Shadows

She steps through the shadows, silent as a ghost.

She is waiting for someone.

Her armor glistens in the weak patches of moonlight.

Her armor is made of dragon scales.

A dragon that refused to be tamed.

So, she killed it.

That taught the others a lesson.

There is a rustle in the leaves behind her.

Very faint.

There he is.

He is like a shadow itself.

Clouds of it drip from the edges of his cloak.

He carries a staff. It emits shadows,

they pour out of it like water.

His yellow eyes gleam from under the wide brim of his hat.

She turns to face him, drawing her sword.

It is made from the dragon's fangs.

"You know it's me," he says.

She scoffs.

"I know it's you." She replies.

He slowly hovers out into the small clearing.

She jumps foreword and presses the blade to his neck.

"What is this?" He exclaims.

"You don't hurt me." She snaps, then draws back her sword.

"I'm not going to hurt you. Both sides of the Order came together last night,"

"Never trust anybody,"

She steps back into the shadows.

"First, let's get this over with. You want to tame dragons," She twirls her sword and slices it through the air.

"But you must understand, only I kill dragons, Nemo."

He stumbles back, then with a cloud of shadows, he is human again.

"I told you not to call me that. You know my weakness." He growls.

She laughs.

"I know everything's weakness."

Then suddenly, she is behind him, knife to his neck again.

"Enough with the knife," he hisses, attempting to grab it from her.

She digs it into his neck, ever so slightly.

A trickle of blackish blood emerges, then evaporates into the night air.

"Aha. Just as I thought." She says cooly.

She steps back and shines off her blade on the grass.

The grass withers and dies where the remnants of his blood touch.

"I won't tell you my secrets," She whispers, in front of him again.

He looks at her.

Then, he is covered in shadows again.

He steps out, a shadow being again.

"You'll regret this someday," He says before turning away.

"You know I will. But I'll die with my secrets." She sheathes her sword and turns towards the moon.

He looks back at her.

He knows she is perfect.

She knows he is perfect.

She whistles,

clear and loud,

breaking the silence of the night.

The dragon sweeps in front of the moon.

It isn't very big yet.

It is only a few years old.

However, this is the perfect age for training them.

But only if they know my secrets. She thinks, running towards the dragon.

It is covered in all sorts of equipment, straps and buckles.

A saddle,

and muzzle.

Just in case it got any ideas.

Its purple feathers ruffle as it lands.

She hops on its back and hisses something to it in dragon language.

It leaps up into the air, soaring off into the night sky.

He looks after her.

He knows that she killed the dragon's mother.

He knows her actions could have consequences.

But he doesn't think much of it.

He only wants the dragon's power.
