Episode Minus[]

Darkness.

Then a yellowish light.

She walked towards the light tiredly, as she rubbed her eyes. She was in pink heart pajamas. As she walked towards the light, there was a droning sound. It got louder as she walked closer. The yellowish light got brighter, until it seemed almost white. She stuck her hand into the light. It felt like her hand was pulsating. She took a deep breath, and jumped through the light.

She was in a cave. Inside of the cave was an old man wearing red. He had a sword next to him.

”Go ahead.” Said the man. “Take it.”

She walked towards the sword, pulled it out of the cave floor, and held it above her head. She moved to walk out of the cave, when there was a loud beeping noise.

”Time to wake up, Elise!” Said the man.

Suddenly, she woke up in a bed with purple sheets. She was in a room with a desk with a chair, and a poster of a pop singer, and a very loud digital clock. The girl got up, and pounded her fist on the clock, shutting it off. After shutting off her alarm clock, she got up, and changed into her Academy uniform. She then walked out of the door carrying a backpack.

As Elise walked through the hallways, filled with other Academy students, wearing the same uniform, she decided to check out the Warden Keystone Area, and maybe bask in the glow of the keystones as the morning sun shine onto them. It gave them the most magnificent glowing effect.

Then, the ground shook. Elise fell over, falling on her bag filled with books and wands. The keystones rose off of their pedestals, and started spinning. Thunder started booming, as the keystones spun even faster in a multicolored rainbow. A few seconds later, the Academy exploded, some people being killed in the blast, and the collateral damage destroying half the town.

This would be the start to an exciting journey.

Episode 1[]

It had been 10 years since the explosion. Elise had been living in an empty dumpster ever since she was 4. She didn’t know her parents, or even if she had any. She just woke up one day at the front gates of the Academy. Since there was no more Academy, there was no more dorm, and no more dorm means no more home. Elise was effectively homeless. Today, instead of being in the dumpster in the alleyways next to the wand store, she was at the General Store. She had finally gotten enough money to buy some food. As she was on her way out with a giant bag of sandwiches, someone charged into the store while holding a crossbow.

“GIMME ALL OF THE MONEY IN THE REGISTER!” She yelled.

Elise walked past her. The robber turned around. “Hey, get on the ground right now!”

Elise ignored her, instead moving her hand to push out the door.

The robber fired her crossbow at her. Elise got a glint in her eye, and ducked. She then dropped her back, and slapped the bow out of her hands. The robber pulled out a wand, and it was slapped out of her hands, too. The robber moved to punch her, but Elise dodged, and the robber punched glass. She clutched her fist, before giving up and leaving the store.

Elise snapped out of it, and looked confused. Why did she do that? How did she do that? That was very confusing. She left the store, and returned to the alleyway next to the Wand Store.

Hours later, when the night sky was as black as the shirt I’m wearing right now, she had another dream. This time, it was of the same man in the red robe that she met 10 years ago in her dreams. He was holding a sword in his hand.

”Well,” he said. “It seems as if you’re in a tough situation.”

Elise nodded her head.

”Well, I will bear you a gift. A sword. You will need it to survive.”

The old man placed the sword into Elise’s hands. The black hilt felt just right in her hand, and the blade was sleek and shiny. Elise swung the sword around a few times, before giving a thumbs up to the old man.

Elise woke up, surprisingly, with that same sword in her hands. She held it in her hands as she climbed out of the dumpster only to begin her day.

Elise was walking through Lamplight Town, her sword in her hand. In the 10 years that she had been living in that dumpster, she had seen some changes to her town. Some of Lamplight Town had been destroyed by the debris of the exploding Academy, and so, when that part was being rebuilt, they made that specific part bigger, and better, and more modern. The part that wasn’t destroyed ironically became some sort of slum area, as everybody wanted to move to the newer and more improved Lamplight Town. It helped that that part of the town had all the fan favorite attractions, like the Arena, and the Tek-Y4 place, and the pet store, among other things.

Anyways, so Elise was walking through Old Lamplight to New Lamplight, when she saw a wizard attacking townspeople and trying to destroy some of the buildings. He had a dark aura emanating from his wicked looking body. He could even use Shadow magic? What was going on?

