SPICY, SPIKY TOMATO SOUP

By: TWSBETe30 / Benita and Weeptchis

It was a day where the snow began to fall from the sky. The air was becoming colder, not even our magic could keep ourselves warm, so at a nearby café, we ordered a wholesome meal of spicy, spiky tomato soup, one of my most favourite kinds of soup to eat on a cold day.

The smell of the soup made our pet book begin shaking! The book opened by itself, and out popped our very loyal pet Ashlet.

Smelling the scent of the tomato soup, the bird hopped onto the table and stared at the bowl, as if she's asking for a sip. So I agreed. Ashlet dipped her beak into the soup for a mouthful.

Then, her eyes sparkled. She let out a very happy chirp, then began drinking all the soup herself!

We were left without any more soup to drink. Our tummies started to rumble. Even the tomato soup was sold out, so we had to look somewhere else.

"Naughty Ashlet! Go back into the pet book! Now!" My assistant scolded her pet and poor Ashlet vanished into thin air.

"I have an idea! Why not go to Bonfire Spire to prepare our own spicy, spiky tomato soup?" I asked my assistant, and she replied, "Why not? Let's go!" So we teleported to Bonfire Spire with our magic.

Inside the Spire, the heat made us feel cozier than our home. However, Slurpy wasn't there to greet us. Maybe he was busy in the kitchen. We headed to the royal palace and bowed to Queen Goo-lia, who said, "Well, well, well. If it isn't that one wizard who saved us! What brings you here?"

My assistant replied, "Greetings, your majesty. We came to eat, however, my pet Ashlet drank all our tomato soup. Is Slurpy here?" Queen Goo-lia answered with " Well, yes! He's downstairs with Cebollini." She smells the air. "Ahhh, they must be preparing something delicious!"

In the kitchen were chefs Slurpy and Cebollini, preparing for a large feast for the royal staff. It took a while for them to notice us. When they did, Cebollini yelled, "Hey! It's you two again! Get out! You are not allowed to be here anymore!" As he was about to kick us out, Slurpy stopped him. "Hey there!" Slurpy said to us, "Sorry, but my master's having a hard time dealing with our task. Do you need help with something?"

We explained why we came to him. "Oh... so your pet drank all your tomato soup? You must be hungry." Luckily, Slurpy let us volunteer by helping him prepare the feast. There was turnip stew (especially for the queen), some roasted turkey for the holiday season, and a few more local delicacies, including spicy, spiky tomato soup!

We were also invited to the feast, but as soon as they served us the tomato soup, out came Ashlet, who drank it all up again! How mischevious, fluffy Ashlet! I guess we won't be eating spicy, spiky tomato soup today then!

The Storm

By: TheAroAceLink

A light snow fell over Lamplight Town as the people of Prodigy prepared for Winterfest. Wizards hung decorations as their pets played in the snow. Ezra Starshadow worked with Tempest, his Browl, and Echo, his Zip-Zap, to string lights across balconies and between the lampposts.

“Great work, you two! We should be done quickly this year…” He trailed off, feeling off about the snowfall. “This is more than they said the snow factory would make… Tempest, Echo, we need to get to Skywatch!” Tempest and Echo dropped their work, and the group began making their way out of town.

As they reached the outskirts of town, the wind began to pick up as the clouds turned dark and shadowy. The light snowfall was whipping into a blizzard that enveloped the town. “Change of plans. We need to help everyone.”

Ezra ran back to the town square to help the townsfolk. As people ran to their homes, a cackle echoed throughout the town as a dark figure descended from the storm. “Hello, people of Lamplight Town! I am the Puppet Master, leader of the Order of Influence. With this blizzard, I have trapped you here. Now, no one will stop me from controlling every monster in the world!”

Ezra glared at the floating figure with a fierce determination. He knew he had to stop this. He searched for his friends, Allison and Destiny. “Destiny, help get the townsfolk to safety. Allison, use your Ice magic to hold back the blizzard. I’m going to deal with the Puppet Master.”

The pair nodded and went off as Ezra pursued the Puppet Master, hoping to stop him from controlling the monsters of the island. He summoned his staff and called down lightning from the storm, hoping to knock the Puppet Master out the sky as Echo flew up to distract him. However, the Puppet Master was quick to redirect the attack, hitting Ezra and knocking him unconscious.

As Ezra fell forward, Echo continued his assault, zapping the Puppet Master whenever possible. Tempest continued from the ground, shooting at the sky to hit the Puppet Master. As the fight continued, Tempest was filled with a will to do more. She leaped into the air and summoned a bolt of lightning at the Puppet Master as she glowed with determination. At the same time, Echo unleashed a powerful attack, glowing with the same determination.

In a flash of bright light, the Puppet Master fell from the sky. Ezra awoke to see his blindingly bright friends staring the Puppet Master down. Soon, an Acromi and a Vamplifier stood in their places. Ezra marched between them and pointed his staff at the Puppet Master. “Leave this town and never return.”

