“ | Didn't mean to make things stormy. | ” |
Storm is a Time Traveler, Voidwalker, and Storm Trainee who makes appearances in the ROTW roleplay series.
Appearance[]
General[]
He's often seen wearing a lab coat and a t-shirt with an image of a planet or cogs on it. His lab coat is either knee-lengthed or hip-lengthed depending on how hot or cold it is outside.
His visor allows his arm brace to work, and has a similar UI to a phone, but without the touch screen and way more complicated. It also covers up the cyborg components he isn't comfortable exposing. The arm brace itself has a few... additional functions, which might explain why the glove is more complicated then it should be.
He has gray hair, which used to be brown. After being in an incident it grew back gray for some reason. Another result of the incident is his paralysis, causing his crooked right hand and the need for the brace. A bit of his components are visible on his face, but often mistaken for part of the visor.
His bangs hang over the entirety of the left side of his face... unless he raises the visor. When the left side of his face is visible, it's possible to notice that his left eye is more faded in color, metal plating cover from just below the eye down to his jaw, as well as the fact his skin is darker on his left side due to being burned.
Modified[]
The after tweaking some of his components, one of them overlapped his neck, and most of the components on his face been removed as the area gradually healed. There's still quite a few there though.
The removal of his facial components allow for more of his burn scars to be visible, but they're normally kept covered up by his bangs. When visible you can see a strip of metal just below his eye, connecting to plating on the side of his face.
He now has a component on his right wrist, which allows for increased motion in his right hand, he still can't straighten his fingers all the way, however.
At the time of modifying his components, that growth spurt that's been delayed by one too many time loops finally happened, and for once in his life he actually looks eighteen.
As of The Wardens Renowned roleplay, he has multiple black and purple scars, most concentrated on his left leg, but kept covered by his clothing.
Adult (Pre-Ground Zero)[]
After marrying Juniper, he began to allow himself to age to avoid drawing her, Caleb, and Grace’s suspicion. His hair grew out - hanging below his shoulders - and he generally appears to be in his early forties.
Notably, he doesn’t wear his visor as much, only sliding it on to check on his many occupations.
Adult (Post-Ground Zero)[]
After Ground Zero, he takes up wearing a long-sleeved turtleneck shirts instead of his coat, as the hems of his coat tend to trip up his crutch. He also wears an improved brace, resembling armor versus the pair of flawed, strapped-on metal rods that composed he is previous.
After completing his leg brace, he takes up wearing his coat again, albeit it's been modified by Rai. After he accidentally split the hem from fidgeting with it, Rai sewed it into coat-tails, decorated with the symbols of the Academy to identify him as a Warden—or at the very least, a member of the Academy staff. The coat is now lined with fleece to keep him warm, and it also has hood...albeit he mostly just uses it so Wattage has a napping spot (aside from atop his head). He also notably began to wear oversized pants, albeit he refuses to specify why.
Personality[]
His mood swings wildly with situations, altering his behavior drastically, however, there are a few things that remain unchanged.
He's a very anxious person and can come off as a bit childish in a good mood, often fiddling or cracking puns to bring down his anxiety. Yet as his anxiety worsens, he becomes more serious or aggressive, forgetting to do things that help calm him down until he crosses a line.
His temper easily flares whenever someone judges him due to his paralysis or whenever he's unable to move properly because of it, often turning down help and determined to do things himself. Whenever particularly ticked off he subconsciously generates electricity, making him rather hard to approach. In a particularly foul mood, he's more reckless or even blind sighted to the current situation, but he admits to this and tries to improve in this area.
He's fond of children and gladly babysits, yet as of the late, he's a bit too busy for this and often asks others for help with his own kids. He notably enjoys sweets, but is a horrid chef, leading him to being quite appreciative of Juniper's desserts, particularly her brownies.
He's also been described as "asexual" for varying reasons; primarily due to his ability to reproduce asexually (read: Raiden Dreamchaser) and secondarily due to his total blindness towards romantic situations. He vaguely understands that people normally find sexual attraction in another person, however he fails to apply this to himself and was shortsighted towards Juniper's interest towards him until the events of Greyshift Coronation.
He notably has diogenes syndrome, which is normally mistaken for regular messiness. However, he neglects himself completely, going unnoticed by everyone except Wattage. As a student, he was known for having the messiest dorm, much to his embarrassment, and as a trainee, he ultimately had the most cluttered wing of the common room. On the single occasion Chase visited him, instead of cleaning off the disaster on his desk, he opted to instead knock the mess onto the floor. This is heavily worsened by his mania states as he tends to avoid eating, drinking, and on occasion, even sleeping in order to focus on what he's working on, leading to Wattage having to force him to practice basic self-care.
He has difficulties with anger management, sometimes taking out his anger violently after being pushed to a certain degree. Despite this, he notably gets a unsettled at seeing others being harmed, especially due to having mirror-touch synesthesia—feeling other's pain as his own. He's also very sensitive to what people say around him, stemming from another form of synesthesia he has—tactile synesthesia—causing him to feel physical discomfort at hearing certain words.
Weapons/Gear[]
Tech Wizard Lens: Slightly modified. What's intrigues you, however, is that there's some sort of app that shows you... a map of the universe???
