Seasonal Tournaments Update is an idea for a seasonal arena in Prodigy Math. Players are able to gamble seasonal currency in real time while betting on the victories of other wizards. It is to be released sometime after the Rueful's Epics Update.
Overview[]
During each of the canon events (Springfest, Summerfest, Starlight Festival, Pumpkinfest, and Winterfest), a seasonal tournament opens up and the old Arena Caller comes to the Town Square of Lamplight Town to moderate both bets and battles. When each return of an event happens, the player mail states that the tournament is available for players levels 30 and up. If a player's wizard is less than level 30, clicking on the Arena Caller will result in him telling them "You don't seem like that strong of a wizard. You might want to reach level 30 before entering the big leagues."
Otherwise, players that click on the Arena Caller will be greeted by "Welcome back to the [EVENT NAME] Seasonal Tournament! Would you like to check it out?" If the player proceeds, they will observe an Arena UI similar to the Harmony Island Arena. Players can circumvent talking with the Arena Caller by clicking on the golden trophy overworld button at the bottom of the wizard UI, where the "Seasonal Tournament" tab pops up, and they immediately observe the Seasonal Arena's UI.
Tier System[]
There are three tiers for each season (with the same point intervals for the Harmony Island Arena's Bronze tiers), and they are unique for each season. The following lists show tiers that increase by points. The top tiers of each three have no point cap.
- Springfest Seasonal Tournament
- Grass Tier (0-499)
- Wood Tier (500-999)
- Flower Tier (1000+)
- Summerfest Seasonal Tournament
- Rain Tier (0-499)
- Coral Tier (500-999)
- Ocean Tier (1000+)
- Starlight Festival Seasonal Tournament
- Asteroid Tier (0-499)
- Meteor Tier (500-999)
- Comet Tier (1000+)
- Pumpkinfest Seasonal Tournament
- Pumpkin Tier (0-499)
- Torch Tier (500-999)
- Lantern Tier (1000+)
- Winterfest Seasonal Tournament
- Cold Tier (0-499)
- Snow Tier (500-999)
- Mountain Tier (1000+)
For each battle won manually, the victor receives 15 points if they won against a player with the same or lower level, or 16-25 points based on how many levels greater the opponent was. For each time a player's AI defeats a manual opponent while they are away, they are awarded 10 more points. For each manual loss, they lose 10 points, and for each loss while they are away, they lose 5 points. Players cannot have negative points, and if they lose 5-10 points with less than the available points, they will have their points reduced to 0.
Players are also placed on their tier's leaderboard based on their points and their win-loss ratio (W:L). Players with the same amount of points are sorted based on descending W:L. Players are able to challenge wizards up to five places above or below them, and players are able to report wizards if they have hacked equipment, pets, and elements just from their leaderboard entry. Players with both the same points and W:L are sorted by level (those with a higher level are higher in rank) and, if that is still the same, by the age of the players' accounts.
Battling[]
Players are given an entire list of other players in their leaderboard and can immediately challenge ten different wizards, but they can also observe a list of all players within 100 points of them, and can challenge any one of them while observing their equipment, level, and pets. While team potions, team food, and runes are not allowed to be used in Seasonal Tournaments, the MAX power mechanics of the older arenas. Players can report entries they see for hacking. Regular food, potions, and battle items can still be used. Crystal Monsters may not be used in any Seasonal Tournaments.
Betting[]
Players can bet on battles that are currently occurring and are able to spectate from the challenger's perspective, and they may place a bet of 1, 2, 5, 10, or 20 event currency. Only the current event's currency may be used for gambling. Players may place bets on which wizard's team will win, but betting is disabled after the last member of a team has less than 50% of their hearts remaining to avoid unfair advantages. Players may only raise the stakes of their bet and they may not stop spectating until the battle ends. Players may "fold" if they wish to leave, which forfeits all their bets and it goes towards the total proceeds accrued by the bets.
To place a bet, players must correctly answer 1 math question to place a bet of 1, 2, or 5 event currency, 2 questions for 10, and 3 for 20. For each raise of stake, two more questions must be answered.
Once the battle ends, all victors receive back the currency they gambled on plus their fair share of how many were forfeited by players that betted on the losing team. If there were no losers, each player gains the following extra currency from their bets:
Bet | Extra Yield |
---|---|
1 | 1 |
2 | 1 |
5 | 1 |
10 | 2 |
20 | 3 |