The villain then disappeared as Ezra hugged his friends, proud of them for defeating the Puppet Master on their own. They returned to the square to finish the preparations for the best Winterfest the people of Lamplight Town would see for years to come.

The Lost Crystal of Lumaria

By: DaEpicWubboxGamer

In the heart of the vast world of Prodigy, nestled between the shimmering lakes of the Whispering Woods and the towering peaks of the Celestial Mountains, lay the legendary Dark Tower. It was shrouded in mystery and fear, a place where many adventurers dared not tread. Today, however, I felt an insatiable pull toward its shadowy entrance, as if the tower itself was calling my name.

As I approached, the sun dipped below the horizon, casting eerie silhouettes that danced around me. The air was thick with anticipation, and each step echoed like a heartbeat. I had heard tales of brave wizards who had ventured inside, seeking the fabled Lost Crystal of Lumaria, said to hold the power to illuminate the darkest corners of the realm. Many entered, but few returned.

With a deep breath, I pushed open the heavy, creaking door. The interior was dim, illuminated only by the faint glow of enchanted torches flickering on the stone walls. Dust motes floated lazily in the air, and the scent of ancient magic lingered. I could feel my heart race with excitement and fear as I ventured deeper into the tower.

Suddenly, a soft rustling sound caught my attention. I turned to see a small, shimmering creature darting across the floor—a Lumaria sprite! Its wings sparkled like diamonds, and it seemed to beckon me to follow. Without a second thought, I chased after it, weaving through the winding corridors of the tower.

The sprite led me to a grand chamber, its walls adorned with glowing runes and a massive crystal pedestal at its center. Upon the pedestal sat the Lost Crystal of Lumaria, pulsating with a radiant light that filled the room. I gasped in awe, the stories I had heard now tangible before my eyes.

Before I could reach for the crystal, a low growl resonated through the chamber. Emerging from the shadows was a fearsome creature—a Shadow Beast, its eyes glowing like embers. I froze, realizing that it was guarding the crystal. The stories had warned of this guardian, but I had hoped to find a way around it.

With no time to waste, I summoned my magic and prepared for battle. The air crackled with energy as I unleashed a barrage of spells, each one met with the beast’s ferocious counterattacks. We danced through the chamber, my heart pounding as I dodged its claws and countered with spells of light.

Finally, I saw my opportunity. As the Shadow Beast lunged, I conjured a brilliant flash of light, temporarily blinding it. With a quick dash, I reached the pedestal and grasped the Lost Crystal of Lumaria. A surge of energy coursed through me, illuminating the chamber in a warm glow.

With the crystal in hand, the Shadow Beast halted, its eyes softening. I realized then that it wasn’t merely a guardian; it was a protector, bound to the crystal’s magic. I spoke softly, promising to use the crystal’s power for good, and in that moment, the beast nodded, acknowledging my intent.

As I left the tower, the crystal glowing brightly in my possession, I felt a sense of purpose wash over me. The Dark Tower had revealed its secrets, and I was now its new guardian. The world of Prodigy was filled with wonders, and my adventure was just beginning.

A Normal Day

By AlyssSolo / Delta

Vibrant greens gently sway under sunlight, coating the fields with lush, varying shades. Particles of dust catch the light, appearing to be flecks of gold as they drift and dance, the setting sun bathing everything it touches with warmer shades and tints.

Nearby, small Cloverats scuffled, digging in the soil to gently transplant clovers into their pelts, providing them with the camouflage they were named for. They were unfortunately dispersed by a sounder of Spindles charging in, promptly increasing the size of the holes to munch on wild onions.

Watching the various monsters, feet kicking through the air as they proper their cheeks on their hands, was a young wizard with bright amber eyes, seafoam hair tied into a sloppy ponytail. Lying flat on their stomach, a nearby Wott waddled up to a Sproot, wings raised awkwardly.

Wotts’ forepaws were so short that they were barely visible against the fur, growing to a reasonable length when they ‘evolved’ to their next growth stage, the Zipzap. In the meantime, they just had to be clever, hopping around clumsily and flaring their wings. On occasion, a monster would fail to enter its next growth stage, but that was rare nowadays with the Magi Treatment, it was just…expensive, but it remained an option.

However, they doubted their dear little Wott would struggle to evolve, and smiled at the rodent squeaking in surprise when the wild Sproot sneezed. The magical bat came barreling toward them, and they giggled as they sat up, holding out their arm for the creature to perch, Brilliant reds and yellows contrasting their coffee-coloured skin. It was careful to land on their shirt sleeve so as to not scratch them, making itself comfortable on the lavender fabric of their Member Robes.

It was about time for them to get home anyway.

They picked up their Mystic Staff, and using it as a hiking stick, started marching back to Lamplight. Wott shuffled onto their shoulder and then clambered on their head, nesting in the blue hair and making the ponytail significantly messier.

