Book 1: Scar Tissue
Book 2: Passport to Prodigia
Part One: The Stars[]
They think life is a simple game,
where the flowers are a delicate dance of petals and colors.
How quaint.
How laughable.
They’ll plant their seeds,
tend to them with love,
carefully arranging the soil,
believing that they can coax any measure of beauty from it,
as if it’s that simple.
As if they hold any control at all.
They’ll compete for sunlight,
fight for space in the soil,
and they’ll water their plants with hope,
believing their tender care
will bring them victory.
How precious.
How doomed.
The flowers will rise,
each one thinking it’s the one that’ll stand tallest,
the one that’ll claim the prize.
But no one told them.
That the master of puppets has already chosen the victor -
- and it won’t be any of them.
Chapter 1: From Out of Nowhere[]
The grass was greener.
The light was brighter.
The taste was sweeter.
The nights of wonder.
With friends surrounded.
The dawn mist glowing.
The water flowing.
Like the endless river that flowed throughout the sun-kissed fields that made up the most beautiful place she’d ever known. Now here she went again, pacing throughout the dirt paths and gazing at the hills and great mountainscapes in the dying hours of the afternoon, and then the stars in the waking hours of the night, drawing and sketching away in her notepad.
How the flowers bloomed in the midnight light, the promise of hope after the winter. Amathine sat down, her red hair blowing gently in the pleasant wind.
