Patches is a merchant character in Prodigy that vends equipment items, buddies, and steel tools.
Appearance[]
They are a giant, six-legged, anthropomorphic case-making caddisfly larva with some of their case surrounding their legs like sleeves/shorts. They use four of their legs to stand up and two to hold a wooden crate of wares in front of them. Their face is circular and insectoid and has segments like their body and legs, which each show three tan-beige segments outside of the case. Their eyes are circular and are attached to the front of their face, but are small and only appear as dots. They have dark, thin jaws surrounding a pale, robotic smile.
Their case is offwhite in color from all of the silk used to make it, and contains pink snail shells sparsely placed, almost like decorations, around it. Blue and green patches of cotton and linen fiber cover all of the holes.
Personality[]
They are dull and appear emotionally numb. They show little outward expression except that of excitement for the player's purchases.
Weapons/Gear[]
They possess weapons and gear to sell, but only wear their signature caddisfly case.
Abilities[]
- Multilingual: Patches can speak in both Monster and Wizard.
Trivia[]
- They got their name from their inspired animal, caddisflies. As larvae, they usually protect their silken case with pebbles, sandy soil, and whatever else they can obtain in the riffle of lakes. There are some non-case-making caddisflies that prefer to not make cases or spin thin webs for themselves.
- Patches takes pride in her case and repairs holes with patches instead of silk because of how difficult it is to produce in the later stages of life. Despite looking downtrodden, she is not of a bad socioeconomic status.
