Dale is the Head Librarian at the C.A.V.E.R.N Institute.[2]
Personality[]
Dale has been shown to be somewhat skeptic, going for the logical, socially acceptable explanation to things rather than immediately considering something may be wrong. This led to him shooting down Gale's rambles about his voices, insisting that they're imaginary. He also doesn't believe something is "real" until proof or witnessing it for himself.[1]
He's also been implied to harshly reprimand those who damage books.[4]

Dale is introduced as the Institute's "beloved librarian,"[1] and although he's supposedly Head Librarian, he is not mentioned to have a team under him. He's supposedly looking forward to retirement, in which he chose one of his grandchildren as successor.[2] His successor has not been stated, and only one of his great-grandchildren have been mentioned.[1] He's been stated to have helped with researching statements, especially those regarding his family members.[3]
He's stated to have a multitude of relatives which he supposedly invites to office parties at the Institute.[2]
