Kobe was floating in a tube full of spring water, asleep. He was hooked up to air. Suddenly, he woke up.
He saw the inside of Ben's lab from behind some glass. Ben was working on a new machine.
He pounded on the glass.
Ben turned around, and opened the healing tank.
"Finally, you're healed. What were you doing, playing around in an abandoned military base anyways?" he said.
"It's a long @$$ story, I don't wanna talk about it." replied Kobe.
"Whatever. Anyways, I have your Pet Disk, you'll need your pets for this."
"What for?"
"Simply put, I'm gonna send you on an incredibly dangerous issue that you aren't equipped to handle, and I'm gonna pretend that I did it for humanity's sake, when in reality I just wanted some decent entertainment."
Kobe did a double take.
"You see, the problem is that everyone catches me doing sociopathic stuff, yet nobody calls you out whenever you do sh*t like this." he said.
"That's because I'm not you." replied Ben.
Ben held up his new device.
"This will open a rift to another dimension. Now, I'm not a total monster, the second reason I'm sending you to this dimension is because there's some yandere roaming a school, and she has the power to summon demons to fight for her when she needs help." he said.
"So basically a more evil, even deadlier version of me."
"Yes."
Ben threw the device on the ground, creating a rift.
"Luckily for you, no deaths yet. Also, I'm giving you a new phone so that I can send you info on anybody you meet."
Kobe took the phone.
"If you die, nobody will miss you." said Ben
"Yeah, I already knew that." replied Kobe.
"Welp, break a leg, preferably your own."
"Screw you too."
Kobe hopped inside of the rift, ready to get screwed over in some capacity.
The landscape around the pet trainer retained a familiarity, but also a loss of the vibrant nature his home once had. Instead, the island was covered in a black mist, a silhouette of rubble laid on the ground, with a somewhat familiar figure sitting on top of it. Notably, Harmony Island, or what would have been visible of it, was no longer visible in the distance, likely having returned under the water once more.
"Huh. Somehow, it still looks better than the hellscape from my nightmares." said Kobe.
He walked around, spear in hand.
A few wizards were walking about, but something didn't look right about them. It was almost like they were...lifeless?
Kobe walked around the desolate landscape, entirely on edge.
Eventually, he decided to summon Arbite.
Arbite slapped Kobe.
"Nice to see you too, buddy."
Arbite and Kobe started walking around before finding the remnants of Lamplight Town.
A few wizards took notice of the pet trainer, turning to face him. What was now visible to the trainer were purple eyes and an abnormal dark grey skin tone constant throughout all of them.
The trainer clutched his spear, while Arbite charged a blast of electricity.
The dark mist seemed to coil around the wizards' hands, their eyes glowing brighter as the mist grabbed at their shoulders.
"Arbite, FIRE!" ordered Kobe.
Arbite blasted the wizards. The wizards took a step back, but advanced once more, now firing balls of Shadow magic at the young boy. Other corrupted wizards were alerted of the commotion and began to make their way over.
Kobe deflected some of the blasts, but was ultimately knocked backwards into a wall.
Tendrils slithered towards the pet trainer, grabbing his ankles and reaching upwards, intending to engulf Kobe entirely.
Kobe concentrated with all his might, and managed to fire off a star smash at the tendrils.
The tendrils receded with a flinch, freeing Kobe.
Kobe fell to the ground, almost cracking his skull.
He got back up, rubbed his head, and ran off.
When he reached a safe place, he pulled out a phone.
"I thought there was gonna be a yandere in a school!" said Kobe.
"Oh, yeah. I made a miscalculation. Save this universe first, though." replied Ben before hanging up.
Kobe ran back out there.
"I have eyes and ears everywhere, new toy. You won't ever escape."
Kobe stopped running.
"Heh, it's almost like I heard a voice." he said.
"Enjoy your freedom while you still have it."
Every wizard within a mile radius stood erect and turned their heads in Kobe's direction, staring eerily at his location, regardless of whether they could see him or not, gaze adjusting with each step he took.
Kobe turned to Arbite.
"Run- I mean, fly. I got a plan." he said.
Arbite refused, and just kept floating.
Kobe kept firing all sorts of Astral spells at the wizards, only knocking them back a bit more than Arbite's blasts.
Arbite, on the other hand, stole his trainer's Pet Disk, summoned Cloud Neek, and scared him, causing the neek to instinctively zap everyone in a 10ft radius.
The wizards remained standing and staring, the electricity dispersing into the mist, disappearing quickly after.
That's when Kobe got an idea.
He grabbed Cloud Neek, and ran off towards the nearest body of water.
The wizards began marching towards the boy and his Cloud Neek.
Kobe and Cloud Neek hopped into a pond, and waited for the wizards to enter.
The wizards waded in, focused intently on Kobe and his pet.