Suddenly, the shadow warrior turned his sights on Elise, who grabbed her sword, and prepared to attack, when somebody interrupted her attempted assault.

”You’re going down, shadow warrior!” He said. He leapt in front of the blonde sword fighter, flexing his muscles. He wore a yellow sweater with blue jeans. He pulled out his wand, and fired an Astral spell at the shadow warrior. He took immense damage, before roaring, and firing a shadow blast at the wizards. The other wizard dodged, while Elise charged forwards. She took the hit from the blast, before slashing the warrior across the face. It left a straight red line. Elise then slashed him again, and again, and again, until the shadow warrior fell over, and withered away.

”Whoa, kid. I think you might be better than me!” He said. Elise looked at him, before cocking her head.

”Who… who are you?” She asked.

“I am Elijah Lightshade, employee of the Coliseum Sanctuary.” Said the blond.

”Coliseum Sanctuary?”

”Oh, you haven’t heard? They built a space out of the coliseum for the homeless teenagers.” Said Elijah. “That blast from the Academy wrecked half of Lamplight Town, so the Arena was the the most inhabitable place to live. What, have you been living in a dumpster for the past ten years?”

”No…”

”Come on, I’ll show you the place.”

Elijah led Elise to the live in space inside of the arena.

”Ever since the coliseum wizards went missing, we’ve had to renovate this place.” Said Elijah. “We’ve opened it up to homeless people. I could find you a room, and a new pair of clothes.”

”Okay, thanks.” said Elise, as she smiled.

This would be the start to a new and convoluted adventure.

Episode 2[]

Elise was walking through the coliseum, with a new set of clothes on. She wears a blue t-shirt covered by a black jacket, with pink jeans, and white shoes. She was on her way to get some lunch in the newly built kitchen, when she was stopped.

”Sorry, ma’am.” Said an adult. “A shadow warrior attacked, so the kitchen is closed in fear of contamination.

”Shadow magic contaminates things?” Asked the blonde.

”Well, we’re not sure, but someone was turned into a shadow warrior while eating a bowl of soup yesterday, so we’re closing it just in case. Case in point, you’ll have to go to a restaurant today.”

Elise grumbled as she grabbed her sword, and walked outside.

Lamplight Town was basically wrecked. Even the coliseum had been separated from the arena, despite the two being joined together. Most of the buildings were a wreck, and the ones that were still standing rarely had utilities. The only people who had fully intact homes got rich off of charging fees to live in it. The restaurants only do slightly better. Most of them are take out only, and the food takes a while due to the chefs having to cook the food with a campfire rather than a stove.

Elise walked up to one of these restaurants, called ‘Nathan’s Rations’. As she walked up to the counter to place an order, a rush of memories came back to her.

Hold on, that’s-

“Hello, ma’am. What would you like to order today?” Asked the old cashier. “Maybe some ‘dream fries’? How about some ‘sword burgers’?”

”Um, the sword burgers?”

”Okay, cheeseburgers coming right up.” He said, as he walked back into the kitchen.

30 minutes later, the cashier, presumably named Nathan walked out with a plate full of cheeseburgers, with a blue bracelet on top of the one in the middle.

”Hey, what’s this?” Asked Elise.

”Oh, it’s part of a special promotion. Legend has it that if you wear that bracelet, you’ll gain immense power. That should help against the shadow warriors.” Replied Nathan.

Elise shrugged and left, eating her burgers. When she finished, she decided to put on the bracelet. As she walked home, the bracelet glowed, which Elise took notice of. She walked into an alleyway so that people wouldn’t see the glowing bracelet and attract attention to her.

A few seconds later, a blue light flew towards her.

”So you’re the new defender…” it said.

”The new what?”

”The new guardian, destined to stop the reign of shadow warriors!”

”Wait, slow down, what’s going on?”

”The shadow warriors originated from a dark master, who took advantage of the destruction of the A-“

”No, no, not that. What’s with the guardian stuff?”

”Well, the dark master is believed to be using a special charm, and he is trying to get his hands on the other two, as they also give great powers.”

”Okay, miss exposition, what’s my power?”

”Well, you’ll just have to transform and see.”

Elise closed her eyes, and waited, only for nothing to happen.

”You have to say, ’Warp in’.”