As they moved, they noticed small Dreamlets fluttering around, one landing on their hand. They paused, straining to hear the distant song of a Meloduet flying with the flock—even Wott raised a wing to its ear, amplifying its already exceptional hearing.

The creature sang, that a long time ago, another insectoid pet flew with them, the dragonfly-like Creelas that zipped around the field. Yet with them becoming a chosen pet of Wizard Students, they slowly dwindled, with the only remaining being the escaped pets of the Academy Archives.

After the flock of Lepidopterans fluttered away, they continued their way back home, humming along to the luring music of TripTrops. Historically, they would use flutes, but over time they developed a siren-like voice, singing out to the passerby. Now, those flutes are held behind cases in Dyno Dig Oasis.

The sun had set by the time they arrived home, stars beginning to twinkle.

Tomorrow, they would battle the Puppet Master.

The Morph Marble of Chaos

By: GoldTreeXD

It was another normal, sunny, and cloudless day in Lamplight Town, and I wandered around, interviewing passersby about their favourite pets in Prodigy. As I spun the Wheel Of Wonder, hoping that I wouldn’t get an Old Sock, my mind drifted off, mesmerized and attracted to the glowing, shiny, luscious Morph Marble, sitting in the depths of my backpack, begging to be used. When I snapped out of my daydream, Wheeler gave me my worst nightmare, an Old Sock, as a reward. However, I didn’t have time to scream about it to Noot, because I wanted to accept some bounties from the Bounty Board. As I accepted all the bounties I could, my mind drifted off, again, to the Morph Marble, Mystile, probably because my first bounty was in Firefly Forest. My left brain, who wanted me to use the Morph Marble after finishing all my bounties, was in a heated debate against my right brain, who wanted me to use the Morph Marble now. Finally, after 10 long minutes, I made up my mind; I would use the Morph Marble now. As I transformed into one of my dream pets, a Mystile, I made sure there was a vivid, purple, glossy, button that allowed me to end the Morph Marble when I wanted to. After 10 minutes of hunting bounties, getting lost, and attempting to memorize the locations of every bounty, I went back to Lamplight Town, satisfied, and ready to receive the Bounty Points from Boardy. But, when my Morph Marble was supposed to end, it didn’t end! I pressed the button that would end the Morph Marble, but it didn’t work. I pressed the button again, this time harder, and for a longer time. It didn’t work. Nervous and scared, I started to furiously press the button to try to end my Morph Marble, which started to cause a huge commotion in the square, partially because wizards and passerby in the Town Square were used to seeing wizards transform into random things and pets, but they weren’t prepared to see a Mystile spamming the End Morph Marble button angrily. I opened the map, frustrated and filled with nervous butterflies, and went to the Titan grounds. Thankfully, it was absolutely deserted. I told Noot, “ Do you, by any chance, know what to do when a Morph Marble won’t end?” He sadly replied, “I’m afraid I don’t know anything about what to do in this case.” I thought for a moment, while staring at the Forest Titan. Maybe I could ask Gale, or Flora, or somebody… “That’s it!” I exclaimed, an idea sprouting in my mind; “I could ask Flora!” I raced to Firefly Forest, the thought of finally turning back to a wizard fueling me. When I arrived, I knocked on Flora’s pink treehouse. Flora’s soft, kind voice answered from inside; “Who’s there?” I answered; “ Flora, I have a problem that your magic can probably fix.” A few spells later, I was back to wizard form!

Operation: Winterfest for Mira

By: PrincessEspell

Emery Stormchaser, a skilled wizard, was gathered with Noot, Gale, Florian and the six elemental guardians at the Big Tree, centre of Firefly Forest. Everyone else had frustrated and confused looks on their faces, so Emery decided to speak first.

“So…how did it go?”

“Horrible!” yelled Benni, unable to contain herself. “That Mira Shade is impossible to impress! I showed her all my tools, and even offered to teach her about mechanics, but she refused!” Her face flushed deeper as she crossed her little arms.

“She didn't even like my vegetable garden,” added Broccolina, shyly hiding behind her green hair.

“Gale? Noot? What about you guys?” Emery tried, shooting them a hopeful glance.

“No luck,” Gale muttered. “Noot and I showed Mira the insides and outs of the Archives, but she wasn’t the slightest bit interested.” Noot shook his head. “She didn’t even want to come, now that I think about it.”

Emery turns her attention to the fairy siblings, Florian and Flora. “She kept testing our mushrooms for shadow magic.” said Flora, fidgeting with the hem of her dress. Florian muttered something like “Typical Mira” and earned a soft shove from Flora.

“You three?” Emery turned to Eve, Bok, and Slurpy.

Slurpy sniffed and looked down. “Mira said that cooking for the queen was boring.” He sniffed again with tears in his eyes. “Cooking isn't boring! And she didn’t have to be so mean about it!”

