Obscurity is a free-to-use substrand of the Shadow element that takes inspiration from the Void substrand.
Overview[]
Being a substrand of the seventh element, very few people have the ability to obtain this elemental nature and even fewer will have the ability to master combat using the obscurity substrand. There are no wardens for this substrand because it is neither one of the five primordial elements nor a substrand of the Astral element. It, being the first substrand to be understood by the original dark wizards of the Order of Influence, was once considered more well-known to wizardkind than the more modern substrands.
Wizards and other intelligent entities are capable of using the obscurity substrand and the associated practices of capnomancy, or the control of obscuring substances. Most people today associate members of the Order of Influence as masters of other elements as well, using reactions between the naturally-occurring obscuring force to "muddy up" other elements. For example, if the Puppet Master were to use capnomancy on a campfire, smoke would rise more quickly.

- Traditional capnomancy involves obtaining psychic messages from the direction in which smoke blows. It is used in this way as the "divination or control of the obscuring force within the Prodigy universe."
- Capnomancy can be used for smoke signals, which the older Order of Influence used to notify each other during the day who would host their covens' meetings at night.
