn clone.
Second Life[]
Newton has layers--he cares not for strangers or enemies of his. If forced to be acquainted with someone, he will try his best to be respectable to a degree, but not for anyone's gain but his own. His apathy for minor problems on the island like the unfair treatment of monsters and dwarves in comparison to wizards and pets capable of verbal communication may make him seem like an absolute jerk, but the island inhabitants of his time cast him out for being too human and too different. His human relatives in the real world were unforgiving and did not value his needs. He criticized his critics both there and in Prodigy Island, causing great fights between him and the other Wardens that founded Lamplight Academy.
He shared a lot of problems that his friends Tesla and Halley had with real-world people skeptical to accept their claims about the behavior of the natural world; being pitted against other bright-minded humans to found an Academy in an entirely different universe was even more of a challenge to his ego. However, he realized that he and his co-founders were powerless without magic and required The Ancient's help. Once Newton provided them with knowledge, they provided him and his team with uncut stones that produced great yet balanced magical energy. Taking this as a sign of trust, Newton no longer held prejudice against the monsters of the island and soon learned that he had The Ancient on his side.
He is also the type of person to think apartment complexes are actually simple and that shrimp do fry rice. Stargazing and recognizing Prodigy's constellations became his tertiary passion under logical paradoxes and love.
Gear[]
- Alchemical Bag: A small kit containing vials of potions, poisons, and a waste product jar. Nothing in it is edible.
- Books: He almost always has at least one on his person unless bathing or sleeping. Some are spellbooks, others are treatises, and some are collections of love letters.
- Glass Pyramid: A staff that could temporarily turn into the Resonant Aether polearm when he is filled with resolve.
- Light Chainmail: If he needed to fight a stronger enemy he would wear hose, leggings, and a long-sleeved shirt of linked mail.
- Plate Armor: When wearing mail he would also don thin, strong plates of black steel. Often he only needed to wear a gorget, greaves, thick boots, joint plating, shoulder plates, hip plates, and multiplated chest armor. Anything else would be too heavy for him.
- Scope: A large spyglass with a tripod. It has almost no chromatic aberration.
- Snacks: He always brought around tasty food, like avocados, bananas, figs, and chocolate. He only ate them when he'd be alone for a long time.
- Tesla's Script: A small magical piece of paper Newton kept in one of his working gloves. It helped him cast Galvanized Glass.
- Wedding Band: It is an irremovable cable choker forged into a simple torus shape. It glows perpetually white in some sections. The sturdy black metal is engraved with very small, unreadable Latin. To him it held more value than a ring because it was easily visible. When he first got married he disliked the texture, but it eventually grew on him. The band itself is blessed so that the love between its maker and wearer is eternal.

Astral Magic: Possesses it from having experimented with alchemical means of gaining magic.- Academic Intelligence: Developed Newtonian calculus on his own.
- Evil Eye: An uncomfortable stare he shoots at people to make them fall in line. It works on any creature that isn't blind.
- Inner Chad: He has a healthy perception of masculinity and isn't afraid to share his insecurities with close friends.
- Sorcery: He can spellcast just as well with a weapon as he would without one. One could say that his hands themselves were magical.
- Stamina: He liked to be physically active, so he could swim, climb, and do *cough* other activities for long periods of time without needing to rest.

- All-Nighter Veteran: He needs little rest at night to function. Usually about six hours is good enough, but eight hours is ideal.
- Charm Resistance: He was nearly immune to all forms of infatuation magic.
- Enigmatic Face: He had a resting poker face and almost never smiled or laughed when appropriate, which definitely intimidated people.
- High Dexterity: He was more spry for an aging man than anyone would think.
- Numerically Oblivious: He did not know more colloquial meanings for numbers such as 34, 69, 420, and 8008135 until FSR.vpk told him privately.
- Pain Tolerance: After decades of injurious adventures he gained thick skin but only physically.
- Strangely Hot: People made exceptions for him based on his appearance and accent.
- Very Quotable: Self-evident.
- Writes Eloquently: Also self-evident.
Weaknesses[]

- Fear of Parasitism: He was mortified of leeches, ticks, and mosquitoes if they got near him.
- Germophobic: He hated being reminded of the bubonic plague, so he cleaned himself frequently and ate probiotics because he only trusted good bacteria.
- Getting into Arguments: If someone picked a verbal fight with him, he never knew to just walk away. Rarely he fought back, so most of the time he just stood there, embarrassed, trying not to say something insulting in return.
- Guilt: After meeting FSR.vpk who was very knowledgeable of his relationships with his enemies, he realized that blackmailing people isn't nice and now he had no ability to apologize because his enemies are dead.
- Parental Insults: He is embarrassed by his lack of knowledge over his biological father that shared his name, and he shuts down after being reminded of his "promiscuous" mother.
- Sadism: Whenever he had a severe mental breakdown he found some joy in stepping on ants and setting plants on fire.
- Social Anxiety: He tried to avoid eye contact at all costs and liked to be alone when not around close friends.
- Stuttering and Mutism: In unusual situations with strangers he sometimes couldn't pronounce words properly and sometimes couldn't speak at all.
Trivia[]
- Newton's name, backstory, appearance, and personality are heavily derived from that of Isaac Newton except for the impossible and fantastical parts of this Newton's character.
- Newton became a vegetarian later in life because of his fear of parasites.
- His fighting style draws from fencing, one-handed swordsmanship, and European-style combative dance.
- Newton was often Lawful Neutral in alignment, but when he felt merciful (which is uncommon but not unheard of) he took on more Lawful Good traits.
