Appearance[]
A Dryad (female) or Druid (male) take different forms with varying ages. They age incredibly slowly, still seeming ten or eleven when they’re many decades old. Their faces also seem to never age, and they seem permanently between ten and twenty.
Dryads have skin the color of their bark, hair the color of their leaves, and eyes being either one of them. They grow up to about seven feet and have very long limbs. Their fingers resemble their branches. All of them are plantigrades. There are many types, some of which are listed below.
Meiliai[]
Ash trees, very strong and brave. Known to be loyal to their creator and to earth-related creatures.
Hamadryad[]
Dryads who have tied themselves to their trees. They live as long as their tree. They are rarer, as most dryads are not so closely tied to their trees.
Dodona[]
Dryads who were blessed by the Ancient are capable of prophecy. However, they are not very reliable and can easily cause insanity.
Epimelides[]
A type of dryad that lives in apple trees and loves gardens. They are known to take care of sheep, goats, etc.
Abilities[]
Tree and Human Form[]
Dryads can shift between tree form and human form at will. They don't actually shapeshift, they "merge" with the tree
Longetivity[]
Dryads live exceptionally long due to their connection to trees.
Attractiveness[]
Dryads are known to be very attractive and flirtatious towards Faen and wizards, leading them to be their personal servants.
Druid/Dryad Stepping[]
A form of teleportation that allows them to enter and exit a tree (doesn't necessarily have to be their tree)
Earth Magic[]
Dryads are capable of earth magic, specifically the plant-related type.
Culture[]
Groups[]
Meiliai: Powerful, brave, and loyal ash trees who are guardians of whoever planted them. Their location depends on where the planter wants them to stay.
Grove of Dodona: A grove found in Harmony Island. They have the gift of prophecy. NEVER enter without wind chimes, and be aware of the risk of losing your sanity.
Various Woodlands: Each grove of dryads is close and are generally good to each other.
Government[]
Due to wizardkind having to clear lots of forests, there is dispute between dryads and wizards. Each group of dryads needs representatives to sort things out with the wizards.
Alliances[]
Forest Tribe: The Earth Faen and Woodland Dryads regularly trade and commune.
Nymphs:
Weaknesses[]
Tree Bonds[]
If something happens to their tree(s) they will be affect as well, growing ill or even dying.
If a cutting is taken from a druid/dryad's tree, they will have a bond with it and can move to it if their original tree dies.
Fire[]
As fire can burn down trees, Dryads are especially weak to fire.
Notable Information[]
Dancing[]
Dryads/Druids have a love of dancing and music… however, they rarely show this to wizards.
Wind Chimes[]
Specifically for Dodona Dryads/Druids, wind chimes were known to calm them down and are a symbol amongst other dryads.
Corruption[]
Corruption will affect them the same way it'll effect a person, but more drastically.