Kobe and Cloud Neek leaped out of the pond.
"Cloud Neek, thunderbolt attack!" said Kobe.
Cloud Neek zapped the pond.
"Whoever said that this is illegal clearly never heard of life or death situations!" said Kobe.
The wizards standing in the pool convulsed rapidly, collapsing into the water with small splashes.
"Useless human vessels."
While Arbite started pulling the bodies out of the water, Kobe and Cloud Neek ran over to Skywatch.
After the somewhat short journey up the Bean-o-Vator, Kobe summoned Tarragon, and had him fly the two of the to the Epics' Subspace.
The epics were coated in peanut brittle.
Kobe broke out Arctursus, and commanded him to cover the perimeter of the island in ice shards.
The wizards narrowed their purple eyes, focusing on the Epics Subspace above.
"I don't know what to do now, so, everybody, attack!" said Kobe
Everyone fired their respective elemental attacks at the wizards below.
A few wizards teleported into the subspace, entering the main Epics area, advancing towards Kobe. "Alright, you're no longer a fun toy." The wizards simultaneously prepared Shadow Shocks, taking aim on Kobe, Arctursus, and Kobe's pets.
Kobe braced himself, when a rift opened above his head, and a yellow ray gun fell on his head, with a note attached.
"Here, it's pretty clear you can't fight them yourself. I loaded this with all the astral energy I kept in jars. Use it wisely, or you're dead, and I'm telling your parents that you hanged yourself.
-Ben"
Kobe fired up the ray gun, and fired it at the wizards.
The wizards dodged the blast, advancing towards the wizard, Shadow Shocks raised above their heads.
Until they began to shrink.
The stray blast of Astral Magic struck an icicle, diffracted, and traveled to other icicles, blazing through the mist as the rays multiplied with each entry through the icicles. In a matter of seconds, the ground below was filled with flashing light that quickly dispersed, shattering the icicles, and ultimately, destroying the mist entirely. The island inhabitants were freed from the control of the shadow corruption, the elemental locations regained their usual, colorful charm, the epics were freed once more, Harmony Island rose above the water once more, and the balance of the elements seemed to have returned.
Kobe stood in shock for a few minutes.
He then jumped for joy.
I did it! I did it almost all by myself! I freed an entire dimension!" he said, estatic.
He turned to Arctursus.
"See ya, new friend." he said.
Ben opened a rift, and Kobe and his pets walked through.
Kobe, Arbite, Cloud Neek and Tarragon entered the other side of the rift to find a huge school.
Also, Kobe was taller, and he took notice.
He called Ben.
"Yo, Uncle Ben, why am I taller?" he asked.
"Oh, yeah, so this yandere is in high school, and you have to be at least 14 to go there, so I aged you up by 2 years." replied Ben.
"But if the minimum age is 14, and I used to be 13, why did you age me up by two years?"
"The girl in question is 15, so I aged you up to 15 so that you can be in her class so that you can investigate further."
Kobe hung up, and walked onwards.
The hallways were abnormally sparse, and it took Kobe a few seconds to understand. He was about to be late.
Kobe took off running into a random classroom.
The teacher turned to him.
"Mr. Kemono, you're late." she said.
Kobe was dumbfounded.
Kemono? he thought. Rats, Uncle Ben must have given me a new last name as well age me up.
Kobe took a seat, and saw a girl with black hair, staring at a piece of paper on her desk. He would have investigated it, but he had to be inconspicuous.
When class ended, Kobe got up from his seat, and followed the black haired girl into the halls.
She went into a room labeled, "Occult Club".
Kobe peered inside of the room.
The girl started whispering a chant, and a demon came out of a circle in the middle of the room.
Kobe yelped in shock, and the black haired girl looked at the door.
She pointed at the trainer.
"Get him." she said, coldly.
Kobe took out his pet disk.
"Cloud Neek, I choose you!" he said.
Cloud Neek stood in front of Kobe, staring the demon down.
Neither one of them made the first move.
The demon charged at the Cloud Neek, swatting it to the side and lunging at Kobe.
Kobe dodged, and ran for Cloud Neek.
"Cloud Neek! Buddy! I'm so sorry, I didn't know that you couldn't handle-"
Cloud Neek zapped Kobe in an attempt to shut him up.
Cloud Neek got back up, and faced the demon.
The demon swiped at the storm-elemented pet.
Cloud Neek jumped out of the way, and shocked the demon.
The demon growled in frustration, shaking itself, before unleashing fireballs upon the pet.
Cloud Neek was resilient, and stood in place before firing a more powerful blast of electricity.
The demon staggered back, notably closer to the summoning circle. It unleashed more fireballs.
Cloud Neek got into some sort of fighting stance.
Kobe threw him a pair of boxing gloves.
