This guide intends to highlight methods of obtaining specific loot that players desire to obtain, not just objectively rare or objectively heroic loot rated by Prodigy development. This guide, specifically, will deal with finding loot from Crystal Caverns and Harmony Island.

Glossary[]

  • Interface - The interactive buttons, icons, and objects on-screen at any moment in prodigy.
    • In cutscenes, no interactive buttons, icons, or objects are present besides NEXT options on NPC speech.
    • The overworld interface is present outside of battle and cutscenes, containing normal Wizard UI where the Island Map and social interfaces can be accessed.
    • The battle interface is present in battles only and contains options for casting spells, casting Epic attacks, casting All-Out Attacks and Focus Spells, character speech, switching casters, or consuming items.
  • Open Obstacles - In Crystal Caverns and Harmony Island rune runs, non-player non-NPC objects that can be interacted with in the overworld interface to yield loot or objects. They can be walked through, but when interacted with directly, will not be able to be walked through. Lucky loot cannot be walked to and is not considered an open obstacle in any of the following locations, but they do produce loot.
    • Crystal Caverns contains open obstacles such as snow piles, crates, normal chests, and member chests. Minecarts and unfinished minecart rails require a casting wizard to fix and are not considered open obstacles.
    • Harmony Island rune runs contain open obstacles such as red berry bushes, yellow flytrap flowers, leaf piles, normal chests, and member chests. Runestones do not yield objects and, therefore, are not considered open obstacles.
  • Soft Reset - The procedure Prodigy players use to wipe game memory of battles, interactions with open obstacles, and other game data that is naturally saved after closing the respective interfaces. Soft resets are performed on PCs by restarting the tab that Prodigy plays on with the Restart Button (chromebooks and mobile), Ctrl+R key combination (PCs), or by Mouse 2+Restart selection on the Prodigy tab (PC/Mac).
  • UI - User Interface, in Prodigy's case, any interface.

Soft Resetting[]

To obtain an item or a combination of items from the index using soft-resetting, consider how to obtain the item(s).

  • Items that can only be obtained through lucky loot can only be achieved, unless they are already in the player's possession (in case of equipment), by soft resets. Doing so right after the first lucky loot post-boss battle will not allow the game to save the battle or any objects obtained from lucky loot. Doing do after exiting from battle or spinning a second lucky loot will not work and force the player to restart a run in Crystal Caverns to get to the same boss.
  • Rare items from snow piles, crates, normal chests, and member chests can be more easily obtained by soft-resetting right after interacting with them without pressing the NEXT button below Noot's "You got an item!" voice line. The player may be teleported far back from the location and more crystal monsters might have to be battled, but the furthest teleportation occurs back to the last defeated boss or at the beginning of the caverns if the player has not defeated the Grumpy Yeti.

Soft Resetting[]

Besides gold, many Harmony Island objects are rare and cannot be easily obtained by normal means. Soft resetting in Harmony Island rune runs teleports a player for their current position to the spawning location within the stage they restarted their tab from. In some cases, monsters will respawn if defeated and items are collected from them, but this only occurs within the first three stages of a rune run. Once an open obstacle is interacted with in a stage, however, that open obstacle cannot produce new items once a player uses the NEXT button from item collection and no soft resets may generate new items afterwards. Use the same soft resetting methods in the Crystal Caverns section on normal and member chests to experience accelerated speed of obtaining rare loot.