Elise closed her eyes, gripped her sword, and shouted the two words. The light flew into the bracelet, causing another bright blue light to glow, as Elise’s new clothes transformed. It transformed into a tight super suit complete with boots, gloves and a belt with a portal insignia on the chest. She also had a blue domino mask. Her sword had gotten a little longer, with a blue hilt, and metallic blue blade. She also had a grappling hook on her belt, which looked like a yo-yo, but with the claws protruding from the top.

”Whoa, what am I wearing?” She asked herself.

”You are wearing the mystic suit of the defender of transportation.” Said the light, whose voice was now inside of her head. “It contains certain qualities, such as an extending grappling hook, and a magical portal sword.”

”And how do I activate the portal?”

”Well-“

Suddenly, there was some screaming coming from the town. There was a shadow warrior attacking, and Elise ran out to see what was going on.

”Quick, you must help those people!” Said the voice.

Elise grabbed her sword, and ran at the shadow warrior. She swung at it, but it caught the blade, and burped a dark cloud at her. She dodged, and tried slashing at it multiple times. It kept dodging, and Elise got frustrated. She then looked at a lamppost, and clutched her grappling hook. She swung it multiple times before throwing it at the post, wrapping around multiple times. She then pulled on it as it fell on top of the shadow warrior, as it died.

”Whoa, that was awesome!” Said the blonde.

The people around her started cheering for her, as she took a bow. She then left back into the alleyway.

”Now, say, ‘Warp out’.”

Elise repeated the words, as her sword got shorter, and her suit and grappling hook disappeared. The light came back.

”So, do you think you’ll like being a guardian?” Asked the light.

”Well, yeah!” She said.

And so, Elise walked out of the alleyway, and went back to the coliseum.

Meanwhile, somewhere far away, a shadowy figure was sitting in a dark room, the only light coming from the huge window that he was sitting in front of.

”A new guardian?!” He exclaimed. “This is unprecedented! I have to do something about it!”

He clutched his chest in pain.

”Alas, creating fully new shadow warriors has taken so much power. I must seek a new way to achieve my dream!”

He stared at a photo in his hand of an angel, with demon horns.

”Julia, I’m coming!”

Episode 3[]

Elise was enjoying the guardian life. She got to practice her new abilities against street thugs and shadow warriors, and she could keep doing this endlessly, since it wasn’t like there was any school, or anything.

She was reading a book in her room, when she got a knock on the door from Elijah.

”Hey, Elise?” He said. “We’re gonna have a meeting sometime soon. I hope you’ll be there.”

”Sure.” Said Elise. “I’ll be right there.”

As soon as Elijah left the room, the blue light came out from under Elise’s pillow.

”You’re keeping up with this pretty well.” Said the light.

”Thanks, Foi.”

”Foi?”

”Well, I’m giving you a nickname.”

”Why?”

”How else am I gonna talk to you normally?”

”Foi… I like it.”

And with that, Elise put away her book, and went to this common room type area. Everybody else were sitting in couches, as Elijah, a brown haired man, and a red haired boy were standing in front of the couches.

“Whoa, who’s that boy?” Whispered Elise to Foi, who was currently in her pocket. “He’s cute.”

”How should I know? I don’t know him.” Replied Foi.

Elijah grabbed a microphone, and tapped it twice.

”Hello, people of the sanctuary. I have an announcement.” He said. Everyone paid attention. “Billionaire fashion designer Jackson Fireblade and his son, Johnny have come to stay at the sanctuary. He’s also agreeing to donate a bunch of money, so that we can afford food. He’s also overseeing the construction to the place where we will occupy in a year!”

Everyone cheered. Elise was happy, too, for some reason. Later that day, she saw Johnny moving his stuff into a room, which happened to be right next to hers.

”Oh, hey.” Said Johnny, who had noticed her.

”H-hey.” Replied Elise. “So, you’re moving in?”

”Yep.”

”Well, my room is right next to ours.”

”Cool, maybe I’ll see you around.”

”Maybe I’ll see you too.”

Johnny walked into his room, as Elise was ecstatic on the inside.

Later that night, Elise was patrolling Lamplight Town, when she noticed someone lurking in the darkness on top of a roof. She grabbed her sword, and slowly walked towards this person. As she got closer, the person snarled. It was a shadow warrior!

