I was getting a bit ticked off when people make OCs without knowing what they're doing so..... I made a few guides? Obviously, the first one is about Fairies.
Fairies, not to be mistaken for Faeries, are a species native to the Island of Prodigy and often seen in fantasy and fairy tales. They are a rarer species, meaning you should be careful not to overuse Fairy OCs.
Exclusive Vs Common[]
Exclusive sub-species (races) are rarer, meaning they should be used less often as OCs. For example, Ivories are Prodigy's equivalent to albinos, which is why there is only one Ivory Fairy in-game, as well as Ivory Truckles and TripTrops being hard to find.
Common sub-species are seen and mentioned normally, such as Earth Fairies. You're more likely to come across one than an Exclusive - with the exception being Noot, who's seen quite often, and possibly Gale, but unlike Noot, he sticks to a single location.
Appearance and Ownership[]
A fairy's appearance depends on what sub-species they are.
Canon species are open species, meaning anyone can make an OC. Fanon species, however, can be marked by their creator as a closed (no one can create one besides the owner), open (anyone can create one), or semi-open (the owner has set rules for using them) species.
I made references for the wings and tails of some of these species, but not all of them. Note that I've been researching fairies for 5-6 years now, so I have reasoning for the designs.
If you wish for your fanon species to be added, please comment pinging me like so: @Delta.
Exclusive[]
Ivory Fairy: Canon[]
Ivory Fairies are gray in skin tone. They have amber, yellow, light gray, or pink eyes. Their wings are normally tattered in shape due to abuse from other tribe members, and are colored gold, white, faint green, blue, or a mixture of the three. Their tails are longer and thinner than what's usual, sometimes forking at the end depending on what species they hail from. Their tail fur/scales are white, gold, white with a gold pattern, or gold with a white pattern. Their hair can range from white, light gray, or bluish-gray. They have pointed ears, and are practically the Albino variants of fairies in the Prodigy universe.
They're also slimmer in body shape than a wizard, and depending on parentage, can be digitigrades or plantigrades.
The most commonly known Ivory Fairy is Gale, the Academy Keeper.
Astral Fairy: Semi-Canon (Open Species)[]
Astral Fairies are fair-skinned, have fluffy tails, and their wing evolved to be smaller than most fairies, causing them to tire faster, but fit into smaller spaces - such as doorways. Their tail fur always matches the color of their hair, which ranges from blond to brown. Their wings can be white, blue, or light yellow. Their eyes are most commonly blue but can be brown or yellow. Some families have pointed ears due to elven decent, others do not.
Noot is considered by some as an Astral Fairy with Dwarfism.
Astral Fairies are rare, so be careful not to overuse them. They are plantigrades as their wingspan is smaller, and the wings are thinner.
Shadow/Dark Fairy (Prodigy): Fanon (Semi-Open Species)[]
General[]
Dark Fairies are variants. This means, for example, an Earth Fairy can be a Dark Fairy, and would retain the appearance of an Earth Fairy, but gain the abilities of a Dark Fairy. The only way for their appearance to change is if they entered Corrupted Form, which doesn't occur naturally, and entered under extreme force or pressure.
Corrupted[]
In Corrupted Form, their whole appearance changes to match the Shadow element. Their eyes become a shade of purple, black, or purple-blue. Their hair gains metallic black streaks and a thick purple streak near the front of the face. They seem to be surrounded by a partially visible black-purple aura, and depending on the strength of the transformation, their clothing changes drastically. It won't only match something only the Order will wear, depending on the transformation, they can get specific buffs that can give them a great advantage. Their wings become purple and black and seem to fade into shadows at the tips. If they have a tail(s), its fur/plumage color will become black with purple markings. They prefer to melt into the shadows in this form, meaning they're harder to spot.
An exclusive sub-species can only be born as Dark Fairies under very specific circumstances and by a very low chance. It's more common for an Earth Fairy to become a Dark Fairy than an Astral Fairy.
Depending on parentage, they can be digitigrades or plantigrades.
The first Dark Fairy on the wiki to enter Corrupted Form was Dale Sunwillow, also known as "Curse" or "The Puppet Master" in the Prodigia series. He was a Sun Fairy (Exclusive Sub-species), meaning he became a Dark Fairy out of a one of a hundred chance. The series has been retired and Dale is now a wizard, not a fairy.