“I’m sorry Slurpy,” Emery said, patting his back (he was a slime, so it was pretty hard to tell where his back was). “What about you, Eve?”

“No use, kid,” Eve sighed. “Mira Shade is just one tough cookie. I tried showing her around the shipwreck, but the poor girl didn’t even crack a smile.”

Bok grunted in agreement. “Bok no make Mira laugh, either. Not even after snowball fight.” “We all know that Mira Shade can be grumpy sometimes,” Emery said. “But she has to like something. Winterfest is all about happiness and presents.”

“And food,” added Slurpy.

Emery started to think about the previous ideas, and drew a conclusion about them: all this time, they were trying to get Mira to do what they want, not what she wants.

“Well, what do we know about Mira?” Emery asks.

“She likes purple and dark colors,” stated Florian. “She likes rocks,” said Gale. “And she doesn’t like tools.” fumed Benni.

“Well,” said Emery. “All we have to do is make Winterfest feel like home - for Mira!”

Everyone got to work, replacing the red and green decorations with black and purple ones, covering clumps of snow with dark rocks, and placing patterned banners all around town square.

“I don’t know,” muttered Noot. “It kind of looks like Pumpkinfest.”

“Don’t worry,” says Emery. “I know she’ll love it.”

A few hours later, everyone - pets and wizards alike - gathered around town square, including Mira Shade.

“It’s…ok,” Mira muttered.

“OK?” Everyone chimed.

But Emery could see a small smile on Mira’s face. The plan had worked!

Shadows of Shiverchill

By: Cassie Moonshadow

Nicole was alone. She had been caught in a snowstorm at the summit of Shiverchill, disoriented by its ruthless, howling wind and the ferociously sharp ice crystals. Nicole had woken up in a completely different place than she had been in before. She had no idea what had happened.

As Nicole sat there, confined within the towering walls of ice, her fear slowly gripped her throat. No one would help her. No one would find her. No one would remember her.

The mournful howl of a Frostfang penetrated Nicole’s body as she shakily got up. The cold air pierced her skin. She felt eyes on her. Nicole shivered.

As Nicole walked further, she reached a menacing cave. Inside it, the ominous glow of shadowy, purple crystals beckoned Nicole into its foreboding darkness. She couldn’t resist.

Stepping into the cave, a sharp tremble suddenly lashed Nicole’s body. It felt like she couldn’t move, her ragged breaths desperately struggling to get any air.

Nicole was sure there was definitely something wrong in the cave.

A deafening roar shattered the silence. Nicole screamed. Out of the dark, the Crystal Golem leaped at her. Its huge body was made out of sharp, invulnerable crystals, which glowed a sinister lilac. Ravenous, slitted eyes glowed an angry red on its head. Jagged diamond teeth glittered from its mouth.

The golem focused its intense stare at Nicole.

Thick purple fog abruptly engulfed her. The fog instantly entered her mouth, and that’s when Nicole knew she couldn’t scream.

Her heart was pounding. This was how she was going to die.

A vague dot of light suddenly glimmered through the fog, before quickly disappearing. Nicole squinted. Was she having a vision right before her death? It appeared again, staying for a second longer before vanishing.

Suddenly, an extremely strong gust of wind knocked Nicole off her feet. She felt a familiar presence. It was Constance, Nicole’s Reglaxy coming to her rescue! Constance burst out of the fog, swiftly flying around Nicole for a few times, before hovering at the top of the cave. Beating its powerful wings, it blew another fierce gust of wind that cleared the fog.

Constance spread its majestic wings. The intricate shapes and patterns on them glowed, forming intricate constellations. Sparks were flying off Constance. The star at the end of its head fin began to spin rapidly. Constance was powerful.

The star on Constance’s fin began spinning more rapidly, and its constellations were becoming brighter, lighting up the whole cave. The brilliant glow surrounded Nicole, until she was blinded. A great spell took hold of Nicole. She heard Constance attacking the Crystal Golem. The sound of smashing crystals pounded her ears.

Nicole felt the spell transport her out of the cave. Constance had saved her.

Quick Little Mission

By: Quadewet

There I was, standing right in front of the dark tower. Its presence filled the world around me with gloom, birds stopped chirping and deers stopped grazing. I entered the tower to be instantly attacked by two pets, I easily eradicated them using a singular Twilight. I start walking towards the steps to move on to the next floor as I am greeted by a stranger. “Wow, you were actually able to get past the first floor. Good luck with the next ninety nine, HAHAHAH.” Before I could utter a word the stranger disappeared as fast as they came. “So this tower is bigger than it looked from the outside, ninety-nine floors eh. That will be too easy, couldn’t even give more of a challenge.” Quickly I rushed up the stairs and defeated the next set of pets.