Elise hopped backwards, before holding her sword in a ready position. The shadow warrior grew in size, and fired a blast of shadow magic at her. Elise kept dodging, before deciding to whirl her grappling hook, and throwing it at the shadow warrior. It roared, and tried to break free. It struggled, and struggled, and finally broke free.

The shadow warrior was pissed, and was about to fire off a massive blast of Shadow magic, when it suddenly stopped. The shadow warrior fell over, cuts suddenly appearing across his stomach.

Elise looked at her sword, wondering if she did that, before a figure stepped out of the shadows. He had red hair, a black domino mask, and a tight black and green super suit. Built into his gloves were steel claw weapons.

"Whoa, another guardian?" He asked.

Elise was also surprised.

"I thought I was the only one." she said.

"Well, what's your name?"

Elise knew that she couldn't give her real name. She'd read enough tattered comic books to know that it's a bad idea to do so. She thought for a second.

"Lady-Warp, Warp, or Lady, for short." she said.

The other hero, knowing that she willing used a fake name, decided to use one too.

"Mine's Metal Claw, Claw for short." he said. His claws retracted as he shook Lady-Warp's hand.

"So, I take it you also beat up shadow warriors?"

"Well, yeah. I'm kind of new to it, but I'm getting the hang of it."

Suddenly, the shadow warrior in front of them got back up, and roared. The two guardians turned to face him, and got their weapons ready. Claw leapt forward, slashing at the shadow warrior, who kept moving backwards. Ladywarp took the opportunity to whirl her grappling hook at a random chimney, which was behind the shadow warrior. He tripped over the line, as Claw pounced on him, and started slashing at his stomach. The shadow warrior threw him off, and got back up.

Immediately, he was tied up by Ladywarp's hook.

"That again?" asked Claw.

"Hold on, lemme try something." said Ladywarp, looking at some power lines.

Ladywarp's hands glowed a little, before the circle part of her grappling hook glowed with Astral magic. The magic courses through the shadow warrior's body, but what happened next surprised the two heroes.

The shadow warrior turned into a regular wizard.

"Where am I?" he asked.

"On the rooftops." replied Claw.

"How'd I get here?"

"You ask us." said Ladywarp. "You were a shadow warrior a minute ago."

"Well, I have one more question."

"What is it?"

"Can you please untie me?"

As Ladywarp and Claw untied the poor man, the same dark figure from last time was watching from a building in the shadows.

"Another guardian?" he asked. He clenched his fist, as his eyes glowed purple. "I must take them both down, but how?"

The figure retreated into darkness, as Ladywarp and Claw helped the man down from the building.

"Hey, you were a pretty good help." said the heroine.

"Thanks," said Claw. "You were pretty good, too."

Ladywarp was going to shake his hand, when Claw retracted the claws in his gauntlet, and gave her a fist bump instead, as he retreated into the night. Ladywarp left, too.

In a dark alleyway, Claw was walking back to the sanctuary, when he heard a beeping noise. A minute later, he transformed back into a regular red haired boy.

It was Johnny.

Out of the palm of his right glove came a green light.

"Hey, why'd I change back?, Sabre?" asked Johnny.

"Well, that's how it works. You get around 2 hours maximum. Then after my battery died, you gotta wait for a minute before I can transform back." said the green light.

"You didn't think you could've told me that beforehand?"

"Well, we could speed up the process if you got me some nachos."

"How do you even eat? You're literally light."

"Just wait until I evolve..."

"Wait, what?"

"Nothing."

And so, Johnny walked back to the sanctuary, talking to Sabre.

Episode 4[]

Elise was sitting on a bench in the sanctuary. She was busy watching people pass by, when a girl with glasses sat down next to her. She had dark brown hair, a blue shirt, and jeans.

"Hey there." she said. "I'm Ava."

"I'm Elise."

"My family moved here a while ago. I haven't been able to talk to anyone, though. My mom wanted me to go out and find some food, first."

"Yeah, it took me a while to find food, too. I found this cool restaurant, though."

The two girls kept chatting about life 'n stuff, when Ava was called by her mom.

"I need to go, I'll see you later?" Asked Ava.

"Sure!" said Elise.

And so, as her new friend left, Elise smiled. She'd made a friend that she could actually talk to without feeling week in the knees.