An active Dark Fairy on the wiki is Gale Windstrider, who has never entered corrupted form and was a former Astral Fairy, but his species changed in a magical incident. It occurred out of a one of a hundred chance. However, Gale Sunwillow is an Ivory Dark Fairy, and it occurred purely because of parentage.
In order to own an OC of the Dark Fairy variant, it is MANDATORY to check in with Delta first.
Solar/Sun Fairy (Prodigy): Fanon (Semi-Open Species)[]
The Prodigy variant of Solar, also known as Sun Fairies, is a fanon fairy race. Their eyes are shades of gold (the rarest being rose-gold), same as their wings. Their tails are similar to those of an Ivory Fairy but much longer and slightly wider. Their wings partially reflect light, causing the illusion of a glow, and their wing color fades when they spend too much time away from the sun, health failing along with it. Their hair is most commonly shades of blond and can be fair or dark-skinned, but often gain a tan when fair-skinned. Their ears are pointed due to Elven descent.
They are plantigrades.
The first Sun Fairy on the Fanon wiki was Sam Sunwillow, owned by Delta, and is currently retired from the wiki. In order to own an OC of the Prodigy variant of Sun Fairies, you must check in with them first.
Lunar/Moon Fairy (Prodigy): Fanon (Semi-Open Species)[]
The Prodigy variant of Lunar, also known as Moon Fairies, is a fanon fairy race. Their eyes range from grayish-white, gray, or blue. Their wings are normally pure white but can be light blue or light gray - or a mixture of all three colors. They have long cat-like tails, tipped with feathers. Their tail feathers can harden under stress or fear, gaining a metallic appearance and becoming hard and sharp as knives. Their feathers match their wing color, while their tail fur matches their hair color. Tail feathers or tail fur being a different color from the wings or hair is rare. Their hair can range from white, gray, light blue, or light blond. Their ears, like those of a Sun Fairy, are pointed due to being of Elven descent. Their wings reflect light more than that of a Sun Fairy, and their skin is fair.
They are digitigrades.
The first Moon Fairy on the Fanon wiki was a hybrid called Luna Moon Flameheart, owned by Delta, and is currently retired from the wiki. In order to own an OC of the Prodigy variant of Moon Fairies, you must check in with them first.
Crystal Fairy: Semi-Canon (Semi-Open Species)[]
They are often considered a "False Wizard" species, as they can make their wings appear and disappear at will. Their wings appear to be made of crystal, levitating them in the air. They are noted for having unusual hair colors, which are normally cool-colors but can also be white or gray. Sometimes when they cause for the wings to vanish, crystals can still be visible on their back, forming a "crest", "throne", or small "wings".
They are plantigrades.
The first Crystal Fairy on the wiki is Mira Shade(song), owned by Delta and Jellybean Jade. In order to own an OC of the Prodigy variant of Crystal Fairy, you must check in with them first - as the Crystal Element is owned by Jade while the species is owned by Solo.
Ice Fairy [FERAL]: Fanon (Semi-Open Species)[]
Normal[]
They bear resemblance to the average Ice Fairy, but have retractable claws and are digitigrades.
Shapeshifted[]
They take on the appearance of large felines adapted to the cold. Ex: Saber-Tooth Tiger, Snow Leopard, etc
The feline they resemble varies depending on the fairy, and their fur color matches the fur color of their tail in fairy form.
The first Feral Ice Fairy on the wiki is Alyss Flameheart, who is a hybrid. It's preferred if you check in with Delta before making a Feral Ice Fairy OC.
Earth Fairy [SILK]: Fanon (Semi-Open Species)[]
They bear resemblance to the average Earth Fairy, but have leaf/petal-like scales on their wrists. These scales hide spinnerets. Silk color is unique, and no two fairies have the same shade.
Unlike their normal variant, they go through metamorphosis at 8.
Common[]
Earth Fairy: Canon[]
They are green or brown in skin tone, and wings vary in color. Their hair is normally brown or green. Sometimes, their wings extend, casting the illusion of having two tails, but Earth Fairies, unlike their fellow fairies, DO NOT have tails but do have pointed ears.
They are plantigrades.
Currently, only Flora and Florian are present in-game.
In order to get references for the anatomy, feel free to ask Delta.
Ice Fairy: Fanon (Open Species)[]
They are fair in skin tone and can have white or blue-ish hair, normally mistaken for ice/snow when they're hiding in the snow of Shiverchill. Their wings are cloudy and not as transparent, and are white or blue, matching the snow. They have long tails, with thick fur to keep them warm. The fur color usually matches the wings. Their eyes are normally shades of blue or gray.