Arm Brace: Being paralyzed in his left arm, he has a technical component to help him move it. Unlike the rest of his components, this one comes off easily.
Tech Wizard Laser: Modified to behave like a lightsaber, there's some strange tech in it... where the heck is this guy from?
Storm Titan Boots: He got them after a run in with a Storm Titan. Let's just say "Lucy" was mad.
Abilities[]
General[]
Storm Magic: He learned Storm Magic after discovering it could be used for more than just magical things. In other words, technology.
Telekinesis: An ability used often, which takes years for wizards to perfect. He, however, is more practiced in the field of Electrokinesis, the storm variant. Whenever using Electrokinesis (semi-consciously or consciously), a field of static energy often generates around him as he's conducting or containing mass amounts of electrical elemental energy.
Astral Magic: He naturally posses it.
Hearing: He's capable of hearing high pitched frequencies, and his visor enhances it. During his time on Shiverchill Mountains, it kept him from being caught in one of many avalanches.
Miscellaneous[]
Warden's Touch: Before Lane, Chase, and the rest became wardens, he was supposed to take the Storm Warden's place. Interestingly enough, Professor Greenheart was the only original apprentice who actually wound up as a warden. He can manipulate the Storm Gem, but it often refuses to respond to him, seeing Lane is the current Storm Warden.
With Visor[]
Time Manipulation: Storm has admitted to reversing, speeding up, and looping time. He figured out how to do this after failing to discover how to travel to another dimension. After accidently placing the entirety of the island in a time-loop, his friends became wary of his time obsession. No matter how many times he tried, however, he's never been able to stop time, and says "That's Aly's thing".
With Brace[]
Enhanced Strength: For a burst of time, he can reach the strength of a fairy his age. However, it puts a lot of strain on his natural arm (right arm), and he can only sustain the brace's maximum for a few minutes.
Other Components[]
Holographic UI: He can conjure up a holographic variant of his visor's UI. Useful when he loses his map.
Enhanced Speed: The internal components in his leg can help him move faster than most, capping at 40 mph. He can go faster, but like his brace, it puts a lot of strain on his natural leg (right leg).
Borg Hive Mind: When around other borgs, one can invoke a frequency causing hive mind mode. All borgs with the proper components and within the proper radius can and will enter a robotic, systematic behavior, working to meet the invoker's goal. Storm has never invoked a hive mind, but has entered the mode multiple times before... as punishment.
Strengths & Weaknesses[]
Strengths[]
Water Magic
Shadow Magic
Weaknesses[]
Ice Magic
Borg Hive Mind: Though no one has found out how to fully control him, the rest of the trainees figured out how to get him to shut up while leaving his consciousness in-tact. This often leaves him in a very annoyed state, but unable to say anything.
Water: He has a habit of forgetting to water-proof his arm brace.
Paralysis: You would think he's used to it by now, but whenever he doesn't have his brace on (or it stops working), he gets quite snappy when you try to help him out.
Lane: Not only does Lane view him as a disgrace to Storm Magic (he may had made the mistake of cracking a pun near Lane), he prevents Storm from fully utilizing the Storm Gem.
Half-Blindness: He is partially blind in his left eye, only seeing what he describes as "silhouettes" and "auras" out of it (The Faen Wind). After it was void tainted he manages to see better out of it, but has a form of tritanopia (read: color blindness).
Trivia[]
- According to Aly, not only is he from another universe, he's from another dimension.
- He's slightly paralyzed in his right arm as well, causing his fingers to be a bit crooked.
- Despite Ian and the others becoming wardens, he didn't lose the streak in his hair, or his ability to control the Storm Gem. Aly assumes this is because the young wardens didn't gain their position the proper way, he had a thing or two to add on to this theory.
- He's the youngest of the original trainees.
- Despite having similar interests as Cloud, they never became friends. Possibly because Storm has a habit of ruining the timeline.
- He was originally created when Solo took an interest on Star Wars, Star Trek, Star Gate, and just about anything space related. He's mainly based of Seven of Nine (hence the facial components). He also (accidently) wound up sharing a few traits with Zane, and is constantly reminding people that despite being a Borg, he's still just a regular kid.
- He does acknowledge being a Cyborg, however, if you call him a Robot, he won't take to it very well.
- He will not under any circumstances answer any question whatsoever relating to how he became a cyborg nor how he was burned.
- He is the owner of the clock used by the young wardens in The Crystal Queen.
- His last name is actually "Chaser", but he added "Dream" to the beginning to match the naming conventions native to the island.
- As an extraterrestrial/dimensional Voidwalker, he's as powerful as the Darkshades - excluding LS.
- He helps Eugene keep tabs on Skywatch - when and how he does this, however, is unexplained. My best guess? Time loops.
- As hailing from a species of humans known as Homo Electro, his blood is actually poisonous. However, it takes a minimum of 14 ml to kill a person, which is why Chase didn't suffer from poisoning in Ceasefire, as the amount used in the blood transfusion was 1 to 5 ml.
- His patron god (according to Greek Mythology) is actually Ares, the God of War. Notably, Ares had 8 children, while Storm had 7.
- His middle name is Πλούτων (Pluto/Hades), who is, frankly, the God of the Underworld (also according to Greek Mythology).
- He's a gay-orientated aroace.