All simple until my first major problem. I just finished floor 49 and walked into floor fifty to see 3 different wizards standing there. “Are all three of you climbing the tower as well?” “Yeah”, they all say in unison. Hearing their response I quickly shoot out a dark wave at one of the wizards. “Derieck NO.” Shouts out one of the wizards in the group. “Sorry, it’s all business, I can’t have any competition now can I?. I have to scout out this tower for the order. Oh I’ve said too much haven’t I?” “Wait, we won’t tell anyone, please just let us go.” “Let me think about it, NO. I can’t have any snitches now can I? Now make this easy and give up, I’m a highly trained order of influence captain, you won’t be winning.” “Sophia, we have to beat him, or none of us are getting out.” “Okay Joshua, let's do this, for Derieck.” The wizards didn’t stand a chance. I easily got rid of them and moved to the steps. The same stranger from earlier came towards me. “Cold-blooded I see, really just knocked out those wizards like that. We’ll see how much farther you can get.” I once again tried to say something but the mysterious figure disappeared again. “What a weird person, whatever.”

I keep on climbing, eventually making it to floor seventy-five. I see a titan, it thankfully doesn’t bother me as I am part of the order of Influence and move on. Finally I make it to floor one-hundred to see the same stranger. “I AM DONE WITH THIS, YOU ARE NOT ESCAPING AGAIN.” I quickly summon shadow torrents everywhere around us and drop them. “YOU CAN’T AVOID THIS”. From this attack the fight ensues, I don’t even know how long it went on for. After lots of fighting I end up on the ground. “H-h-how did you win, all my training to lose to you? THIS CAN’T BE.” “Winston, you were set up for failure from the start, you could never win.” “How do you kn-” Before I could even finish my vision went to black.

The Gift of Frost

By: Mr. Inquiry

“Why are we doing this again?” Noot’s whine drowned out by the wind’s.

“What?” I shout, turning backward.

“Why are we doing this again?” Noot shrieks in my ear.

“We already discussed this, Noot!”

“I know, I know. But c’mon. You didn’t really think it would be THIS cold, did you?”

Wind squeals, releasing torrents of flakes and ice. Every part of exposed skin pelted into numbness, we trudge on.

“We’re doing the right thing, Noot. Just hold on tight back there!”

“I’m not letting go –I’d get blown straight to Dragon Isle if I did!”

Noot, Noot, Noot I mumble to myself as I press on. An icy chill shudders down my spine. Surely Frost Beard’s Clasp has seen worse than this? Worn by the mighty Frost Beard himself. I hope the magic holds.

Whirling, darting white emerges from the dark, whips past, disappears. It’s a blur. Straining my eyes to see I push on. A misstep would be a plunge down thousands of feet. Don’t look down.

“You okay, Noot?”

“I’m okaa-yay-ay!”

Noot’s shivering. We should be there soon.

Snow beating so hard the light surrounds me before I realize. We’re here! The cavern entrance!

“Quick, Noot! Inside!”

We rush in past the roaring torches, Noot dragging behind me. Collapse down. Ugh.

“I feel like I’m completely frozen!”

“Are you regretting coming, Noot?”

“No, it’s okay. You’re right. This quest is important.”

Rummaging in my pack, “Here Noot. Put this on, it’ll warm you up.”

I pull out the Candle Knight Helm and place it on Noot’s head. Despite being diminutive, the helm fits.

“It’s a good thing you’re so big-headed, Noot.”

“Hey! Watch your insinuations, Buster!”

“Haha!”

We rise, then push on through rarely traveled tunnels we’ve frequented many times. An old friend protecting us from the blizzard outside.

“It’s not much longer now! I’m so excited!”

“Me too, Noot.”

Turning around the bend, there he is. Deep in conversation with Holly, we creep up to him. Unable to contain himself…

“ASPEN!!!” Noot explodes, sending everyone up in the air, Holly an explosion of feathers.

“Little buddies! What are you doing here?!? That blizzard outside is a rager! No way you should be here!”

Aspen picks us both up, swinging us around. There is a specific kind of sweetness to a yeti hug, the excruciating pain fading into the endearing love and joy yetis exude.

“We were worried, Aspen.”

“Worried about what? All’s cool with this fool!”

“Well, it’s Winterfest.” Noot whimpers. “We didn’t want you to spend it alone.”

“Knowing I have friends like you two, Little buddies, I’m never alone!”

“There’s one more thing we have for you, Aspen,” I say rummaging through my pack. “Here you go.”

“Poutine! Oh, you two are the best! How about I whip up a batch of my world-famous snow cones!”

Noot shakes his head violently.

“I’ll pass! After that adventure I AM a snow cone!”