They are normally digitigrades as of evolution, but a rare few show the trait of being a plantigrade. After generations of evolution, they also evolved to have pointed ears regardless of not being of elven decent. These traits help them walk atop the snow without sinking in as well as hear the signs of avalanches long before they happen.
An example would be General Icetalon.
Storm Fairy: Fanon (Open Species)[]
Storm Fairies normally have a gray or fair skin tone. Their wings are gray or yellow in coloration and have dragonfly-shaped wings with pointed tips, made for cutting through the air. Their wing shape greatly differs because they adapted to the high winds of Skywatch, and they're also more resistant to electricity - meaning they don't get shocked as easily. They can have one or two tails, which are long and feather-like. Their "plumage" is normally white or gray in color and can fan out, helping them steer. Their eyes are normally gray or amber. Their hair can be blond, gray, or white.
They are plantigrades(?).
None of Solo's Storm Fairy OCs were ever present on the Fanon Wiki.
In order to get references for the anatomy, feel free to ask Delta.
Water Fairy: Fanon (Open Species)[]
Water Fairies are closest in appearance to their counterpart, Water Faeries. The main difference is that Water Fairies are land creatures, and CANNOT breathe underwater. They can, however, hold their breath for long durations of time. Their top set of wings are thin, while the bottom set is wide. The ridges in their wings contain spines, which slide out when they feel threatened. These spines are venomous and match the wing color. Wings vary in color but can be blue, green, purple, even the white of seafoam. Their wings lighten and darken to match the color of the water they are present in, camouflaging them. Their tails also vary but are often mistaken for seaweed because of their shape. Tails can be long, short, thin, or wide. They have the same color scheme as the wings and can be a different color from their wings. Their hair can be white, gray, murky blond, or light blue. Their skin tone varies.
They are plantigrades(?).
None of Solo's Water Fairy OCs were ever present on the Fanon Wiki. However, Gale & Dale Sunwillow, OCs who are retired from the wiki, were Water Faerie hybrids.
In order to get references for the anatomy, feel free to ask Delta.
Fire Fairy: Fanon (Open Species)[]
Fire Fairies normally have a medium or dark skin tone. Their wings are fire resistant and are often mistaken for flames. They can have red, black, dark blond, or brown hair. In cases where they do have tails, the tails are dragon-like. Their wings are dragon-like in texture, and they have pointed, scaled ears. Their eyes can be a burning red, orange, brown, yellow, or black. Some of them evolved to have retractable claws, and are more feral in nature.
They are digitigrades.
Draco Brightheart is currently the only Fire Fairy on the wiki.
Abilities and Magic[]
Magic[]
Magic varies depending on their sub-species.
- Earth Fairies - Earth Magic
- Fire Fairies - Fire Magic
- Storm Fairies - Storm Magic
- Ice Fairies - Ice Magic
- Water Fairies - Water Magic
- Astral Fairies - Astral Magic
- Sun Fairies - Sun Magic
- Moon Fairies - Moon Magic
- Crystal Fairies - Ice Magic (Common); Crystal Magic (Rare-ish)
Ivory Fairies can manipulate Earth, Ice, and Storm Magic. Depending on parentage, they can also gain other elements. Their dominant element depends on their parentage.
Dark Fairies gain the element of their sub-species, as well as Shadow Magic. I.e. Gale Windstrider possessed Astral Magic, but because he also was a Dark Fairy, he also possessed Shadow Magic.
Fae/Fey Stepping[]
An ability that fairies and faeries have triggered by instinct. It causes them to teleport a short distance away, bringing them to safety, or in some cases, behind the opponent for an advantage.
Speed/Agility[]
The faen kind have an incredibly fast nervous system leading to an unspeakable reaction time. This is due to the speed they need to beat their wings at to get off the ground.
Strength[]
Fairies, due to having flight muscles like birds (as well as a differing muscular system than a human being), are twice as strong as a human (wizard). Unfortunately, this is critical to their survival, since also like birds, they have hollow bones, meaning they get injured easily and need a way to defend themselves in order to prevent such an injury. At the same time, misusing their strength has a risk of shattering multiple - if not one - bones, so it's important to be cautious in how they exert their strength.
