Fire... Ice... Water... Earth... Storm... Astral... Shadow...
These are names we list when the Elements are discussed, but how does any creature in the Prodigy World use these elements?
The Ancient[]
I instantly disapprove of any theory relating to the Elements (besides Astral and Shadow) being created by anyone. Why? The Ancient.
Harmony, according to Prodigy, is only mentioned to create Astral by combining all their elemental power - the five elements (strongly supporting concepts I bring up in my guide). The other 5 have an unknown origin, but existed as long as Harmony themselves. Harmony existed since the creation of the world (in the Prodigy Universe), meaning that nothing could've created the elements before them/her.
Elementals???[]
Glassfire, a wand in Prodigy, has this description "This strange orb seems to have a small elemental stuck inside, though it seems happy enough in there."
What even is an Elemental? Judging by the name, you would guess elemental energy, but the description suggests that Elementals have feelings, making it an entity or spirit.
So what is it, elemental energy or a entity/spirit? Both. The Elemental is capable of providing the wand with power, meaning it's full of elemental energy, but it also expresses emotions and reacts to situations.
Corruption[]
Shadow corrupts it's host/user, causing them to behave differently subconsciously. Makulu, upon being corrupted, destroyed the mine tracks in Crystal Caverns and went on a rampage, but it's actually a friendly creature who enjoys crystals as a snack.
Yet how can Shadow do that without damaging the mind? Possession. If an element is capable of possessing the user/host (as I mentioned in Elemental Balance), then something is definitely off here...
Spirits[]
So, what does all this have to do with the theorem of elemental spirits?
- The elements existed as long as the Ancient, therefore cannot have been created by a physical being such as a wizard.
- Harmony only created Astral, and that was by combining all elemental energy (excluding Shadow).
- Elementals prove that the elements are capable of taking on a spiritual/physical form.
- The fact the elements (such as Shadow) are capable of controlling it's user prove intelligence, feelings, and a thought process.
Seeing that it would've taken time for a physical elemental creature to grown and evolve, that leaves spirits.
So next time you cast a spell, think, who's really in control?