Cloud Neek put on the gloves, and flew at the demon, hitting it in the face.
"Alright, that 'Rocket Punch' attack worked just as planned!" exclaimed Kobe.
The demon stumbled backwards, stepping into the summoning circle, falling through, and being transported back to wherever it came from.
"An ice cream cone? Seriously? You lost, to a floating ice cream cone!" The girl hissed through the portal. closing it.
Kobe and Cloud Neek jumped for joy.
Then, they got serious.
"Alright, whoever you're trying to kill, stop it." said Kobe as he pulled out his spear.
The girl charge at Kobe, headlocked him and poked him in the back with a knife. Another demon crawled out the circle, glaring at Kobe and his pet.
Kobe cried out, and Tarragon barreled down the hall, aiming for the girl and her demon.
The girl swore under her breath, roughly turning herself and Kobe to face the incoming wyvern, knife now poised in front of Kobe's throat.
That's when Arbite finally showed up after scaring some kids to death, and blasted the girl.
Kobe and the girl went flying into Tarragon, who knocked them both through a glass window, only for them to fall down a hill.
The demon looked out the window, decided that this wasn't worth its time, shrugged, and went back into the portal, closing it.
Kobe escaped the girl's hold, and poised his spear to strike.
"Don't even think about it!" he said.
"No, I think I will," the girl responded, twirling her knife. Behind her, a torrent of flames emerged from the top of the school, demons crawling out of it and entering the school. Screams of fear and agony could be heard no more than five seconds later as the otherworldly creatures began their rampage.
"Alright, you know what?"
Kobe stabbed the girl with his spear, but didn't kill her.
He walked away clutching a capsule.
Students flooded out of the doorway, trying to get as far away from the school as possible.
Kobe threw some capsules at the demons, trapping them instantly.
More demons swarmed out of the portal, while others attacked trapped students.
"Alright, this isn't working."
Kobe pulled out the Astral Blaster.
"RIP AND TEAR!" he yelled as he fired his blaster.
The otherworldly creatures screeched in pain when the blasts of Astral Magic pierced through them, attracting the attention of other demons. The nearby demons released war cries, releasing their victims and charging at the boy.
Kobe and his pets fired 4 blasts of elemental energy at once, absolutely obliterating the demons.
Meanwhile, on the roof of the school, the flames spread, damaging the roof and sending flaming pieces crashing onto the tiled third floor. the fire continued from there, tossing pieces of the floor to other floors below, where it could consume and burn more.
Kobe pressed a button on his disk.
"AQUASTER, I CHOOSE YOU!"
Aquaster was summoned, and put out most of the fires.
Partially burned, injured, and maimed students crawled past Kobe, each rasping out warnings to the pet trainer.
Kobe and Aquaster ran further into the school, with Aquaster putting out any fires.
They got to the Occult Club room, and destroyed the circle by ripping off the tape forming it.
Somehow, they both got out safely, and Kobe gave Aquaster a pat on the head.
"You did great out there!" he said, happily.
The black-haired girl, meanwhile, tried to crawl away from the scene, unnoticed, blood dripping from her side.
Arbite noticed, grabbed her arms, and flew her up into the sky.
The girl flailed, screaming, "PUT ME DOWN!" repeatedly.
Arbite grinned evilly.
About a few minutes later, the girl was put down, traumatized as hell.
Within a few minutes, students were rushed to hospitals in ambulances, while others were picked up by their parents or comforted by local law enforcement.
"Yeesh, this reminds me of something, I just can't put my finger on it..." said Kobe.
Arbite facepalmed.
Parents walked up to the young hero, repeatedly thanking him and his pets for saving their kids' lives.
Back in the remains of the school, a gray ice cream-shaped pet chucked the charred body of a mauled demon out of a window, electricity still coursing through its body. Cloud Neek then burst out of the hole in the window and body slammed the demon's remains, deciding then that the job was done and headed over to Kobe.
"Cloud Neek!" said Kobe.
He gave his friend a hug.
"You did great, thanks for your help!"
And with that, another rift opened.
Kobe and his pets were transported back to the laboratory, where Ben greeted them.
"Hello you worthless pieces of scum. You've successfully saved some universes. I remember when you first left home with that stupid looking Cloud Neek of yours. You were so stupid. You still are, but you've gained a little bit of intelligence. Anyways, your victories were somewhat of your own doing, but also of your pets', so be sure to congratulate them." said Ben.
"I already did." said Kobe, smiling.
And with that, he picked up his Cloud Neek as if he was holding a baby, and was about to leave with his pets when Ben stopped him.
"Oh hell no, you need to save at least one more universe before you can go back to being homeless." he said.
Kobe sighed, and walked back into the rift with his pets.
Oh well.
At least his life had purpose.