Flight[]
They have an average wingspan of ten feet as an adult (the exception are Astral Fairies, who have a slightly smaller wingspan). This allows them to get off the ground, which their flightless counterparts (humans) can only dream of. Their hollow bones also contribute to this. Their wing shape varies per sub-species because of the conditions they have to fly, and generally live in.
Prehensile[]
Fairies, when they have tails, are able to use them as a third arm, due to them being prehensile. As not all sub-species have tails and evolved to fly without them, not all species have this ability. Though, certain sub-species and variants such as Ivory Fairies, Water Fairies, and Sun Fairies wouldn't have a good grip, since their tails are thinner and wouldn't be able to hold larger objects.
Balance[]
Their tails, like that of a cat, help give them with their balance. When they have tails, they gain cat-like reflexes along with them. Notably, their tails are critical for steering in flight, but the way they do so varies depending on species. For example, Storm Fey fan out their tails similar to birds, tilting them to steer in flight. Meanwhile, Astral Fey - whose tails originally evolved to help them balance while climbing - use their tails as a counterweight in flight, forcing their body to make necessary turns.
The reason Earth Fey don't need tails is due to how broad their winds are--not only is their wingspan ~10', but the wings themselves are as wide as their body length. This allows them to fly and steer similar to a butterfly.
Hearing[]
Among sub-species that have pointed ears, they're able to pick up sound easily, allowing them to hear better.
Shapeshifting[]
Feral Ice Fairies are capable of shapeshifting.
Silk[]
Silk touched Earth Fairies can make silk. The silk is very strong and it's color is unique to each fairy.
Darkness' Tongue[]
An ability Dark Fairies have, allowing them to communicate with the beasts of the island, and even tame or lure them. It's necessary for having control over a Titan without mind illusions.
Fairy Silver[]
Fairies are capable of making a mithril-like silver using iron. This takes time to occur, and is more of a survival instinct than anything else. When a fey is exposed to iron, they start producing a hormone that alters the composition of their sweat, this in turn slowly changes the iron to fey sliver to allow for their escape. However, changing the iron to silver can take anywhere from weeks to years depending on the amount present and if it's directly exposed to the fey.
Immunities/Resistance[]
Lava-Immunity[]
Fire Fairies are not burned by fire nor lava, allowing them to easily inhabit Bonfire.
Water-Resistance[]
Unlike their faerie counterpart, Water Fey's fur, hair, and wings do not absorb water well, so they don't have to worry about not being able to fly after getting soaked.
Storm-Resistance[]
Storm Fairies are resistant to electricity, meaning Storm Magic isn't very effective at its usual... wattage.
Cold-Resistance[]
Ice, Crystal, and Ivory Fairies aren't bothered by the cold - unless of course, the cold is extreme.
Shadow's Blessing[]
Dark Fairies are mostly immune to being corrupted by Shadow Magic. Conditions that Shadow Magic usually thrives in don't affect them negatively, and their more adaptive to the dark. As a result, it also allows them to turn into a shadow. It often causes them to have a shifted sleep cycle, napping in the day but active starting at dusk.
Other Notes[]
Dark Fairies[]
If at least one parent was corrupted by Shadow magic, the child gains a chance of being a Dark Fairy. If the child is an Astral, Sun, or Moon Fairy, the chances of it happening are even lower. That's why common type Dark Fairies are more usual.
Ivory Fairies[]
Ivories are most often referred to as a form of Albinism. This however, is only partially true, as it can also be caused by crossbreeding. This leads to most Ivory Fairies being shunned due to it most commonly occurring in HumanxFairy pairs. Ivory Fire Fey are incredibly rare, but not impossible, having silver/faint blue/white colored scales and dark gray skin tone. Ivory Fire Fey are normally cast out due to having a weaker fire immunity, being burned by lava unlike most others of their species.
Linages[]
There are a series of notable linages among fey, listed below. Some are listed due to being the remainder of nobility that existed before the events leading to the faen war, others are listed due to unexplained trait among them.
The Starhearts[]
A noble family hailing from the civilizations that used to made up of the ancestors of Moon, Sun, and Astral Fairies. They eventually took the evolution path of Astral Fey, commonly having longer-than-average ginger hair and a back-lit amber gaze. Their wings are larger than most fey and they are also taller. They are most easily identifiable due to each having a unique magical ability, which may not necessarily be tied to an element.
