The Q&A Machine is a fanon interactive feature for Prodigy.
Overview[]
Within the Creature Wellness Shop of the Nesting Grounds, players will encounter their first and only Q&A Machine. It permits players to ask questions, receive answers, and convert resources into food items (in the case of the Lumin Lemon, Lumin Lemonade, and Lumin Leaf Tea). Most of the questions are commonly asked by players that are just starting out, having arrived after unlocking the location at Level 30. Because the Nesting Grounds is unlike any other part of Prodigy Math Game, having a readily-available in-game FAQ is a wise choice.
Interface Choices[]
Upon clicking the Q&A Machine, the player views the machine's questions interface, which is a large "touchscreen" not so different from those of modern arcade games. There are four boxes available: a red button in the top right-hand corner to QUIT, a blue button in the top left-hand corner to ASK QUESTIONS, an orange button in the bottom left-hand corner to MAKE FOOD, and a green button on the bottom right-hand corner to TRADE. If the player quits, the session with the Q&A Machine is over, making it forget answering previous questions and prevent it from being audibly irritated.
Questions on the Wellness Center, Eggs, and Breeding[]
- What can I do in the Creature Wellness Center?: "Here, you are able to go outside to look at the Fields (which have a separate set of questions), check up on your buddies and pets in their habitats, breed the buddies and pets to produce eggs, and raise the eggs and hatchlings to make new buddies and pets. You can also purchase necessities from the Creature Wellness Shop in this building."
- What do I do in the Room of Cages?: "You can visit your mature pets and buddies, in their cages, in the room with the door to the far left of the Creature Wellness Center. Players can have up to 1,000 buddies. Your eggs and hatchlings will not be found in the cages. You can take them out and place them in habitats, which are visible in the Enclosure of Habitats."
- What do I do in the Enclosure of Habitats?: "This room has a door connected to the Creature Wellness Center. You can visit mature pets and buddies, hatchlings, and eggs in habitats that you placed them in. You may remove mature pets and buddies from their habitats and put them back in their cages if there is limited space. Habitats and habitat slots are purchasable in the Creature Wellness Shop. They can be expensive, so you probably may never need the scrolling feature where pressing the white triangular directional buttons allows you to switch between parts of the room populated by habitats."
Questions on the Fields and Adoption[]
- What are the Fields for?: "The Fields contain a variety of pets that have been freed from mind control by being defeated by wizards or were let go from a wizard's team. Although their original wizards are not traceable, some come in high levels and are very hard to adopt. To make them have loyalty to you and enter your team, play with them and figure out what they like to do. Pets that have been released by wizards multiple times are a lot less trusting, however, and take longer to warm up to you. If you play with them at least once a day for a week, you are almost certain to win their heart."
- Can other players adopt a pet that I have played with?: "Once you have played with a pet, no other players can play with it. They will not leave unless you shoo them away."
- How much can I adopt?: "You can adopt a maximum of three pets per day. If you wish to track pets afterwards, you can play with them and tag them. They will return every day until you adopt them or play with them again and take off their tag. You have ten tags available. Since they are hard to make, this is the maximum amount of tags you can use at once. They never break, so you do not have to worry about having less tags."
- Can I reset which pets are found in the Fields?: "Yes, but up to five times per day excluding the times when you adopt a pet and the Fields automatically resets with new pets. Those that are tagged or have been played with will remain unless you shoo them away."
Questions on Trading[]
- What is trading?: "You can exchange your pets, buddies, and equipment with other players at home. You can set up a trade with a friend, a random player, or one of our giveaway people."
- What can I trade?: "Players can trade a maximum of one pet, one buddy, or four equipment for a maximum of one other pet, one other buddy, or four other equipment. Trades can be between different types of tradables: for example, a pet for a buddy."
- How can I trade?: "You can either accept or not accept a trade request, set up a trade with a specific player, add or take out a trade request to the Prodigy Trading System, collect pets, buddies, or equipment traded on the Prodigy Trading System, or perform a one-equipment, one-pet, or one-buddy trade with a random player. Reducing the amount of items a player can trade equipment increases the player incentive to use the Prodigy Trading System, which we believe is best for collectors."
Miscellaneous Questions[]
- What are the foods that can be obtained here?: "If you exit the Wellness Center and travel to the Sunlit Zone, you will be able to see a tall Lumin tree. This one is hundreds of years old and produces lemons. Harvesting four fruits, then harvesting a Bottle of Sunlight from the well, and then returning them to me will allow me to create a lemonade for you if you answer a math question. You can return the lemonade to this device and allow it to remain for one and a half days, the lemonade will turn into a tea."
- (if minorly patronized (10 questions+) without repeat questions over one session): "Now this is a lot of questions. (proceeds to answer the next question)."
- (if majorly patronized (10+ questions+) at least two repeated questions over one session): "That's enough from you. This device thinks that you should explore the Nesting Grounds yourself."
Improving Gameplay[]
It also has available text-to-speech information just like character voices, making it able to relay information about how to use the Nesting Grounds to those that lack vision.
Math Factor[]
To make the Q&A Machine synthesize Lumin Lemonade or Lumin Leaf Tea, the player must answer a math question correctly before leaving the machine to perform the steeping process.
Trivia[]
- While it is partially a beverage machine, the Q&A Machine will (within the FourSevensRueful Version canon, reject alcohols, poisons, and overly-caffienated beverages).
- The Q&A Machine was designed with a personality, wishing to be straight to the point and unwilling to change responses for the same question. If the player patronizes them by asking too many questions, the machine will get annoyed. They do not have any initial greeting towards the player for the same reason.