Finding Gemmo

By: Hrvman

It was six in the morning during a snowstorm not the ideal time to be out and about, but Gemmo my pet Snup (specifically a Sparkle Snup) had vanished that night, so there I was on Shivertusk back during the storm of the century at 6 am looking for him with my sister and her friend, thankfully my Magmischief and Embershed had helped with the search to keep us warm and thaw out any ice or snow that blocked us, my sister's friend's Flameger also helped, "why are we doing this again" she said, "Because my brother's pet went missing" my sister replied. It had been hours since me and my other friends split to form multiple search parties. "Listen I'm tired too, but we need to find Gemmo he's my friend" I was beginning to lose hope after It was 30 minutes later and still haven't found Gemmo. Then a massive snow mound blocked our path Embershed melted the snow and underneath the snow was... "Brick!?" I yelled. As Embershed melted the mound more it revealed my house and at that point I was devastated, and tired, I lost all hope at that point but as I walked in, to my surprise Gemmo stood right there in my house with all my other pets. The house was decorated for winterfest by my pets while I was gone. It seems that Gemmo had planned a winterfest party while I was gone, I was thankful he was okay and I was glad that I still had time to celebrate winterfest, I invited my friends and family and neighbors over, and everyone in the search party was relieved that everything was okay.

Merry winterfest to all and a happy new year.

The Ice King and the Witch

By: Snapdragonforlife385

Once upon a time, there was an ice kingdom in Shiverchill Mountains. The kingdom was beautiful with sparkling structures of ice and a great castle made of pure crystals. An ice king ruled it with an iron fist. He wielded his Staff of Winter and proudly wore his Frozen Crown. He would never go anywhere without his staff. He was a proud but deeply troubled king. He was strange, behaving as his actions weren’t his own and in his unhappiness, his subjects were also unhappy. They tried to keep their king happy but he could never be satisfied. The ice king would turn them into frozen statues with his Staff of Winter. Everyone lived in constant fear under his rule.

Until one day.

A witch, nervous but determined, made her way to the Ice castle doors. There was a competition for wizards and witches. If a wizard or witch impressed the ice king, he or she would become his royal advisor. The massive doors slowly opened. As she stepped inside, there was no turning back now.

She was ushered to a large, silver arena by the ice king’s servants where she stood among other wizards and witches. It seems like the entire kingdom gathered in the arena to watch. The king sat proudly on his balcony, overlooking the courtyard. It was hard to read his expression from down below. The ice king explained the rules; The wizards/witches have to display their knowledge and power of all elements in a battle. The losers would be turned into frozen statues. The last one standing would be named champion. When the trumpet rang, all chaos broke loose. Everything was a blur. She remembered bits and pieces of blasting astral spells and fire spells against anyone who got in her way. One by one, wizards and witches dropped like flies. Soon she was the only one. Cheers echoed across the arena but they didn’t sound so rewarding. She looked at all the wizards and witches lying on the ground. She saw in their faces, desperate pleas for help before the ice king flew down and turned them all into statues. He regarded her with a cold smile. This was the moment she longed for but she hesitated.

She has been training nonstop since the day he took her family. If she faltered now, she would join her family, the other wizards and witches, and the hundreds of other unfortunate statues. No, she can’t, not after everything. She had never been so close to the ice king in person. She saw his face was contorted in pain as he spoke with a calm tone. She lowered her gaze to his staff which was gleaming with a strange light. It was a faint purple color. The color of evil. Shadow magic. There was a cry as the staff was struck from his hand and fell onto the ground, shattering into pieces. Shocked cries rang out from the crowd. Her eyes opened wide as she realized it was her voice who cried out at the sight of what she’d done. For three heartbeats, the ice king said nothing. She stared as he dropped to his knees and laughed. He looked up at her for the first time in what seemed like forever, “Thank you,” he said breathlessly. “I got the staff of the Order of Influence, hoping to gain a massive amount of power. But, I was so young and foolish. For years, I was enslaved by the spirit in that staff, forcing me to do its bidding. I had no control over my body but you saved me.” She felt her trembling body ease with every word he said. She smiled for the first time in years. “Can you…free my family?” She asked quietly. He reached for his crown and held it in his hands. “I promise, I will fix all of this,” he assured her, “I vow to never be so selfish and serve my kingdom for the greater good. Starting with you.”

The king, with his remaining magic, unfroze her family, all the wizards, witches, and citizens from previous years. As time went on, he repaid everyone who he had caused harm. The witch lived in a special place in the king’s castle with her parents and brothers where she found peace and happiness. The dark fog of fear that surrounded the kingdom vanished and the nice king went on to be known as a kind and generous king for history to come.

A Cross Between Worlds

By: ProdigyPup

Daytime was upon the world of Prodigy as Jack heard a loud knock on his door. “Who is it?” he said, stumbling to the door. His friend, Angel, stood outside waiting for him. Why, it’s me, Angel! You’re late for the Academy again,” she said. “Oh great,” he said, quickly packing his bags. He began running to the Academy leaving his friend behind,”Wait up!” “We’re here!” Jack exclaimed as he and Angel entered the Academy. “Zara!” Jack and Angel yelled, waving him over. “You know you’re both late, right?” Zara said. “Right,” Jack said. The friends walked into the archives and collected some golden pages. “River Neek, I challenge thee to a battle!” Jack exclaimed. The River Neek went first, using bubble burst and missing. “Jack, use your katana!” Zara yelled. “Just what I was thinking,” Jack said as he pulled it out. A tentacle came from a mysterious purple fog and snatched his arm. His friends were quick to pull him away from the fog but he slipped away. Jack fell into a portal and went unconscious as he fell further down.