Known Members:
- Luce Starheart
- Luce's Brother
- [Unknown Generation Gap]
- Thomas Starheart
- [Unknown Generation Gap]
- Dale Starheart

The Sunwillows[]
A noble family hailing from the civilizations that used to made up of the ancestors of Moon, Sun, and Astral Fairies. They eventually took the evolution path of Solar Fey, but may show traits common in Moon Fey due to crossbreeding. Their wings are larger than most fey and they are also taller. They are identifiable by a complex patterning on their wings, resembling a sun with it's rays outstretching to the tips of the wings. It's said the combined power of Solar royal family were capable of moving the sun, but it's unknown if they are still capable of it.
Known Members:
- Naloc Sunwillow
The Moonlights[]
A noble family hailing from the civilizations that used to made up of the ancestors of Moon, Sun, and Astral Fairies. They eventually took the evolution path of Lunar Fey, but may show traits common in Sun Fey due to crossbreeding. Their wings are larger than most fey and they are also taller. They are identifiable due to having feathers on their wrists - similar to Celestial - as well as a more feathers on their tail than the others of their kind. It's said the combined power of Lunar royal family were capable of moving the moon(s), but it's unknown if they are still capable of it.
Known Members:
- None
The Nors[]
A noble family that once ruled alongside the other nobles of Shiverchill. They are identifiable by having glossier wings, appearing almost to made of ice. They also bear markings on the skin around the neck and shoulders, resembling snowflakes.
Known Members:
- None
The Icetalons[]
A family of exorcists that were notably one of the first Ice Fairies to go down the feral evolution chain. They're no clear way to identify them other than name, however, the Faen Wind reacts differently around them.
Known Members:
- Edur Icetalon
- Iris Icetalon
- [Unknown Generation Gap]
- Korinoryu Icetalon
- Owlen Icetalon
- Cyro Icetalon
- Floe Icetalon
- Korinoryu Icetalon

The Drakesongs[]
A family of Fire Fey that was one of the first to be abducted by dragons. They notably continue to crossbreed with them, having stronger dragon-like traits than most. This leads to a dispute over whether or not to continue to address them as Fey, as the level of dragon-like traits is similar to Fire Fae.
Weaknesses[]
Humans[]
The Faen kind are often maltreated by humans/wizards, and denied simple rights. They're often taken to granted and are often hunted down or even taken as prisoner due to fairy dust and tears.
Fairy dust, which is a powder created by a Faen's wing and critical to flight (similar to the powder on a butterfly's wing), has the same healing properties that Faen naturally have upon maturing. Fairy dust does not affect the Faen kind in any way other than allowing flight, but has proven to invoke healing in other species.
A Fairy's tears are rumored to also hold magical properties, and are used in alchemy and potion brewing, often with little regard to how the substance was obtained.
On top of this, before a fairy matures (at age 20), they are liable for falling ill. As they are not welcomed among humans/wizards doctors and such, they have taken to temporarily swapping a fairy child, otherwise known as a changeling, with a human/wizard child who has also fallen ill. Using Fairy dust to their advantage, they heal the human/wizard child and swap them back once the fairy child has also recovered. On the occasion they are discovered, it never ends well for neither child.
Lemons/Limes[]
They hate the taste of lemons and limes, and depending on the species, may react negatively to eating products made of those specific fruits - such as getting a stomach ache or a worse allergic reaction. Some do, however, enjoy oranges, and some hybrids are able to tolerate the taste of limes/lemons.
Cold Iron[]
Faen are sensitive to cold iron, and are affected by it in ways ranging from a rash to major burns. Iron has also proven to be a magical insulator towards faen, stopping fey/fae stepping and making magic generally useless on their part.
When the occasion of a changeling occurs, the parenting human/wizard(s) may occasionally go to the extent of torturing the child with an iron poker until they are swapped back (sometimes even proceeding to do so even after they were swapped back). Some take the precaution of placing an iron bar across the top of the crib, making it impossible for the swap to happen without the parenting fairy being harmed.
Faen who are enslaved by humans are often punished/kept under control by placing an iron clamp around the base of their wings - making flight impossible, insulating their magic, and generally torturing them.
Hollow Bones[]
As their bones are hollow, they break easily, which becomes as dangerous of a weakness as an animal's underbelly in mundane combat. Speed and strength becomes critical if they want to make it out of a fight without gaining life threatening injuries.
Wings[]
The wings of a fairy are one of the most sensitive areas of their body. Tearing of the wings or crude removal of Fairy dust can affect their ability to fly. The skin around the wings is also slightly softer, making this another weak point. Tearing of the wings (Except in Water, Fire, or Sun Fairies) will not cause any blood loss unless torn near the base of the wing, but it doesn't affect how painful it would be to do so. Upon being attacked near this weak point, instinct often kicks in causing the fairy in question to act a bit feral during the time they are at risk of becoming flightless.
And injured wing can regenerate depending on how it was torn, but it will scar as the regenerated parts will be lighter in coloration than the original wing. This process can take months or years depending on how much was torn. It is possible for the wing to be torn out in a manner to prevent regeneration, so either way it's best to avoid injuring the wing.
A fairy's wing can also absorb water and most liquids, similar to feather or butterfly wing. This makes the wing too heavy and soft for flight until it dries out, causing getting wet to be something a fairy would avoid unless bathing. Water Fairies' wings moisturize and dry the fastest, while Fire Fairies takes the longest to moisten and are tie for fastest to dry. Another who's wings are quick to dry are the wings of Earth and Silk Fey. Like butterflies, Faen produce a "powder" on their wings. In the case of butterflies (and moths), they can shed this powder—which are actually scales—to immediately dry their wings, and have multiple layers they can use before they have to wait. In the case of Faen, in most species the power (Fey Dust) is too fine for it to be shed as a defense mechanism, but in Earth and Silk Fey, the wing scales are large enough to be shed for this purpose.
Note: A fairy's wingspan is normally 10ft at 6ft tall, with the exception of Astral Fey, whose wingspans are around 8ft at 6ft tall.
Air Quality[]
Faen, albeit being able to handle the thin air of the upper atmosphere, are actually very sensitive to the air quality at ground level. They are liable to asthma attacks as they aren't used to the high amounts of oxygen and will find themselves having trouble breathing. Exerting themselves at ground level is harmful, leading to them preferring living high above ground are incredibly below sea level, in which where the air quality is also poor (towards the human opinion).
Water Faen are an exception to this, as they're used to living in aquatic/semi-aquatic environments and are able to handle the shifts in air quality. Astral and Earth Faen are other exceptions, as they're low fliers and used to oxygen rich air.
Illnesses & Deformities[]
Faen have an incredibly strong immune system, making it uncommon for them to fall ill. However, their immune system is weaker before reaching the age of 20 and it's normal for younger fey to fall ill to cold, fever, etc. Certain conditions, like malnutrition, hypothermia, dehydration, etc can lower a fairy's immune system enough that illnesses may bypass it, allowing even adult fey to become ill. Additionally, it's possible for Faen to fall ill to genetic or mutation based inflictions (cancer, etc) no matter how strong their immune system might be.
Deformities are similar to humans, but they do have a few that are unique to them:
Alis subalis[]
A condition where the wings develop below the skin (and never protrude) causing the said fey to be "wingless." It's not painful, but in those who have it, they might feel "stiff" and unable to perform some movements normally.
An OC with this deformity is Cria, mentioned in Smart-Alecky,
Scinditur cauda[]
A condition where the tail splits into two separate limbs. This might occur at the base of the tail, leading to the illusion of having two separate tails similar to Storm Fey. This can also occur midway, leading to the appearance of an Espeon (Pokémon) tail. Most commonly seen in Ivory fey, the tail can split at the very tip; however this is not considered an actually case of the deformity as it happens so often.
An OC with this deformity is Naloc, mentioned in The Faen Wind.
Carent nervi[]
A condition in which one lacks the additional nerve endings needed for magic. This can occur in not only Faen, but other magical species, and can quickly render some races defenseless.
There are multiple OCs with this condition, some which are not Fey:
- Rai is a fey who uses a Warden Keystone to accommodate in the Return of the Wardens series.
- Spark is a shapeshifter who experiences a partial case this condition, and is capable of producing small sparks of magic (hence his name) in the Return of the Wardens series.
This condition is most common among Desert Fae.
Carent unguis[]
A deformity unique to clawed species in which they are born "lacking" claws. In reality, the bones in their hands are mispositioned, resulting in their claws being buried in their skin. This is especially painful in Ice Faen who can have retractable claws, as they can still "retract" them within the skin and cause internal damage. Pressure on the fingertips and claw growth can invoke pain on those with the condition. It's been theorized that the condition occurs due to their more humanoid structure.
An OC with this deformity is Gale Starheart, from the Return of the Wardens series.
Groups[]
Pre-Faen War[]
Celestial Kingdom[]
A larger kingdom split between three nobilities, united by a council. Notably, the original Academy was built upon their ruins.