“Oof!” Jack’s head was spinning and his vision was blurry. It seemed he’d landed in the fog but he realized he couldn’t breathe. “Help! I can’t breathe!” he shouted, using the last of his breath. A girl came out of the shadows and dragged him out of the fog.

“Hi, who are you and where did you come from?” asked the girl.

“I’m Jack and I’m from Prodigy. Where am I and who are you?”

“I’m Anis, you’re in the dream realm! Need any help?”

“I don’t belong here,” he said.

Anis helped him up onto a hammock and Jack dozed off. “AHHH! What are you?” Jack asked a floating creature just as he had woken up. It said,”I’m Wishie! The wish granter of the-” Anis cut him off, ”Are you okay?”

“No, I need to get back to Prodigy!” Jack exclaimed.

“Don’t worry, we’ll help you get back.”

Jack didn’t trust either of them but he’d have to if he wanted to get home. He’d lost everything he’d ever known but he still had a spark of hope. Night fell upon the world and Jack watched the stars glimmering in the sky. “This reminds me of the Starlight Festivals back at home,” he thought. He heard pages flipping behind him and a tired regalaxy flew in front of him. “Regalaxy? How did you get here?” he asked. Regalaxy held Jack’s pet book in its mouth. “Great job Asterella! Maybe, my bag is around here somewhere,” Jack said.

Winter Without Snow

Scarlet Fireprism is not excited for Christmas this year. For one thing, it is cold. She hates Christmas.

Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends, but she has none. The last time she tried to meet up with a friend was on Halloween, which ended up with her friend being vanished by the puppet master.

So this year, she will try to save her friend. She started this mission when Winterfest began, and nothing terrible has happened. She wants to return after Winterfest so she does not have to experience the cold.

She thinks her friend might be trapped somewhere on Dragon Isle, so that is where she's headed.

One day of her mission, she wakes up. Where was she again? Oh, right. She is along the path between the Academy and Bonfire Spire. Halfway there. She just needed to eat and look at the map again, and then she could continue travelling.

Except for one thing. Her backpack is suddenly gone. Without a map, she doesn't know where she is going. She’ll have to find her backpack first.

“Hmmm,” Scarlet said. “It should be around here.”

So Scarlet searched. She searched the area, but she couldn’t find anything. “Ugh,” Scarlet said. “Do you know where it is?” She asked Luna who her pet was. She shook her head. “How about you?” She asked her buddy, who is a Husky. He sniffed on the spot where the backpack was just last seen, then he started walking. Scarlet hurried after him.

Soon they arrived near some bushes. Suddenly the dog stopped. “Oh,” Scarlet said. “So this is where my backpack is?” Scarlet went behind the bushes. But her backpack was not there. Now what?

Her Husky put his paw over her hand like he was telling her it was going to be alright.

“I know. If only I had a map.” Scarlet said. “We need to know where we’re going.” Surely her Husky can’t lead the way, because they wouldn't know where they would be going, and they could be going to the middle of nowhere.

Suddenly Scarlet had an idea. “Wait. Let’s make a trap.” She said, She flicked her eyes to Luna. “I’ll use you as bait.”

Scarlet hid behind a bush, with Husky following along. “You stay where you are, Luna. Surely anyone would want a mythical epic, so the person who stole my backpack last night must also want to steal you. But we won’t let the person capture you.”

She waited. And waited.

Until a shadow came from the sky, swooping down. Scarlet gasped. It is the Puppet Master! Isn’t he supposed to be in Dragon Isle?? Right at the moment, Scarlet jumped from her hiding place.

“Stop this right now!” She said as she cast Starbit. But it was too late.

The Puppet Master was gone, and he had taken Luna with him.

The Battle of the Academy!

By: Goldenstar1714

King Swiftshade was woken up at 3:00 AM by his friend Solar.

“Who what when where why?” he asked after a few seconds, still dazed by that dream he’d had of a giant colorful sunflower thing chasing him in a room full of pictures of giant colorful sunflower things and then-

“Today’s the day! The Puppet Master! It turns out we needed a wizard, so I nominated you! Isn’t that AWESOME!?” Solar replied enthusiastically.

“I mean I guess… but why NOW? I was SLEEPING!”

Solar looked slightly annoyed, which was understandable.

Swiftshade continued, “And I’m STILL annoyed about how Disney BOUGHT their way into trying to get their movie on top of the far superior hedgeho-

“WE LITERALLY DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS! I mean, you’re not wrong, but WE HAVE NO TIME AT ALL FOR THAT RANT! NONE AT ALL!”