Lunar Kingdom[]
One of the Celestial Kingdoms, inhabited by Moon Fey. Exact position is unknown, but it's speculated the Skywatch Beanstalk grew on it's ruins.
Solar Kingdom[]
One of the Celestial Kingdoms, inhabited by Sun Fey. Exact position is unknown, but it's speculated Lamplight and the Dark Tower were built on it's ruins.
Desert Territories[]
Land owned by the Solar Kingdom, located in modern day Dyno Dig Oasis. It's ruins are often dug up by the archeological team there.
Astral Kingdom[]
One of the Celestial Kingdoms, inhabited by Astral Fey. This was the original Celestial Kingdom, but after the land was split, it became known as the Silvian. The Silvian Forest grew at it's ruins.
Glacial Kingdom[]
It's speculated that it was located in Shiverchill. Presumably, it was the only kingdom to inhabit more than one species, being home to Yetis, Dwarves, Ice Fey, and a variety of Yokai. It's unknown what happened to it's ruins.
Post-Faen War[]
Drake Tribe[]
Provides refuge to a small group of remaining Fire Salamanders. Associates with humans, but still have grudges. Some of them are Flame Weavers.
Glacier Tribe[]
Born fighters, patrol lower Shiverchill, clean up after Lucy (Crystal Golem). They trigger avalanches if a threat gets too close.
Forest Tribe[]
Gardens and grows food for the rest of the tribe. Tends to Firefly Forest (with Flora as their representative). Decorate the caves and make them feel more homey.
Storm Tribe[]
Manipulates the weather at the Silvian Forest, generally makes sure the weather conditions don't make things difficult for the Astral Tribe. Patrol the land from the skies, out of site, making sure no one wanders too close.
Creek Tribe[]
Manages water supplies. They're a fishing tribe and know a few people in the Merling colonies.
Moon Tribe[]
Explores new caves due to their ability to see in the dark. Are knowledged in herbs/healing, and help with fighting.
Sun Tribe[]
Assists Astral Tribe, except remains hidden by choice.
Astral Tribe[]
Communicates with humans, trade with other species (including some monster species), helps light up the caves, etc
Crystal Tribe[]
A tribe located in the caves out skirting Crystal Caverns. They are mostly independent, seeing that they can pass off as wizards, however, some choose to remain in touch with the other tribes.
The Whispers Of The Dark[]
Generally, the black market. Multiple Dark Fairies are present here, and are known for casting mind illusions to keep the Silvian Forest hidden. Dream Weavers can be found among their ranks. Never wander there without a trustworthy Dark Fairy nearby.
The Echoes Of The Ice[]
A more secluded group of fairies somehow composed solely of Ivories. They have close ties with the Whispers of the Dark, and most tribes don't even know they exist. They are mostly peaceful due to past trauma from abuse in the former tribes, however, the luckier, younger generation do not have this forced humility tying them down. Their members are mostly outcasts, however, there are a few who came by choice.
Trivia[]
- The Silk weaving variant of Earth Fairies were actually based upon the concept of if Fairies were more insect-like than humanoid. Scales were added as result of reading the Unwanteds series. However, they are not based after Silk Wings from Wings of Fire.
- Faen with tails have a thin strip of fur starting at the bottom of their wings and leading to the tail. In certain species, this fur extends to cover most of their back - most commonly seen in Ice Fey.
- In the case of Ice Fey, during colder months when Shiverchill's temperatures drop more drastically, they grow a "winter coat" causing their tails to be fluffier and their spinal fur to cover most of their mid body. They shed this coat in the late spring, as they no longer have need for it.
- Notably, because of them being used to living in environments with thin air, they have a different nose shape them humans, being flatter and quite similar to that of a Na'vi. They also have larger lungs then humans, and consequently because of that, a larger chest.
- Their ancestor, Faen, were actually animal-like humanoids. The reason they evolved to be more human-like rather than simply human was partially due to breeding with humans and partially due to the fact early humans were more reluctant to kill Faen that looked like them versus those that looked like animals. Eventually faen - due to natural selection - evolved to look like modern day Fae. Migration of Faen from the Island of Prodigy to the element islands cut them off from humans, and as result, they had no need to evolve further, staying mostly the same from that point forth. However, the Faen that remained on the Island of Prodigy continued to evolve to be more humanoid, resulting in modern day Fey.