The wizard sighed, and said, “Okay, okay. So where is the great ambush planned?”

Solar calmed down a bit and answered, “At the ACADEMY, he wants to train a new generation of shadow wizards!”

A few minutes later, Solar and King were flying on their giant Leviathan, which might have been a risk, but Leviathans were the trendiest way of transport, so there was clearly no other option.

Once they got to the Academy, all the other epics were already stationed in the shadows, with some help by Eclipse’s shadow magic.

“Wait, so now what?” King whispered.

“We wait,” was the reply.

At approximately 7:06 AM(6:66, if you’re willing to count past the hour), the Puppet Master forcefully opened the Academy gates and admired his new castle.

Then the Epics slowly came out of the shadows, surrounding him.

“What a lovely surprise!” said the Puppet Master cheerfully. “All of my enemies IN ONE PLACE, well, except for this sleepy looking wizard, but let’s be real, who cares about him?”

“M-my family?” asked the sleepy looking wizard.

“Luke… I am your FATHER! Just kidding! Anyway, it’s AMAZING how convenient all of you are here, because trust me, you’re all locked in here with me! And I also created this AWESOME new magic thing that makes anyone who LOOKS at my eyes turn into stone! I’m so original!

King rolled his eyes while Solar said, “So here’s the plan: All the other Epics fight him while we astrallize this crystal staff so it will blast him back to the Epicsforsaken place he came from!

That sounded like a good plan to the wizard, so he and Solar worked on the staff while the Epics wove around the Puppet Master, quickly firing bolts of elemental magic while dodging powerful Shadow magic. But then Vegabloom froze and slowly turned into stone. Diveodile was caught by a giant shadow hand, turned towards the Puppet Master, and turned into stone as well. One by one, all of the Epics turned into stone. Finally, the villian turned to face the wizard and Solar with the completed staff.

“I have something to tell you,” Solar said happily. WE”RE not locked in here with YOU. YOU’RE locked in here with US!”

At these words, King lifted the staff and vaporized the Puppet Master with one gigantic blast of golden energy. He wasn’t gone for good, but he would still be gone for a long long time.

“So…,” Solar asked, looking around at the petrified Epics mournfully, “Do you want to…uhh…oh, I know! Let’s watch that AWESOME hedgehog movie again!

The wizard shrugged.

“We’ll have to take care of this mess eventually, but as a proud procrastinator… SURE THING!”

Holiday Hassle

As far as the world of Prodigy was aware, they were nothing more than a myth. Still, some thought of them as a secret hero. Others, a vigilante. Some even theorized that they were a monster, while others believed they were actually multiple people.

Tonight, though, they were all wrong. With a light blue and white striped scarf and hat joining the greens of their Ninja Hood and Titan Hunter Robes, they were just Winterfest’s little helper. Hey, who said just because you’re a ninja doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun with your job here and there?

That being said, they still had a job to do. With the recent emergence of the Dragon Isle, many wizards and residents of Lamplight Town had been a tad bit too distracted to remember that monsters affected by the Puppet Master’s magic tended to engage in mischief and tomfoolery in Lamplight Town every Winterfest. Well, no time to dwell on that now, for the wizard had a Frostjaw and several stolen Evergreen Garlands to track down.

Leaping off a roof and quietly landing on the patch of grass next to Lamplight Town’s eternally locked library, the ninja vigilantly scanned the History District from behind the white fence and wooden crates. Given the earlier five minute chase that had ended with the two here, the wizard was left wondering how a Frostjaw, of all monsters, could move with such swift—oh wait, there it is. The typical suspicious, questionably constructed snowman. Raising an eyebrow from behind their mask, the unamused wizard walked out from behind the crates and leapt over the fence. These monsters really need to start choosing new disguises.

The masked wizard walked up to the suspicious snowman as gray particles of Storm magic circled their hands. With a gust of Storm magic wind, the ninja nonchalantly blew its head off in a large plume of frosty, white powder. The formerly-hidden Frostjaw blinked in surprise and sheepishly met the unamused and disappointed look in the ninja's eyes. Then, the Frostjaw dropped on all fours with a loud thud, bursting out of the remnants of the snowman before very quickly and somehow silently scuttling away.

Sighing, the ninja turned away from the escaping Frostjaw and knelt down in the middle of the trampled snow pile. Poking out from several spots of the pile were several clusters of thin, green, pine leaves. As it would seem, the Frostjaw had left behind all of its stolen decorations in a panic. The wizard fished the Everland Garlands out of the snow pile and brushed the snow off of them.

Slinging the Everland Garlands over their shoulders, the ninja turned around and walked back further into Lamplight Town, ready to put the decorations back where they belonged.

Well, until they noticed a very familiar Frostjaw making off with several strings of Winterfest Lights along with an entire Festival Tree balanced on its back.

Suffice to say, Lamplight Town’s local myth was not amused in the slightest.
